Wow, All is well now in the United States! The GRAND health care bill has passed. Wonderful things are going to happen now. Everyone will have great health care provided by the government. That is great you don't have to pay for it!! Now our 12 trillion debt will vanish because adding 32 million to health care will save us money. Hey if we want to get rid of the debt quicker lets pay for the health care in China and the debt would be gone over night.
A very sad day for America!!

Maybe now our constipated President will be able to relieve himself.I would not call this a victory or a historic event, it is a turning point for political history in the United States.
Now, Obama can answer to the people, many of whom possess violent ideas and radical attitudes.
I was hoping that this bill would not pass in order to avoid unpleasant events in the future.
Good Luck Obama, you are going to need it.

To Mike Smeltzer, what makes you think the federal government doesn't have the power to force us to buy something we don't want? Every time I get paid I see proof they not only can but do.

Yes, health care insurance needed some redesign...which is why it should have been and still should be focused as health care INSURANCE reform...and it should settle out as the industry needing to make changes and take account for many of today's inadequacies in the way that business is done. But it is not the federal government's job to be the provider. The leader in establishing business guidelines and regulations - yes, in this it can serve as the referee and watchdog.....the propensity for this bill as well as Obama's other initiatives to create a wellfare / socialistic state is wrong. It will serve to bring down many institutions and negatively impact many Americans through increased taxes and cost of living expenses...to simply be satisfied with more hand-outs is short-sighted and ignorant...if people wanted REAL reform they would get behind tort reform...sadly, most people have no idea what that is and politicians are in bed with the legal lobby because they are of the same thread. Addressing tort reform and medical malpractice is where this kind of energy SHOULD have been focused on a state and national level. If Rep. Platts and others can fight this fight then maybe we would be getting somewhere with all of this....

funny Mr. Platts says this bill "does harm" but then doesn't state one reason how it does harm ... unless the reporter didn't press him on it?? how could it have been better? what do you wish was in it instead? are you saying you are NOT happy that 32 million Americans will now have coverage that didn't before?

thank god for the majority in this country having some courage, finally. where were the pro-lifers when the previous president led us on an immoral, unethical war that has killed thousands?

vote Platts out and the rest of the weak links who are afraid to stand up for ANYTHING but who are always against EVERYTHING.

Just look at all the happy fools they think they've been saved by our fearless leaders. Mama always said be careful what you wish for. The thing is, these stupid people have no clue that what they wished for and what they are getting are not even close. I guess you really can't fix stupid.

Go take care of your illegitimate kids and continue to spend your welfare on cigarettes and booze. It's obvious you don't have anything to do but sit on the sofa and be brainwashed by Oprah and the liberal media.

Americans now have the freedom to survive their medical misfortunes without FEAR that coverage will be dropped.

Different perspectives, this bill promotes health and well- being. It's way past time we join other countries who provide health care for their citizens as a right.

Duh?!?! It's because of uninformed freeloaders like you, that got sucked into Bam-Bam's Pied Piper plan, that the rest of us that will be stuck paying for it are unhappy!

Those that don't work OR don't WANT to work and want everything for nothing naturally are happy. Your dumb response as to expecting Mr. Platts to explain how this Bill does harm makes no sense. What and where have you been hiding that you apparently don't know what its all about?

Yeah, you're like the many other freeloaders, gimme, gimme, gimme! All you're interested in is getting all you can get for free; skrew the fact that many others of us have to tighten up our belts, just to carry you. Charity only goes so far.

Todd Platts was part of the majority for years, and did absolutely nothing to address the problems with health insurance and health care. One would think, given his own child's health issues, that he would have been more open to helping other families, but I guess he's got his insurance, so screw everyone else.

I wish there were more level headed people like you who are intellectually honest enough to say what needs to be said to BOTH sides. Similar to yourself, I also am an independent minded level headed thinker who carries the water for NO political party.

I think the health care reform bill is probably over reaching although I will hold my tongue until some time passes and we see the overall effect positive and negative. I do hope however that more positive comes about than negative. Only a party water carrier would hope the negative happens thereby hurting the country so his/her party regains control.

