Hi Shelley-
I'm Lori and your post caught my eye as I was treated by Dr. Dabney for 16 years. I have left-sided hemiplegia, and he performed 3 surgeries on me. I was released from duPont this summer because I turned 21. I know see Dr. MaryAnn Keenan at the University of Pennsylvania, which he refers most, if not all his patuents to once they turn 21. I'm in college studying Animal Science and I hope to get an internship in biomedical research at Nemours this summer. My mom mentioned to me she wishes we could still go down there versus Penn, since we got so used to it (been there 20 + times in the past 2 years). We are also very friendly with his secretary and hope to catch up sometime with her. That's pretty amazing what orthopedists can do and I'm glad your son bebefited from it. |

i just lost my sister last april to complications from cerbral palsy what can cause death in people with cp
|
|
WHAT CAUSES DEATH IN C-P PEOPLE ...WHAT I UNDERSTAND MANT THINGS IT DEPENDS ON THE HEALTH THE INDIVIDUL. SOMETIMES ORGANS FAILURE, RESPERITORY PROBLEMS,A FEW THINGS..IT DEPENDS ON HOW THE PERSON GET AROUND.THE LEAST THEY GET AROUND THE WORST IT IS FOR THEM. KEEP THEM BUSY AND UP..HOPE THIS HELPS SHELLEY GARTON |

My son Austin is 12 and has severe CP and boy has he gone through alot. We have gone through many procedures to try and make him better & more comfortable including cell injections, reflexology and oxygen treatments. Within the past 2 years he has had to have a testicle removed because it didn't drop and is not good to leave there and he had rods put in his back last year to straighten his spine which was extremely curved.
We are currently going through Botox to loosen his muscles in his legs and next we will move to his hands. Has anyone done botox for this? I have been seeing stories lately about respiratory problem causing death from botox. Getting a little nervous. |
|
HEY TINA I CAN SAY I NEVER HAD TO USE BOTOX I SAW ALOT OF NOT SO GOOD THINGS AS YOU DID LATELY. SO YES ID BE CAREFUL.ITS SO TOUGH TO KNOW WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THESE KIDS WE CAN ONLY MAKE THE CHOICES WE FEEL ARE RIGHT. I BELIEVE 20/20 HAD A STORY ABOUTBOTOX IN HANICAPPED KIDS THEN AGAIN THERES ALWAYS GOOGLE. SOUNDS LIKE YOUR DOING A GREAT JOB.. KEEP IN TOUCH.. SHELLEY GARTON |

Hi Shelly...Just saw your post about your childs legs and the great Dr. If you wouldnt mind I would like to speak with you. My son is 12 yrs. old and has CP. To date he has had about 81 different surgeries and we have had a horrible time with his left leg. We are desperate at this point. He is miserable and I cant stand to see him in so much pain and becoming overwhelmingly depressed. Please if you can find the time...I would greatly appreciate talking to yoy more about this. my email is mceverage@woh.rr.com
Thank you Cara |

Hi everyone,
I thought I would stop in and let you all know about a daily blog about cerebral palsy. It's www.cerebral-palsy-information.com . It is so great to see people coming together to exchange information about CP and how it affects lives. Best, Jeff |
