amber wrote: I have another side effect that I havent seen listed here. I have NEVER, ever in my life had a bacterial or yeast infection. I am 27 and have been on BC pills for 13 years. After getting these new smaller pills a couple of months ago, I experienced severe vaginal itching within 3 weeks of taking them. I had been on the TriNessa brand of birth control for years without problems. I have experinced severe itching for a week before and a week after my period for the last few months. Enough so that I have stopped taking BC all together. I was even given meds for yeast and bacterial infections to try and get rid of the itching, eventhough all tests for these infections were negative. Didnt work. So, that only left the birth control to blame. The only other symptom that I have experinced was blurred vision, which I didnt even realize could be connected until reading these posts. Now that I think back, that started around the same time as the itching. Does anyone have any info on if the change in vision could be permanent? I think I remember another poster saying something about blood clots behind the eyes. That sounds scary. Shame on that company. We should have been notified. I have itching down there too! Started after my first week on the new Trinessa. I still have a couple weeks left and then Ortho Tricyclen it is. Sad, cause I was faithful to Trinessa for 7 years. By the way, if you want something natural for the yeast and bacteria 1 1/2 cups organic apple cider vinegar in bathwater to your ankles will allieviate (sp) that. You have to sit in it for like 30 min. Now that is one thing I love :)

The new trinessa is the devil. When I noticed the pill size changed I didn't think much of it, what a mistake. I had been taking trinessa for 4 years with no problem and when I began taking the new ones I was the meanest most hateful person. I broke out with acne all over my entire face, I'M 20 YEARS OLD and I've never had problems with acne. I cried almost every night, I was so depressed. My life was falling apart and I was treating everyone like trash. All I wanted to do was sit in my room and cry all day. I finally decided after trying to overcome all of these obstacles by just waiting, thinking it was just a phase I was going through I called my doctor and switched to Yaz. I've been taking it with amazing changes, I feel like crying tears of joy. I can't even describe the way I felt while taking the new trinessa pills. Someone should be sued for all the problems they've caused us all.

Thanks for all the advice ladies!! This month I tried the non-generic Ortho Tri-Cylcen. It was MUCH more money than the trinessa, but I couldn't take it anymore. The side affects are starting to maybe settle down. Lots of people on this forum have suggested Yaz---whats the scoop?? the good, the bad and the ugly??

I finally decided to Google "Trinessa pill change" tonight, and here's what showed up. I've taken 3-4 (I can't quite remember) full packs of the "new" Trinessa and have also had problems. Like others mentioned before, I broke out with acne on my face, and had very severe cramps during my period. I decided to wait it out for a while, hoping that my body would adjust, but after 3 months with no improvement, I decided to switch to TriSprintec. I'm on my second week. So far, I haven't had any nausea problems, and my face has cleared up considerably, so the real test will be when my period comes. I originally started taking birth control a few years ago because of terrible cramps, so they had better be improved!

I'm so glad I found this forum. I'v been on TriNessa for a little over a year and I noticed a few months back when the pills changed. I take it for my skin, its the only thing that had worked to clear it up but I had gone off the pills for about 3 months and when I got back on them that was when it changed. It said on the package that they changed the size and I noticed the color changed but it didn't say they changed what was in them. My skin hasn't been so great since the "new" pills. I didn't understand what was going on, It's like they just didn't work anymore. Luckily I don't really have issues with cramping or spotting but I get so depressed when my skin is bad. This really angers me because I had finally thought I found the answer to my skin and now I will have to try a different pill and hope it works. They should be sued by everyone that has had a bad reaction to this "new" pill.

The brand name of Trinessa, Ortho Tri Cyclen, is much better. I take it for acne and it works a lot better than Trinessa!

I am so glad I found this forum! I work as a pharmacy technician and I have been on Tri-nessa for about 6 years. Loved it and never had a problem until the new ndc and new look came out a few months ago. I bleed randomly throughout the month and feel bloated. My periods last longer too. I have been on the new ndc for about 4 months and nothing seems to be improving. The truth about brand/generics: as long as the generics have the same active ingredients,it is said to be the "same thing." now, there is also a requirement that the generic must be within 25% range (higher or lower) equal to that of the active ingredients of the brand name. So, with that said we might be getting more or we might be getting less of the drug compared to the old ndc/pill size. I am not sure if i should wait it out or change to another pill. Suggestions?

