The Roman Catholic Church really turns me off how they stigmatize planned parenthood.

The Catholic Church is slowly becoming more and more irrelevant in todays world. Witness the long, gradual decline in their membership. And I'm a Catholic, but not a sheep.

The real issue here is that the church wants the money given to them.

I think Jesus and God determine who are the good Catholics and who are not. Why don't we let them decide. Our job is to forgive our neighbors 7 x 70.

Actually I think that the real issue is that the shepards of the church are becoming too detached from the flock.

It's nice to see that you're educating the next generation to be just as full of ignorance and hatred as you are.

PP is an abortion provider first, and a counseling outfit/contraceptive provider a distant second. Why is is "stigmatizing" to point this out?

It's not a matter of "agreeing with abortion". The issue is agreeing with the Catholic Church's (and many other religious sects') belief that a human fetus is a human person (i.e., God infuses a soul) from the first moment of conception.(The terminology is from the Baltimore Catechism.) If you believe that, then it follows logically that abortion is murder.

But what about those of us who do not believe that God infuses a soul at conception, or don't believe in a soul, or in a god? I agree with Redbud that there is no place for us in the community of faith that is the Catholic Church. But does the Church - or Catholics - have the right to force their conclusion on those with different beliefs? Or penalize organizations that support other organizations that hold different beliefs? What of the freedom of religion that has stood the Catholic Church in such good stead in this country?

I'm guessing family planning involves the dreaded c-word, contraception. I'm also pretty sure I already know how you feel about that.

Planned Parenthood -- hmmmm. That implies PLANNING. That means informed choices for contraception (yes, so you can have SEX at will without getting pregnant!) For crying out loud. This ambivalence about sexuality is ridiculous. SEX is NORMAL.

Where on your disembled list does it rank procedures by the income they bring in? That would blow up your logic, wouldn't it?
PP is in the abortion business. Whatever your feelings, this is a fact.
The only "logic" that appears to be "blown up" is your own. Her list is clear. If you want an "income" list, go get it yourself and state the source for all to see. Otherwise, your argument has been powerfully refuted.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Scorpio

Something that you've always taken for granted or believed implicitly could have a big question mark hanging over it during the next few weeks. The more entrenched your views are about this, the more difficult it will be to accept that perhaps it's time for a change of opinion or, at the very least, a revaluation of what you think. Mercury turns retro in your house of communications, so do your best to be open-minded now.
