I take Spiriva along with Asmanex (a steroid) of which controls my COPD much better.
I was on Advair for a full year and felt it wasn't doing a good enough job.

I've been using Advair 500 for about four years, it works fine for me. I gave Spiria a try but had a bad reaction to it,it affected my eyes. Glad it works for you Jack 50, guess what works for some may not do to well for others. Have a good New Year!

Has anyone had a problem with their bones and muscles hurting while taking spiriva?

Unfortunately, I have had ongoing problems in those areas prior to taking Spiriva.(mainly cramps throughout my life and degenerative cartilage in my back and knees. Spiriva is an anticholinergic,-not a corticosteroid"- so bone or muscle issues should be rare to non-existent. However, I hear some issues with the urinary system and male prostate conditions. |

Hope this is good news for Advair users. The patent on Advair ran out Feb 12,2008. Maybe users will see a genetic replacement on the markes sometime in the next year, and the price might come down.

Many companies work around that by dropping the drug delivery methods. Like dropping the Advair Discus for Advair HFA. Patents, in this case, get tied up in a 2 parts- formula and the whatever devise. |

Muscle cramps in "Respiratory Compromised Individuals" (RCI) seem related to what my Dr. calls- hypoxia.(Hypoxia is the lack of oxygen reaching the body tissues) Muscles require a good supply of oxygen otherwise they cramp. Likewise in RCI, tends to have a higher blood levels of Carbon Dioxide, of which is acidic that wreaks havoc with our nervous system. |

I switched to Symbicort 160 4.5 from Advair and Spiriva 250 in January Both raise my blood pressure and give me a tremor. My COPD/asthma is close to being controlled with the Symbicort and Spiriva, the doctor told me today! And I feel much less out of breath. |

I have. I had to quit taking Advair because of Thrush, but since I started Spiriva, I've had bad cramps in my feet, calves, and hands. |

It's a shame the Advair caused Thrush, because it seemed to be helping for the few days I took it.

I used to have Asthma and it's not somethi ng to take lightly. Asthma is nothing more than inflamation. Rather than use many of these dangerous drugs, you may want to do some research on an amazing botanical thta has had outstanding results with Asthma. It's not well known here but there is a ton of research and studies. Here is a research site to learn more www.InformationOnMangosteen.info download the Time article on the secret killer which is based on inflamation. It has helped me in more ways than this. Check it out for yourself.

anyone using inhaled ADVAIR needs to rinse and gargle with CREST PRO HEALTH mouthwash. this will take care of the thrush.
after each advair use, you must garlgle real good and rinse out you mouth real good and you will never be bothered again with that thrush infection [ which is yeast, you know]. My doctor is very hip! |

I was on advair 250/50 for 5 years with good results. I was switched to spiriva, pulmicort, duo-neb for a nebulizer. After 2 years of always trembling, having more breathing problems, high blood pressure taking more steroids than usual via my albuteral emergency inhaler, and steroids in my nebulizer,
both of which I didn't have to use with advair! I finally requested to get my advair back! I hope I still have the good results that I had previously when taking advair. Yes, I have noticed more bone and muscle pain in the last 2 years. My PFT is at 27%. Rinsing mouth after each use will prevent thrush. |

I am 72 and take seretide and spiriva for severe COPD and had agonising cramps for years, after a spell in hospital I was given an exercise regime which I gradually increased to 40 minutes and my cramps have virtually stopped.
|
||||
Yes, I have been having much more muscle pain in my legs and arms. Also more bone pain. What is being suggested? |
