I have had some experiences with chest pains, and these are some things I've found that have worked for me. I'm in my 30's and otherwise very healthy.
1. Magnesium. My worst experience with chest pain was a couple years ago, when I ignored skipped heartbeats for several months thinking it was nothing. I ended up in bed for a week with tightness in the chest, racing heartbeats with panic attacks, and a slightly abnormal EKG with a diagnosis of heart palpitations. I knew it had to be a nutrient deficiency of some sort, because I was too young & healthy to have such sudden and severe heart problems. I could barely walk to the bathroom without clutching my chest. After much research on the internet trying to figure out what nutrient lacking, I decided to go to the health food store and try out some foods containing magnesium. Bingo! I drank 2 ounces of wheatgrass juice and my heart rate calmed instantly. It turned out to be a magnesium deficiency that I had. I kept eating magnesium foods for the next few weeks and kept improving progressively - the best sources I found were wheatgrass juice, lima beans, and spinach. I also learned that most magnesium deficiencies don't show up on hospital blood tests. 2. Cayenne Pepper. I found this on the internet, I thought it was kind of hokey but I was desperate so I decided to try it. There's a doctor who says on his website that cayenne pepper will stop a heart attack within minutes. You put about a teaspoon of cayenne pepper (the regular kitchen spice) into a cup of warm water to make a tea, then drink it. Man does it work! It resets normal heart rhythm. Cayenne, apparently, is both a heart food and a blood & artery cleanser. However, it is not supposed to be taken in conjunction with heart medications like blood thinners, so don't try this without asking a doctor, if you're on medication. A friend of mine experiences chest pains occasionally and when I told him about this, he thought it was stupid, but he decided to try it before going to the emergency room and ended up feeling fine. 3. Omega-3's. I had some strange-feeling localized chest pain the last couple days that didn't feel like any of the previous occasions. I knew Omega oils were good for the heart and I knew my diet was probably very low in these. I ate some Chia seeds which I bought from the health food store(which are great because they also contain calcium & magnesium, which are important minerals for the heart), and I instantly felt better. I also ate some lima beans (magnesium), so whether my discomfort had been caused by Omega-3 deficiency or magnesium deficiency, I don't know. I think if you're young & healthy and your heart tests come back normal from the doctor and they can't figure out what's wrong with you, you should definitely start doing some nutritional research because it could likely be a nutrient deficiency. I am very health-conscious and I still get deficient in certain nutrients sometimes. Well, I hope that helps, good luck to everyone! |

I also wanted to add that regarding cayenne pepper, there's a whole book on the subject written by Dick Quinn called "Left for Dead," regarding his not-too-successful bypass surgery and strong family history of heart disease. The book contains anything anyone could want to know about cayenne pepper.
