OK, so I have been reading up on all of this and have come to the conclusion that no brand of birth control is good for us. I'm just going to stop taking anything all together.
I liked being on BC for so many reasons. No cramps...this made it so on my period I didn't have to take 4 Advils a day, which are not good for me, but honestly the birth control pills will most likely do a whole hell of a lot more damage.
As for the heaviness of my periods, I guess I'll just deal...and as for discharge, I can just eat a whole lot of plain yogurt to keep me fresh. There are a lot of ways for a healthy vagina, I think eating healthy foods are good for so many reasons and staying fresh is just another incentive. Yay positivity!
But something else to consider is as the pain is treated more and more by Advils, Aleve, etc., my body will grow more and more tolerant to its effects, so what happens when those stop working for me? Take Vicoden? Scary.
This is tough.

hey malory,

good luck! thats just what i did. i was on yasmin for 3 years and yaz for about a year and then i started seeing the commercials about the lawsiut, so i switched to ortho tri cyclen lo, and then i started looking up info on ortho tri and found that alot of people were having problems with that too. so i just decided to get off the pill in general! i always had bad cramps, and heavy bleeding, which is why i got on the pill in the first place but now i have found that since i have been off the pill for about 6 months my cramps arent too bad anymore, i still have the heavy bleeding but i can deal with that.in the beginning when i first got off the pill i did have some bad bad pain i was crying and everything. but it has gotten alot better over time since i have been off. so now i am happy that i am off the pill. hope everything works out for you!

I'm a healthy thirty-year-old. I don't smoke. I'm not obese. But I still ended up in the hospital after taking Ortho-Tricyclen Lo.
I was admitted to the hospital with acute pancreatitis. I was in intensive care for three weeks before they removed my gallbladder.
Is there anyone else out there who has had similar experiences? I sent an Adverse Event report to the FDA at www.FDA/medwatch.com You can do the same.

Problems! Problems! Problems!
First of all I'm 19, and I have been on YAZ for 5 months now. When I first started I seriously thought it was the miracle pill, no cramps, short periods, no bloating, no acne... Now, my sex life is ruined, from 115 to 133 punds, complete dryness, my husband even bought me sexual enhancement pills for women, depression, incredible hair loss, easy swollen legs, and tight chest (can't breath as normal), honestly my marriage is just trying to survive because os sooo many fights we have! I have a doctor's appointment on Dec 2 to check up. I hope I dont have any clots but the doctor has the final answer. If you are on YAZ- GET OFF AND SAVE YOUR LIFE! If anyone has any comments or recommendation about my problem please e-mail me at therose_model04@gmail.com

E-mail correction: therose_model04@yahoo.com
I apologize,I have 3 different e-mail accounts. We just moved to NC --Husband is in the military-- I dont have a primary doctor yet, but I'm thinking about calling the GYN on base and try to get an earlier appointment. I'm so scared that they might find something. My husband doesnt believe is the birth control causing so much problems,he thinks its just me and tells me I should just "suck it up". Thank you Robert!

So today I had trouble breathing in the morning, so I decided to go to the hospital and got a X-Ray of my chest and the doctor took blood and urine samples. They found NOTHING. How could this be?

I just stumbled upon this site a few minutes ago. When i was first put on bc pills years ago, i started w/ ortho tri cyclen lo for about a year or so until i had to switch to another generic (kariva) for insurance purposes. Once i got my own insurance, it allwed me to switch back to ortho tri cyclen lo. I haven't had any problems at all with Lo. Even now, i'm still not having any issues, EXCEPT the fact that this past July 2009 there was a generic Lo released called TriLo Sprintec. I just found this info out a little bit ago, and also found out that it is no longer on the market. My pharmacy said that there was a law suit in process; something about not waiting long enough after the brand name was released to release the generic. Since there is/was a generic for Lo available, the brand name became more expensive (non-preferred drug). You'd think that since the generic version of Lo isn't on the market, that the brand name would drop in price and become preferred again, but it's not. So, now Lo's just more expensive that it was originally, without a generic available. Anyway, like i mentioned - Other than insurance issues (i've only been w/ 2 diff companies), i haven't had any problems w/ Lo - everyone should just know that there was a generic available, but now it's not. =)

Even three days after taking YAZ I was so emotional
Im on my fourth pack and feel tired, sad, have terrible anxeity, talks of suicide, and my poor bf cops the most it. I just cry and the smallest thing. And people annoy me so much! Im normally fun, outgoing, and nothing bothers me. Im going to try a new pill when this pack is done. Im glad im not the only one going crazy!=(

I have taken several birthcontrols in the last year and currently I am on YAZ. It is by far the worst. I have headaches everyday, my appetite has decreased, and i love to eat usually, and I have been making mountains out of molehills. Everything makes me irritated, and my boyfriend & I have been having issues. I cry a lot and I even feel depressed. I am going to try out Ortho Tri Cyclen and hopefully that goes better for me!

25, non smoker, very healthy...
Like some other posters here, I had a wonderful reaction to yaz. Other bc's i've been on made me a neurotic mess--anxious, depressed, defensive...etc.(otcl, migrogestin fe, trivora) But with yaz, my moods were stable, no loss of libido, and I lost about 15 lbs (starting at 140#). HOWEVER, Because I was so happy to have a bc that didn't make me crazy, I was too willing to overlook the fact that yaz was giving me persistent chest pain, sometimes shooting into my left arm causing numbness and/or tingling in my hand. I also have odd headaches that throb in one spot or another. After reading about other people's testimonies, I AM NEVER TAKING THIS PILL AGAIN. I'm looking at non-chemical forms of bc that I hope work for me. It's just not worth it. I'm too young to be miserable or worse, dead.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Sagittarius

Mercury turning retrograde in your house of finances carries a rather unseasonal message, because it's telling you to pay attention to your finances over the next few weeks. If you already know that you've overspent this month, you won't need to be told that a few economies are just around the corner. Get the facts straight and pay attention to the small print. You may also have to make some adjustments to an intimate relationship so it can move into another phase.
