What you are talking about is GLUCOSE not GLUTEN. Very different things. The "starch" in potaoes, etc does, indeed turn to glucose in your system - Gluten is a protein. The protein in gluten that comes from wheat, rye or barlay is what a celiac must avoid. I won't bash you for being young & uninformed. Actually, you are doing well to know anything about health...I would wager that you know more than many adults.
Just some advice though...in the future, you may want to make sure YOUR facts are straight before posting so vehemently that someone else is wrong or stupid.

Whether Celiac eat at home or eat out, we are at the mercy of manufacturers to fully disclose ALL ingredients. This is how we make decisions on what is safe to eat. If a supplier is not truthful in their disclosures then we, as consumers whose health is being damaged, have a right to sue for damages.
Note: I am NOT a fan of frivolous lawsuits but when we are not the chemists, and must rely on the chemists from majog corporations then I believe this type of lawsuit is justified. The lawsuits over the coffee being too hot or food making you fat, now THAT is frivolous. |

They do not have to state if an item is gluten free. However, choosing to divulge the ingredients but not divulging ALL of them is wrong. They should be held accountable.

U.S. Soldier you need to go back to defending our country and get off of this computer you must be very nieve and ignorant to make a remark like that how do you know what race the people on this site are no one has said and celiac disease is not limited to only white people. Your ignorance is astounding no wonder you are a soldier it takes very little brain and all guts and mustle.

Your comments are a disgrace and outrage to all soldiers around the world. How dare you say that brave men and women who fight around the world for freedom are only doing such because it takes very little brain? Our soldiers are military forces are some of the smartest - far more than world war two soldiers who had an average of a grade three education. "If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them." |

ok now, you all complain and want to sue everybody to get rich because your a bunch of greedy morons, how amusing.well guess what stupid(s), you should know if they have those ingredients in them so stop acting like idiots, your not fooling anyone, unless you really are, but heh, who isnt these days uh?

and for you woman, disgracing the ones who protect your lazy arse from the chaos in this world, you can go die in your own pity. all your doing is complaining while you sit on your fat lazy arse watching tv, and living in an easier life provided to you by the government. you sicken me. humans have de-evolved to the sense where you cant do anything yourselves. especially all of you humans living in cities/surburbs in rich prospering nations such as the U.S.

I did not realize that McDonald's was actually saying there fries were gluten free. I knew they weren't GF b/c online it says they have a natural beef flavor in them. I think people with celiac and gluten intolerances need to do more research before they eat somewhere. Pretty much all fast food is not GF.

Honestly, you would think that if you or someone you know had this disease you would get a nutritional fact chart and/or ingredient list from McDonalds to ensure that you would ingest something that is harmful to you. This is from the McDonalds website:
French Fries: Potatoes, vegetable oil (canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavor [wheat and milk derivatives]*), citric acid (preservative), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (maintain color), salt. Prepared in vegetable oil ((may contain one of the following: Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to preserve freshness), dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent).* People will do anything for money! |

Yes, having celiac disease myself, we have to be careful. But having a little common sense is important. If you are frying chicken, fish,etc... breaded with gluten in the same fryer as the french fries that should say alot. Its time we take on some responsibility instead of trying to sue everyone.

And that's why McDonald's uses separate vats for fries, chicken, and fish.
