I might have botulism

It's happening right now, after a month of strange symptoms,I have bad problem breathing for last 2 days, for last 3 weeks I wasn't able to swallow any food and i haven't eaten anything, in the last 3 days I am not able to even swallow any liquid, if I swallow anything I feel like I can't breathe for a while. I am feeling very weak right now,it'd happening for the whole month and the doctors haven't even considered it, until I came accross the documents about botulism on the internet.
This morning I rushed to my doctor's office and told her about it, she ordered test for botulism toxin and she said that she is going to send the food I ate for analysis.
Everything started one month ago on march 16. 2006 when i ate some chicken , I got it for a present from my ex, for my sons birthday,it was ready cooked chicken both in the store.
I ate it and I immidiatelly got a bad vertigo, I almost fell, I had bad naussia, and the ambulance came.
In the hospital they didn't do anything, the doctor told me: o its probably food poisoning go sleep it off....
second time the vertigo happened, was the next day, the ambulance took me to the hospital again, I felt very bad.
The doctor said its a virus, the ear infection, even though I haven't had any pains in my ear,nore high fever or any symptoms of ear infection....
Now my throat is paralyzed totaly, I can't swallow even water and I have bad problem breathing..of course nobody thinks its anything serious, I feell very bad...
and if I have botulism I am going to die like this with noone considering to help me

I'm having neck pains and some feelings of stiffness, along with nausea and a difficult time of focusing, after having applied honey to my face for a few weeks as an acne treatment. My worry is that that honey may have been contaminated with botulism, and spores may have gotten into my system through broken skin. Is this possible? Is it likely?

It's possible that you could have an infection in a cut or break in the skin. You should get checked out, especially if you're getting worse. Doctors see everything, so definately don't be embarrased.

It's possible that you have botulism but if your doctor has ruled out against it, maybe what you're having is psychological in etiology. Try to relax and divert your attention to other things because the more your anxiety escalates, the worse your symptoms will be. I know this because I experienced your symptoms last year. I coudn't eat anything solid because I was afraid that I might choke on it. It started when I thought I had rabies. I even rushed myself to the Emergency Department several times but the diagnoses that came were as trivial as URT. Imagine I lost more than 10 lbs in a month! But after a while, I learned how to control my anxiety and developed new coping abilities and the symptoms gradually disappeared.(Now, I wish to get such illness again to lose the 22 lbs I gained eversince! just kidding.) fr

Lambert-Eaton syndrome

Poliomyelitis

Tick paralysis

Cerebrovascular disease of the brainstem

Basilar artery stroke

Encephalitis

Diphtheria

Neurasthenia

Progressive external ophthalmoplegia

Intracranial mass lesions

Drugs, penicillamine

Aminoglycosides: Very large doses can induce neuromuscular blockade.

Poisonings by atropine, scopolamine, organophosphate insecticides, shellfish, amanita mushrooms, carbon monoxide, methyl alcohol, methyl chloride, and sodium fluoride

Congenital neuropathy or myopathy

a good friend of mine was diagnosed with botulism. I think if you had it - you would know. My friend is currently in ICU at a hospital in California, completely paralyzed, as she has been for a week.

She was initially treated as if she had a stroke, but fortunately she was diagnosed before she died (which was close).

They don't know how long the paralysis will last. The doctors all said this is so rare, most have never seen it. It is horrible.

I read your comment and am very concerned. I have I put her on my prayer list. God has called me to pray for botulism victims. I am sorry about her sickness. I felt a need to pray on June the 29th and this prayer may have covered her.

I have been sick for weeks and the doctors at county have refuse me blood tests. I went to Redlands Community and they took blood for cultures. I am concerned that the cultures will not show anything, because clostrida is a difficult diagnostic? My mouth is so dry, I have had visual problems, pains and stinging. I felt weak in the shoulders, my eyes and face were swelling. then I got lumps over eyes. The first ER doctor said staph and I took Bactirm and was doing better, but not gone yet, I told him please help me, I have pain shooting over eyes, give me Doxacyclin, try someting. It helped only a little. I have been off any antiobiotics for over ten days and getting worse again. The dry mouth is horrible, there is slow up of bowel for sometime. Urine got slow last time. The ER doctor at county refused me any treatment last time I went, gave me a headache paper, and panic attack paper.I was crying and begging for blood tests. He siad you do not have a fever, go to the clinic doctor. The clinic let me in a week thanks to patient advocate. I took a paper to the lab and found out he ordered no cultures, but drug test!He did order some regular new patient work up stuff. I had a can blow up a while back. Pears. It had green stuff all over other can bases. The pearjuice was all over the cabinet base when we found it. I was cleaning up because daughter sole condo. When the explosion occured, I did not know what it could be. I originally ate from another can of pears, two piced. I recall the can smelled a bit tinny. and think I may have glanced my finger on the lid. I called everyone in the county and state and now one showed any interest. The doctors would not listen to me, until I went to Redlands. But they do not do the rat test for Botulism. Can they find it with regular cultures?

I just had shock sensations in perrineum even, a flushed feeling and heart palpitaions are pretty regular. Several times I told my children I will maybe die after while. I hope to hear about blood cultures soon.
