Tracy HY TRACY yes you are prime example of candida or yeast infection what happen when one eats wrong food one ferments it creates ethanol and rot that rot feeds your body cells and keep fermenting magnesium is factor of nerve transmission coz magnesium is sweet by taste candida loves it and burns it up then your muscles go into spasm or constriction almost all diseases are caused and grossly ignored are candidal origin which inflames whole body non candidal diet is for life

i m 36, i have this problem since quite sometime. i cannot sleep straight, i feel tightening in the back often leading to pain episodes for days. stretching etc did not help me get rid of the pain caused due to sleeping straight (resting flat on back).
but i have tried this and its working, i rest my legs on a hard bolster pillow while sleeping straight on the bed and the relief is instant.
later while shifting, if shifting to left i place the pillow below the right knee by putting that foot forward, so the height of the knee on the pillow prevents the back to get in to irritable position. similarly for shifting right.
during day i place a flat pillow on the chair and it prevents pain.
i guess this condition should happen to those people whose back shape is slightly more curved. this condition while sleeping straight must be causing problem.

I've been getting spasms in the upper right section of my back for a few days now. They start a few hours into sleep and gradually get more and more painful, radiating to the front and across the abdomen. I've found that applying heat to the root of the pain (I use a hot water bottle) for as long as possible really helps. So does sleeping on a single thin pillow.

I have the tightening lower back muscles and spasms only when I sleep. I can't even get out of bed in the morning without grabbing onto the headboard and swinging myself out so my body can't stop me when it realizes the pain. I have recently started a mild stretch when I go to bed and on my bed that is helping me. I hope I can explain it... I lay on my back with my knee's bent I turn my ead to the right and lay my knees to the left and hold, it hurt like **** when I first started but I could feel the muscles start to relax then I do the same in the opposite direction. I repeat this until it don't hurt or mildly hurts back and forth as the muscles tend to relax a little more each time. I have found if I do this at bed time and BEFORE I get up it makes a world of difference. I have recently started doing the same type of thing with both knees and bringing them and my head together which helps but I find I need to do the side to side again after to relax the muscles more. I pray this helps you as I know the pain your having and was tired of being on meds and in a comatose state to not feel pain so got off meds and am doing this. I am sleeping 6 hrs a night about and seem to be doing better each day. I also sleep on my side with the BOTTOM leg bent and top leg out straight (either side) which is the only way I can sleep on my side.

Mr B wrote: I have the same problem! It's the worst if I sleep on ether side. sometimes it turns into spasms. The only way I can shift around is if I do it slowly. Then it feels like a welcome stretch. I have no pain before going to bed but I feel like crap when I wake up! <quoted text> Are u still suffering from this? Did you get any relief? If so, how? Please provide details. Thank you so much.

Like many of you here I suffer from extreme back muscle spasms in the morning. Sometimes the spasms are so bad that I can't stand. This has been ongoing for months now and I felt totally helpless and depressed about it. But it can get better. My doctor prescribed me Flexeril which immediately stopped the spasms. I had to half the dose, 5mg., to eliminate drowsiness and increase my water intake being it made me thirsty, but it worked. I was slowly able to begin exercises and was on track to even take off some of the extra weight I have put on. But after two weeks the prescription ran out and my doctor won't prescribe me more. It appears that the medical world is afraid that I might get addicted to my daily 5mg of muscle relaxant. I've never seen a Flexeril junkie hanging out in front of physical therapy and the last time I checked Flexeril was not listed as a dangerous narcotic. Slowly the spasms are returning and I am less able to exercise.I am beginning feel that helpless feeling that all of you talk about...but I will somehow find a doctor to give me a prescription or, yes, find it illegally, thanks to the stupid state of medicine. I suspect being that I was suffering with these spasms for four months that it will take at least one month or more to get better. Good luck with finding your own relief and feel better!

Also the knee exercises that Judy Mae talks about here before bed and upon waking up do work. Try them! As well when you get out of bed, sit on the edge of the bed for up to five minutes. It allows your brain some time to wake up and ease the muscles into action. getting up fast is a no no. Oh and lastly, don't exercise through the pain. exercise up to the point where it hurts. I have found that over exerting the muscles just makes things worse. It's gradual exercise that helps. Okay, off I go to my local park to find a drug dealer that offers Flexeril!

I am a 36 yr old female in very good shape. I exercise 5 days a week for more than an hour. For the past year I have had sever back spasms when I sleep and only then. Otherwise no pain at all. Although I do feel sore sometimes in my lower back in the morning. The pain sets in about 3-4 hours after I fall asleep and my muscles in my upper and lower back feel like they are locking up. I feel very stiff upon waking but as soon as I get moving it disappears.I've been to the chiropractor hundreds of times for adjustments, had massages and tried stretches daily. I'e tries muscles relaxers and pain pills help some. Nothing seems to help completely. I even purchased a new tempur pedic mattress and no change. I am so tired and frustrated! Any adivce?