As to the Republican's though, you are right they had the White House and Congress from 2000 - 2006 (in 2006 was when Democrats won control in the House/Senate) so if they had all these great ideas for reform why did they not propose and PUSH through (even forcefully if necessary) reform at that time...& I hope nobody says 9/11, Iraq, Bin Laden, and Sadamm keep them occupied because in my position I am expected to delegate and multi-task AND I expect the President and Congress to do the same.

First, I am employed full-time, have good health insurance, am not a "freeloader", and have never had to reply on the government to assist me with paying for my health care, or any other needs in my life, for which I am very grateful...and I AM VERY HAPPY that majority of the elected leaders in Washington have FINALLY gained the courage avoid the politics and do something RIGHT versus what is popular.

I am amused at the mentality some people have at approaching this issue. Usually those with good insurance are the ones most opposed to health care for everyone. Bet if they, or someone close to them, were affected by unaffordable health insurance or pre-existing conditions, they would have a different opinion. I have a question for those opposed to this, how do you expect someone working full-time at McDonalds (and remember someone has to serve up the CHEAP burgers you like) can afford to pay health insurance on their own? They could if you would be willing to pay more for your fast food - but you know you're not.

Why shouldn’t everyone pay for health insurance? Argument is “I’m healthy and don’t need it.” Come on people…we all know someone that was healthy and the next day was stricken by some illness, was involved in some sort of accident, or worse yet, died unexpectedly. If you are alive and breathing, you are at risk and have the potential to need health care/health insurance, regardless of age, race, or gender. For those that don’t want health insurance, don’t have health insurance, but then need health care and can’t afford bill - who pays? Either the medical facility writes it off (paid for by others that have health insurance – reason for high costs), or the government subsidizes the medical facility (so the government is already paying in many instances). Pay up…or pay the consequences later – health care denial!

Wake up America...how disgraceful for the wealthiest nation in the world to deprive its citizens of basic health care. I guess this issue is like all the others...the "haves" don't want the "have-nots" to have any basic needs in life (talk about a death panels. I only hope those that are so opposed to ensuring health care for ALL AMERICANS never have the need to reply on the government for help…bet half of the complainers are only one pay check away from that…speaking of which, why should the government pay for those not working (called unemployment)– maybe we should take that away too.

Unfortunately for some [not all], that is the "American Way". Get yours and screw everyone else. I see it everyday.

Good hard working people get laid off and others in the same company get exorbinate bonuses. Companies take tax payer money to bail themselves out then some within the company go on quote/unquote business trips with more pleasure conducted than business.

All these people talking about the poor expecting entitlements (which by the way I am against anyone who "expects" entitlements without hard work) BUT I here little outrage about these greedy sob's.

At the end of the day the only ones who truly suffer and carry the weight of the world on their backs are the "middle class". Not poor enough to receive anything "free" but not wealthy enough to write a check out of the checking account for their kid's college tuition. That is ultimately the sad state of the country in 2010.

A-Frickin'-Men, sir.

And this is why I don't know whether I should cheer the passage of HCR or not.

I am happy that they eliminated pre-existing conditions as an obstacle to getting insurance. I can tell you from experience the BS reasons numerous insurance companies will give for denying you coverage.

But I am unconvinced at this point that we'll see any real cost reductions in health insurance. I do believe the poor will make out ok in this, but my gut tells me that the middle class will see only minor decreases in costs. It will be similar to Obama's "Middle Class Tax Cut" which only added about $14 dollars a week to my paycheck.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Gemini

It's a red letter day for relationships under the Lunar Eclipse in your house of significant others, because you're facing some important and far-reaching changes to some of them. The pressure has been building since the Gemini Solar Eclipse on May 20. f you've known for some time that things aren't working out, you're about to reach a crisis point as becomes obvious that the present situation can't continue much longer. The coming New Moon in Gemini on June 19 will see progress of one kind or another, though this unusual eclipse cycle will have a far-reaching effect. You may have to be cruel to be kind, or more forceful than you would like, in order to get your point across, but do you really have any viable alternative?
