People have been living around fires and word burning stoves for hundreds of thousands of years. Now it's called a problem. Butte County is full of lung disease because of SMOKING. It's great time when you are young, yet old smokers are full of Emphesyma, Chronic Bronchitis and COPD.

If you can't breathe, you can't work, so they get on disability. We end up paying for them to sit at home taking expensive meds, breathing oxygen and they continue to smoke.

Why should I pay for your poor decisions?

No more anchor babies or extended family services, no more project housing just for the farm workers (whom house illegals, fact, prove me wrong SEC 8). no schooling of the reciever of the money on programs, no medical treatment in hospitals (clinics should be totally free to remove them from the hospital area for really ill/prevention works use it), premium paid (and the only one re-spending my premiums it the dork sucking up umbrella drinks in the camans on some frickin retreatat $2,500 a person not including airfare)
I want an annual insurance company premium return tax form, if you got no medical treatment, been in no car accidents or your house hasn't killed someone, get it all back, more money for the GOV to tax(more intrest money for the reserve) then we get it back , and Boom the economy has its money moving again every year for holidays christmas etc.
And the crooks in DC all the way down to county and city will have their funding.
Our economy suck because insurance of ALL kind have pilfered all the money and are sacking it up and nothing gets back, ok the pay out sometimes, or invest in a project(usually their own building to expand and take more) but only pay out to the point all vendors(doctor/autobody/contra ctor) is paid and that's it, I want when I file a claim there is a paper comes with it from the holding company who has all the money I paid into that policy, showing how much is paid in and amount fo total years paid in is avaliable so if i feel like it, I can scoop it out and fix what needs fixed and use what more of MY money I get back to upgrade. They are the non paying stock market. you take a chance of not getting killed in an accident, they tell you no you don't get you money back! Why? Because his bentley,boat or house still has more payments due/and insurance premiums need paid on his stuff, so he uses my money to do it, benifits personally and I get bupcussssszzz???

You can legally now for medical. in the industrial code book, under insurance, failure to provide services, return of premiums paid, get it all back, I did for 2 yrs premiums but you have to fight for it, and most of all don't forget they are ALL ON THAT CORD connected to that hind GOV teet. now nuff said

So Butte County residents, at least some, think it's OK to use a substance that's known to kill them and rob them of lung capacity in numbers above the state norm.

Cannabis hasn't killed anyone in recorded history, and even heavy smokers don't face lung problems with the frequency and severity of those associated with tobacco. Alcohol is another killer, yet we gladly accept hangover tips while watching the Rose Parade. Enjoy those canned Buds responsibly, and don't forget the 24-packs are on sale.

Medical cannabis is not for everyone, but it's legal, effective -- and safe. Please resolve to get that one fact straight when discussing cannabis and public policy, this year and in 2012 when legalization returns to the ballot.

I know what most of the problem is. Most all of the people on welfare in butte county smoke cigarettes, along with hanging out at the local Indian Casinos. Walk into a local Casino and the smell of cigarette smoke almost knocks you over. These people live to smoke cigarettes and gamble away out tax dollars. This might sound prejiduce to the local bleeding hearts but it is fact. Walk into a Casino anytime , or especially at the first of the month after they get their welfare money, and you will see the local welfare gang setting there gambling away our tax dollars, along with sucking away on the cigarettes. That is why there is this high number of sickness in Butte County.

Come one dude. Everyone knows that every single smoke known to mankind is harmful to the lungs if held as long as possible except sweet weed smoke. There is evidence everywhere. Just look at this forum. Lots of smart people here. It is common knowledge that inhaling the magical herb smoke of weed and holding it in your lungs as long as possible does no harm to anyone. I thought we were past this. Old pot smokers are going to save this country millions of dollars because they never get sick.

Gee, do you think that the fact that Butte County is a Superfund site might have anything to do with that high rate of respiratory ailments? Any of you remember the dioxins that the Kopper Mill poured out into the air for YEARS?(BTW, there is no safe minimum level of dioxin, as far as I can find out).

The County will most likely start (or rather, continue, since they've already started in this article) to blame those high levels of respiratory ailment on people smoking marijuana.
