The problem in the ERs, as well as after a same day surgery, is that the person who is given the instructions may be SICK. It can be hard to comprehend when you are in pain. Absolutely have another person there for the discharge instructions. Most hospitals put everything in writing also. After my surgery, I was still under the effects of anesthesia, but my husband was there and remembered everything I did not.

Many of us know to; Prime, clean and the flume is different the taste is different-we object to the extreme bronco spasms experienced when inhaling Ethanol a known toxin causing severe broncospasms in many asthmatics, which is in 3 of the HFA RESCUE inhalers, the 24 hr. nausea, the chest pain and stange rashes that appear! If you are experiencing adverse effects from any of the HFA inhalers please file a Medwatch complaint with the FDA and join our Campaign to Save CFC inhalers-just google us-thank you.

The new inhalers cost 2-3 times as much, get plugged easily, and empty 4-5 times as fast.

And they don't work. I was recently prescribed ProAir- an HFA inhaler- its completely useless. if it weren't for Advair i'd really be in trouble. i use the albuterol inhalers for back up/emergencies. Taking the Proair is worse than doing nothing at all- it feels like I'm poisoning myself and has NO EFFECT on my asthma. Miss the old inhaler.

The study that outlaws my lifesaving medication is absolute bullshit, environmental wackos have centered on my little bitty tiny inhaler that keeps me alive while staying silent on the factories and trucks that put thousands of tons of pollutants into the air, screw you jackasses that actually buy into this like my very existence is destroying the environment, the new medicines DO NOT WORK and I have limited time to live, deal with that!

As a lifelong asthmatic, I can say that this issue has a huge impact on me. Luckily, with Advair, I don't need to use my Albuterol inhaler very often anymore, but when I do, I want it to work like it is supposed to work. I have tried one of the new inhalers, and didn't have the problems that other posters described. However, there was a noticeable difference in the way it delivered the Albuterol.

Really, I think this is all much ado about nothing. There is no way that the CFCs from inhalers are causing much, if any, environmental damage. If anything, it is just a way for the pharmaceutical industry to increase profits on a product which has been in the market for years. With the new propellants, they will be able to recoup R&D costs on the design of the new inhalers and charge more for their products.
