I've been using the nuvaring for awhile, but I'm not sure if you have to not have sex for a certain amount of time before you take it out. So if I take mine out on tuesday morning, can I have sex monday night or earlier tuesday morning? Just curious, does anybody know?

I've been on it for two months.. I am having terrible mood swings!! I hope that it is just an adjustment problem because I don't want to get an IUD yet... it's the first time I've ever been on birth control and honestly.. my period is almost a pleasure because it's a week away from my horrible mood swings! I'm going to keep with it / ride it out.. even though the reason I am using it (boyfriend) I just broke up with.. prolly because of my birth control... I think guys ought to be required to take it for a week or two! Seriously..

My Doctor said I could take the ring out for no more than 3 hours during sex. I forgot to put it back in last night and had it out for 6 hours. Does anyone know what the effect of that could be? Do I need extra protection for the rest of the month or do I need to just becareful the next few nights.
I have experienced some extreme mood swings during the time period I remove it...Is this common? I have my boyfriend ,friends, and family asking me whats wrong....and I just break out into tears for absolutely no reason. I've been on it for 7 months and I've noticed an increase of this behavior....however only during the week it's removed.
I have the same problem. It is consistent: extreme pms/mood swings for the week that I take it out. Have you found any info regarding this side effect? I know it can be very difficult to deal with.

I was a huge fan of the Nuva Ring, I told all my friends about it, how fabulous it was, made my periods super short, right on time, easy, no worries, ect.

I have been off the Nuva Ring for 4 months now, lost all the weight I gained (about 40 pounds), I feel like a human, my sex drive is back.

I was on the Nuva ring for about 4 years and I never realized how negative it was for me.

Most BC options involve hormones, which will lead to weight gain, decreased sex drive, and play games with your emotions, so I guess as far as hormonal birth control goes the ring isnt that bad, but Im definitely investigation non hormonal options.

I got pregnant off the ring the 1st time I used it because I did not insert it properly. I chose to terminate the pregnancy because I had just had a baby and he was only 2.5mos old.

I went back on the ring after that and it has worked wonders for me because i didn't gain weight, it lessened my cycle, and it is conveniant for me.

People ask if I could remember the date I inserted it, and when to replace it, and I was worried about that as well....but in reality there was no issue with that. Also, if you go on the nuva ring site you can order a timer that helps you to remember when to insert it and take it out. The time is free but it takes about 3mos before you get it in the mail.

i am fourteen & i'm on nuvaring cause my period is horrible. not because i'm sexually active. my doctor recommended me to nuvaring. she said it was best for young girls. its eaiser then the pill, because you don't have to remember to take it everyday. well, i hate nuvaring. it causes vaginial secretion which is very annoying & makes me cry.! i have headaches for days. i can't fit any of my clothes. its making me gain so much weight. & i am active. play three different sports. & i'm not losing what i am gaining. on top of it it put me in so much pain. i can't feel it. but i know its there & it makes me so mad.! next visit to the gyn i'm switching to the pill. so, nuvaring was not for me.! thanks for reading. but i wanted to see if anyone else has these dreadful problems with their nuvaring.?

A little hint of advice for inserting the Nuva Ring that I learned from my gyno. Get a plastic tampon applicator, remove the tampon and put the ring into the applicator....then just insert is as you would a tampon. It helps with getting it farther up into your vagina and you can't feel it one bit!

It's my second week on the Nuvaring. At first I took Yaz, but the mood swings were horrible. Then, I switched to Orthotricyclen Lo, which also gave me mood swings but less and now, the Nuvaring gives me no mood swings, so that's awesome! BUT- My sex drive has diminished significantly and also due to the nuvaring, I've had vaginal itching and also stinging, especially after sex. It hurts horribly.. so, I'm seeing my doctor next week to switch to something else. Maybe even the copper iud (although I'm nervous b/c I've heard it hurts a lot if you haven't had kids), but I'm just so tired of having to take all these hormones!

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Taurus

Get involved in financial transactions at your peril under today's Lunar Eclipse, because certain people will use them as a stick to beat you with. For instance, if you ask someone to lend you money they'll either make you feel guilty about it or dredge up all sorts of past instances when their trust was betrayed. You would also be well advised to avoid any show of possessiveness or jealousy, even if you feel it, unless you truly don't care about the disastrous outcome.
