Sog,
You will find friends and partners who see you as you do. I too cringe whenever I see a video and I'm not sure that will ever change. My hubby iPhone videoed me playing wii just dance with my 5 year old the other say and I was outraged. Poor bloke couldn't understand why!!! Chin up :-) |

Just found out my grandson has cp. He and his twin brother were born at 27 weeks, we were all so relieved they survived and in Mar. they will celebrate their first year. I've been reading everything I can on this, its scaring the hell out of me. We won't know for awhile the extent of his cp, I pray its mild. We have the most loving supportive family so he will have that but I want him to have friends and his own family too...Right now he appears to be fine, smiles and laughs all the time. What can we expect in the near future? His brother is mobile and beginning to talk..Reese doesn't roll over yet and his arms seem more stiff. What can I do or say to help them all..

An important thing to consider especially when speaking with your doctor is keeping your medical records. Numerous children each year are diagnosed with cerebral palsy and without your medical records on hand this traumatic experience can prove tedious and circular if you don't have them. Is anyone in the same situation as me? My one passion in life is something that my CP stops me doing, playing and writing music. It hurts all the more because I can do it a bit, but I reached my limit long ago. My head is filled with music but I cannot write it down. Is there anyone else who is unable to do the one thing that makes them feel alive? I used to have guitar lessons, but then the teacher took a holiday and I rarely pick it up any more because it just depresses me because I can hardly play it. I've tried to make one of my other interests my passion instead of music, but it doesn't work.

My son is 32 years old. He has a girlfriend who does not allow him to visit her unless she can collect his whole check, because he works. However, he does not see the way I see them. Even though he goes to work at 5:00 AM it does not matter the weather, he still feels that he is responsible to provide for her, her son, who is not his, and sometimes her family.I reported to DCF as abuse, but their answer was that he was giving his money voluntarily. In addition, there is a suspect that she smoke marihuana. I do not know what else to do or to which agency I can refer this to. I want to die in peace. Of course, he has no money in savings. Please, help.

There are several factors can cause cerebral palsy. A linked with depression and cerebral palsy has been seen through research. Depression is managed by antidepressants like Zoloft. You can know more about it at http://www.zoloftsertralinebirthdefects.com/u...

Phoebe:
You have not reached your limit. In fact, you will never reach any limit, as one can always improve. I'm exactly in the same situation as you are, I play electric guitar and I have CP which affects my right hand. Now, I'm mad about Heavy Metal music, most specifically Thrash Metal. If you don't know what it is, it basically involves very fast and tight picking both on rhythm and lead guitar. Listen to some old Metallica and Megadeth for some most well-known examples. Now, having CP on my right hand, which is my picking hand, I'm naturally having trouble playing this kind of music. However, I keep pressing on everyday, always trying to improve my technique. And that's the key to get to the level you're trying to achieve. Yes, it's going to be tough, but that only makes it even more fun! My advice is that you keep on working on what you're doing wrong. Practice it everyday. Also, keep establishing some short term objectives to keep you motivated, like playing a certain riff or song that's supposedly really easy. And don't worry if you take too long to achieve something, because sooner or later you will. There will be good days and there will be bad days. Trust me, in the beginning I couldn't even hold the pick through the length of a whole song, and know I can jam some moderately difficult songs! And, besides practicing everyday, see if you can get therapy to remove the tension from your arm/hand and to get some mobilization. And never, EVER give up!:) |

I found some interesting videos about treatment of cerebral palsy in Poland. I think they will be useful to everybody.

hi i'm claudia and i have cp. When I was younger i coped fine with it but as soon as i got to seconadry school i couldn't cope and i still find it hard even now. I don't like having it at all but i hide that depending on who i'm with. I have thought of suicide at least once but probably more, it flashes through my head all the time. its very frustrating because i spend my whole life either on my own or with people that don't have cerebral palsy so no matter how many times i explain it they'll never understand. I used to think i didn't fit anywhere because i have a mild version so i'm not disabled enough or "normal" enough but i still wish someone could find a cure.