I have been on Trinessa for several years until my pharmacy stopped carrying them back in June and started me on Trisprintec. I wondered why I was gaining so much weight and was extra moody until it hit me that even though they are supposed to be "the same pill" they are very different! I went back to Trinessa on Sunday night and noticed how much smaller they are in comparison to Trisprintec too! I thought they looked smaller because of the horse pills I have been taking the last few months. I hope I start to lose weight and feel more like myself soon. The hormones must be less in Trinessa, right? Kate87 wrote: I've been taking TriNessa since 2005, with a brief hiatus last summer when they switched me to TriSprintec, which made me really sick. I've been taking TriNessa since late August. I just opened my new pill pack on Sunday, and I swear the pills are about 2/3 the size they used to be - they're so tiny! Has anyone else noticed this? Nothing else has changed with the pill other than the size, right? I googled it but can't find anything.

Kay-the hormones in TriSprintec and Trinessa are exactly the same. The only difference is the fillers used in the pills. Some people react differently to the different fillers in different pills.

The size of Trinessa was cut in half and I noticed feeling different, switched to the brand name, Ortho Tri Cyclen, and have been feeling much better. Now my new pack of Ortho Tri Cyclen is also half the size! I'm still at the beginning of it and hope I'm not affected by it. Apparently I was reacting to the inactive ingredients in Trinessa when it had been reduced in size and reformulated. Has anyone else noticed smaller pills for Ortho Tri Cyclen?

the size of the pill doesnt matter. It is all about the inactive ingredients. I got sick of bleeding every week so, I started back on brand name ortho tri cyclen on sunday. i hate it because my insurance wont cover the brand. does anyone know where i can get a coupon online for the brand name? if anyone is having problems with bleeding or any changes, I would recommend just going back to the brand. sure it might be $50 more but, its definitely worth it.

I have been taking Ortho tri cyclen for a year to clear up my skin. It's the only thing that has worked! And amazingly it's the only bc pill I've ever taken that didn't make me moody/mean/depressed, and didn't mess w/ my sex drive!!! When I got my new pack last month I immediately noticed the change in pill size and color. I'm worried that it might not work the same. I broke out a little in the first 2 weeks but I attributed it to not washing my make up off every night. But I just started thinking about how I've been REALLY moody lately, snapping at my boyfriend and co-workers and just feeling all around cranky :( Plus my sex drive has all but disappeared. So I googled Ortho tri cyclen change in pill size and found this forum. It all makes sense now.....and it sucks! I'm hoping the new side effects will subside w/ the next pack of pills.

Has anyone noticed having a bad taste in their mouth since the change in pill size? I never thought about attributing it to the pill, but for the past few months I've had a consistently foul taste in my mouth, and it's not diet related. It kinda tastes like a bad after taste of Caesar salad dressing - it's not metallic, and not really bitter or sour...just kinda gross. Even Altoids aren't helping anymore. I think this may be causing some of the nausea I've been having.
Anyway, I'm not taking any new meds, and I notice the taste is worse in the afternoon and evening, but not in the morning. I take my pill around 2pm so I'm wondering if there's a connection.

Wow, okay, this all scares me now. I'd been holding off on doing anything like calling doctors because i figured my period would lighten up and go away? But now i'm going to have to call, this is getting out of hand.
Anyways, what i've been going through is just lately. I've been taking the new pills for 3 or 4 packs, can't remember. I don't remember anything too bad happening until now.
I had my original period at the end of Oct.(the 26th) and then it ended around the 30th, 31th i think. Suddenly it starts up again on the 1st! It was terrible! And i've been having my period since then! Cramps and everything. Not to mention i've had what a few of these other girls have had. The urge to cry a lot, moody... i'd been going off on my boyfriend for stupid things and he was getting upset with me and it was big stupid mess because nothing was really wrong!!
So yeah, i might be calling my mom's doctor today. I don't have one yet (22 and never been, terrible. x.x) so i'll have to arrange that. ><
I hope this is all just because of these new pills!
