As a white person I feel animosity from some african americans, but not all of them because some of them are kind hearted. I was born after Martin Luther King died.
Some of the older african americans who suffered hardships tend to hold animosity against me for being white.
I never grew up having a maid. We did our own house chores and my mom cleaned the house also. I did not grow up with a cook. My mom cooked or we cooked. I have held a cleaning job and cleaned houses for numerous people for paid income. Where I came from a nanny was not just a black person's job. A nanny could be any race. I even worked as a live-in nanny babysitting kids. People of all races are hired as nannys not just african americans. We even had to shovel the driveway where we lived. We did not have servants do that.
I did not grow up in a racist "confederate" community eventhough my pale skin color appears to look confederate. I work with african americans and they are a part of my everyday life. I have never been segregated from african americans during my lifetime. I never had anything to do with the white supremist racist narrowminded culture.
My last name is common among former slave holders, however my foreign swedish last name was changed to an english name. A lot of african americans think my ancesters had slaves. My swedish ancesters did not arrive to America until after slavery was abolished.
Different white cultures do different things. Some white cultures are cruel and racist and other white cultures are not. I am sick of being thrown in that racist boat because of my pale white skin color. Some african americans assume every white culture is racist and cruel.
Example: One african american had the nerve to
ask me if I am a member of PETA? That is a racist question because PETA is known for picking on african americans. I said no I am not a member of PETA.
Example: One african american had the nerve to go off at me about a white person having a confederate flag in their yard. I don't own any confederate flag stuff. Why did she go off at me about that? Because of my pale white "confederate" looking skin.
It make me mad because I am a compassionate person and I feel that some african americans can't see me for who I am without judging my pale white skin color.
I feel like I also am thrown into the conspiracy of the past.
