I just made that change. Doctors will tell you it's the exact same thing. IT'S NOT. I've been bitchier this month than any other month I've been on birth control!

Jse5712 is absolutely right. It turned me into a completely different person within the first 3 days. I stayed on it for about a month and I couldn't handle it anymore--crazy mood swings, cramps--it nearly destroyed my marriage!!! Beware!

I've been on tri-sprintec for almost a month now and have noticed no side effects other than a little breakthrough bleeding - but this is my first month so maybe it'll fix itself. Give it a try...I was scared at first because I heard a lot of horror stories, but I haven't noticed any mood swings.

I have been on Tri-Sprintec for a few months now and I hate it!!! I have break through bleeding the entire week before my period, my cramps start earlier, and I am a total bitch for about 2 weeks. I was never like this on Ortho. Try Tri-Nessa or stick with Ortho I didnt have problems with either one.

I was on Ortho for 9 years!!! No real side-effects. A few breaks here and there, but basically nine years. Then, becuase of insurance changes, switched to tri-sprintec, and hate it!! I've been on tri-sprintec for about 5 months now. I became super sensitive, and would just start crying for no reason. No reason at all, it sucks. I had to go to my Dr. and ask to be switched, I was prescribed YAZ and will be starting it in 2 weeks. I'm hoping for some good results, we shall see.

Thanks for the response ladies....

Well I'm ready to be done with it...my mood swings aren't bad at all. I have bleeding either a week or a couple of days before I start the placeebo pills....my period is longer than it was before I even went on the pill and the cramps are horrible. I've been on the pill for a year now...first 6 months othro and I starte tri sprentic in may or june I believe...I'm sure my body is used to the horamones by now. I haven't experienced any weight gain...maybe 5 pounds but its not a big deal. I just want my periods to be lighter and less painful....I might as well stop using them all together.

I began taking Ortho-Tri Cyclen in 2004 and got switched over to Tri-Sprintec in April of 2007 because of insurance. The first few months were fairly symptom free, but since then this pill has had nothing but negative effects!! I am depressed, moody... I have breakthrough spotting the week before my placebo pills and have pretty heavy cramping much of the week before my period. My periods are usually really light on Tri-Sprintec, but still last 5-6 days. Have also experienced extremely painful headaches the last few months on this pill. Can't wait to switch back!

I was on Ortho Lo a few years ago, and had no negetive effects. I recently restarted birth control and because of insurance I too was given Tri-Sprintec... until reading these posts I thought I was just sick all the time. I feel like crap!!! Headaches, nausea, lethargy, moodiness... you name it, i've had it. Sometimes I thought I was pregnant because my symptoms were so severe, and so regular. I've been on it for a few months, and if I thought it could have been the culprit, I would have stopped it a long time ago.

I am with Denise on this. Stay away from tri nessa. I have been on it for five days and it has been horrible. I started my period two weeks before I was suppose to. I am bloated, angry and moody, but worse of all I have had very bad migraine headaches and no energy. I switched from Tri Sprintec because the pharmacy didn't have it in stock, after experiencing tri nessa I appreciate Tri sprintec. The only side effects I experienced with Tri sprintec were tender breast but I'll take that anyday over the side effects I experience with tri nessa.

My girlfriend is taking Tri-Sprintec and im curious as to if this could be a reason why all this is happening, She is a great woman we have been together almost a year the entire time she has been taking this pill, and recently this month in paticular she has had many mood swings moved back into her parents house but swears and claims everything is fine and she still loves me, completly out of the ordinary for her and nothing has changed in our relationship thus far if anything its getting better please enlighten me on if this could be becuase of the pill!

I was on this pill for 1 year....miss not one single pill....I took it right when I got to work every morning and on weekends I set my alarm, I never missed a pill and, say hello to my 5 month old! Everyone says I must have messed up somewhere...but when I already have a 2 year old, and didn't want another for another 3-4 years, I watched my pill taking like a hawk! So this one was not operater error! Either there is a flaw somewhere or the Boss upstairs had other idea's for me!

wow thank goodness there are other people out there like me! I, too, was unknowingly switched to the generic tri lo sprintec. I knew when i got it that i would get headaches. Sure enough i have a horrid headache every single day, and i typically do not get these headaches (except when i forget to take the pill at night and wait until the morning). I just started a new job with great medication benefits. My name brand was only $25 when i finished the prescription. I joined a gym and have been eating better than i did in college, thanks to a schedule. I have gained over 5 lbs. on this generic brand. I am finishing up my first pack this week and already had my doctor write me a medically-necessary name brand script. I hate the pharmaceutical industry. I haven't noticed an increase in sex drive because i have never had a problem with mine. I haven't had any unusual mood swings or anxiety attacks. Just 5 lbs to my mid section!!! I thought i was going crazy!!

I just went on Tri Lo Sprintec after being on Ortho Tri Cyclin Lo and this has been the worst month i've ever had on birth control. I'm incredibly moody almost bipolar-like, when normally i'm just kind of calm and relaxed, I panic a lot in the car for no reason, or get mad for no reason, I can't sleep and i'm not hungry ever, my sex drive is down to NOTHING, and my boobs have gotten smaller and i've gained about five pounds. The other day on a date my long term boyfriend begged me close to tears not to take the pill when it was my scheduled time because he absolutely hates how I am on it. It's killing our relationship because I get mad at the smallest things and then he takes it personally, and we just erupt...and since I never want to have sex that's abotu all we are now..just fighting. I just went to the bathroom and it is a week before my scheduled period and I am bleeding heavier than I have for any other period. Normally i'm normal and light, but this is ridiculous. Dont take this pill if you can avoid it. I'm calling the doctor tomorrow and getting off.

On Ortho I never had any problems like this at all, and things were absolutely fine. I was also on Trinessa, a generic, for a while, and that wasn't good, but wasn't as bad as Tri Lo Sprintec..
