I recently had a L3, L4, L5 and SI spinal fusion. I can honestly say that after only 3 monthes I have never felt better. However, I am experiencing some strange noises within myself. This meaning no one else can hear it but i can hear and feel it. It is almost like a crunching or popping. I would say more so a crunching. Is this normal? Is it bc I have so much hardware in my back. Its freaking me out alittle. Hope someone has the answer!!:)

I had spinal fusion about 15 months ago and I had L5 to T4 and I it's been pretty good 6 months after i recovered but now it's been over a year and my back feels super tight and stiff and I've done the whole physical therapy and it doesn't help I play volleyball and have 2 children so I very active but about 2 months ago I fell down some carpeted steps and it stung for a minute but I ignored it and now I'm having trouble getting out of bed to do my normal activites going to see my orthopedic tomorrow but scared because my back is still fairly numb so I dont wanna hear i ruined my hardware. But I never heard you could get it removed wouldnt that make your back curve again because i had scoliosis.

18 years old got in a bad car accident in Jan. Shattered my L1. Fused T11-L3 2rods 8 screws and a cross link. I'm 8months post op and feel worse now then I did a month post op. I have severe nerve pain and muscle pain. spasms. and Sciatica from nerve compression. runs down into my hips and legs. Also I have a pressure like feeling in my lower back. My hardware will never come out so removing it is not a option. I've tried just about everything to relieve the pain. Anyone have anymore suggestions that works for you??

I have this same problem. i had spinal fusion done in jan this year. 2rds and 8screws. my pain goes into my hips that shoots down my legs. i cant bend down or it feels like m back is ripping apart when i come up. my legs often go numb. my doctor contributed it to sciatica and mechanical tension. he put me on a muscle relaxer and neurontin. it seems to help but it doesnt take it away completey but takes the eage off.

I had a fusion l4-l5 s1 in March and 4 months after I had terrible pain, went back to my doctor and he did a test that proved the cage that was in me was causing the problem, I had the cage removed 2 weeks ago and im still aching. Bee wrote: This is my first posting here, and just wondering if you can help. I had a fusion L4 L5 L5 S1 in May. I have this awful unbearable pressure/knot feeling in my lower back. It is unbearable some days and I just have to lye down after a few hours up most days with it. I am wondering if anyone can help, I have spoken to my neuro about it and he doesnt know what is causing it.

I just had surgery Dec 7. I had a fusion at L4-S1. I am experiencing burning in the front of my thigh and I have these "jerky" movements in both my legs. Anyone know about the movement in my legs or burning? Oh, also, I have this weird ache (like I would be badly bruised) in both buttocks. What is up? Plus, Im so antsy to get going with my regular life again! UUUUGGGgggggg!

i had spinal fusion on L4/L5 in november 2011 due to spondylothesis. I had very bad pain in my right leg due to sciatica being in a bind.I suffered through it for about a year and a half before the surgury. Its been 2 months now and for the most part the pain in my leg is gone. my only problems now are sitting for to long and sleeping. i would wake up in the morning and feel misrable for the first half of the day.Just an FYI for those with the same issues, I bought a matress cover from bed, bath, and beyond, made from 3" memory foam. Cost $300.00 and has been worth every penny. I feel much beter through out the day even after sitting at my desk all day.turning over in the middle of the night doesnt hurt as much and i get a better quality of rest. Overall i am happy with the results from the fusion and would do it again. My main peice of advise would be to take it as easy as you can for as long as you can. My back sure lets me know when i overdo it. Good luck to all.

I had a spine fusion 10 months ago. Before the surgery 2 discs were completely worn out 0% left with bone spurs. The pain was so bad even when heavily medicated I was in bed the whole day except for about an hour or two. After the surgery I take less than half the pain meds and live an almost normal life, but have major pain everyday. It's way better than before surgery, but it still hurts. Every morning I have painfully get up and take something for the pain. And pain meds are the worst creation ever. You can never have no pain or your tolerance goes up in a couple months. So, one day mostly no pain, then the next day take less and hurt more, then the next a little more and feel better, than the next day take less and hurt. It's a horrible thing to go through, that constant undying, unyielding, dull ache that doesn't go away. Well, at least I'm better than before, a lame horse that should be put down, to a person who can only work every other day if I'm lucky and has to take pain meds everyday.

I had my spinal fusion on April 9th and I know it is only 3 weeks post op but I am still having a major brusing feeling in the lower back and buttocks and hip region. I was wearing a hard brace for the first 2.5 weeks and then dr told me to take it off. Does anyone know if this is normal. My surgery was a anterior and posterior L4-S1 with decompression of all levels.
