They just cut my service off for $11 I did not owe them. Have emailed. Will call in the morning. I've been with them for 14 years. No more. I am DONE. We're are paying for TV now and these companies do what ever they want and profit what ever rule they enforce. I will get the bare minimum until I find a better company. Phone, internet and cable for a flat cheap rate sounds better. UN DIRECTED TV. I'm out.

DTV took 364.08 from my checking account on my debit card!! saying they didn't receive their equipment on time. We called and the equipment arrived on time but was in the warehouse and it would take 6-8 weeks for the money was to be returned. We were furious and spoke to a supervisor and they told us 7-10 days, At this point we stopped payment on my debit card with the bank. DTV returned the money so we reversed the stop. My bank statement states two debits and two credits and DTV still states we owe the money. After almost 1 hr. on phone and still didn't straighten it out we hung up. We sent our bank statement to DTV to show them. Lets see what happens now. They are a rip off company and think consumers are stupid. If they harass me we will be going to the attorney general. They are not even registered with the better business bureau. Imagine a huge company like this and now registered with them. Amazing.

After reading these comments, I am glad I have a hold on my credit via the big three credit checking companies. I told the girl trying to set me up that when they run my credit, they will have to go to a third party who confirms you are giving this company permission to run a check. She got a pop up on her screen saying, yep, need to dial another number. She have me a number to call myself. I called it, and it was an internal fraud number, that asked you to leave a message. I clicked back over to the phone rep for direct tv, and she said she would check with her stuporvisor. She came back and said I would have to get the credit hold lifted, call back, and get the service, they were not set up for this.
A large company like this, that cannot handle I am assuming the millions of possible customers who keep a "hold" on their credit, so that they cannot get scammed, and Direct TV cant work this? What idiots.
However, after reading all the above comments, I willl just stick to cable...

Today, many of our elder relatives are experiencing declines in health from many causes. As a result , many are seeking residency in communities offering assisted living and memory care. In many cases , they will not be able to gain access to certain services on their own. So, If you -on behalf of an elder relative-are considering opening an account with DIRECTV in your name, and there is even the slightest possibility whatsoever that you might have to cancel those services early DO NOT ENTER INTO ANY AGREEMENT WITH THEM. I speak from experience. That is as plain as I can make it.

I finally connect with somone at Directv who solved my proble, so in all fairness I thought it best to note that here. In the end, companies are made up of real human beings -many of whom have very real problems just like the rest of us.

I have had the worst experience with Direct of any company that I have ever dealt with. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS GETTING YOUR MONEY!!! They will even take it straight out of you bank account without permission. I would not recommend them to anyone and am now in the process of filing any and every complaint that I can find to file against them. They have now made this personal for me and I am making it my mission to do every single thing I can do to put them out of business. The way that they treat people is unacceptable and they only reason they get away with it is because people don't fight back. Please contact the Attorney General's office in your state to file a complaint against this company. Also, file complaints with the Better Business Bureau. And, if you are a customer of theirs, cover yourself by recording every single conversation you have with them. Never in my life have I had a company treat me so disrespectfully.

My wife wanted satellite. I resisted. She insisted. She chose Dreck TV. Just like our experience before, with Ditch TV, 100-odd channels and 99.99% crap. In fact it's worse; the channels are now so repugnantly dependent on infomercials that there's even less usable content. But be that as it may. That's the little stuff....the stuff we expected. The installers did an incredibly sloppy job, didn't clean up after themselves, left things falling apart. At least three times, my wife, kind-of an iron lady when it comes to dealing with dirtbags and weasels, has hung up on Dreck TV's dreck dingbats out of sheer exasperation with the double-talk, flim-flam and just plain mendacity. This is an amazing accomplishment for Dreck TV, as my wife can pretty well stay in any fight and almost likes pulling the proverbial wings off of human dirtbag flies. I guess that's one result of all her legal training. Well, our first year with Dreck just ended. And the price went up... almost double. This was after the stunt they pulled when she canceled the "free" channels that came for the first three months, which shuffled the price up some $10. So, what started at $36 or so is now neighborhood $80. And we just have the basic contract. No movie channels; nothing additional. $80. That's a lot of movies bought and rented, especially if one then turns around and trades around. Now I'm reading that Dreck TV hasn't learned a THING from lawsuits they've lost and the agreements they've been compelled to sign to compensate viewers and act better. NOT ONE THING. BBB gives them an F rating. It's time the states' attorneys general put the knee in the crotch of Dreck TV and its owners. Ah, let's see, that would be News Corp(se) and Liberty (sic) Media and a few Does, Roes, Moes and Schmoes. If the states and feds won't do it, well... there's always going back to buying content without the hideous, over-charging, mendacious, despicable pipeline. I think it's fair to bet that my wife will not have any disagreement with me in one year when I say, TERMINATE IT. Or, perhaps they'll straighten up and fly right... HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!, SURE.

I see DirectTV has set up a booth in my local Sams Club to sell their scams to any victim that will bite. If anyone sees a booth set up in a Sam's club store or any store, please do as I did go online to the store's website and complain tell them what Scumbags DirectTV is and being assoiated with DTV is the same as agreeing with their practices.

We've been customers of Direct TV for over 7 years and within the past year or so, we've been getting charged these "extra charges". I've never talked to them so much in my life as I have these past few months! They are not in the business of superior customer service and don't know their ass from the elbow. We were just told this morning that we cannot cancel our service until March 29!! We haven't renewed any contract, and when my husband said no I want to cancel it now, how much is my refund, suddenly a manager got on the phone and told him he could cancel but they wouldn't be able to calculate the "refund" until after March 29th. Wth??? I've never been so disappointed with a company as I have with this one. There isn't one person at that company interested in righting the wrongs they've done. We've over paid, gotten credits, then extra charges we weren't aware of, didnt upgrade our plan, you name it - there was a reason to overcharge, then refund 5 bucks at a clip, then overcharge- well you get the point. We are ending our service today. No more will this shoddy company rob me of my money just to watch television. Trust me when I say, they are not dedicated to their loyal customers and will suck you in with the NFL ticket, which by the way, one local cable company offers, so don't let that fool you!!! And that whole deal of getting $50 to $100 for referring someone? Yeah, about that. You get $10 off your bill per month, before taxes, and if you cancel, you do not get that credit; it goes into the company's "discretionary fund"- at least that's what "John" said at DirecTV. He could have cared less about the frustration. THey're just another corporation taking your money. DirecTV is a sham and will go into bankruptcy sooner than you can blink, taking all of your money with them.

My problem probably isn't peculiar to Directv only, but that is our cable provider at the moment. I absolutely detest automated telephone service. I want a real live person but they must all be in India. They arbitrarily change programs in their packages so that all of a sudden, we can no longer get favorite networks, unless of course, we want to spend more money. Take away my program and then demand a ransom to reintate? Another thing. All of a sudden the on-screen guide is impossible to read because they changed the color to black and it's barely distinguishable. Maybe we'll go drop our cable and rely on local channels anyway. The reality garbage the networks are offering for "entertainment" - Really??- are not worth watching anyway.

I signed up for satellite service through Direct TV's website in August 2011. The TV satelite services I signed up for was advertised for $34.99 per month on your website. The online advertisement read:
CHOICE Package 150 + channels with 24 month agreement. Package includes:
HBO, Showtime, Stars FREE for 3 months FREE 1 HD DVR + 3 HD receiver upgrades HD included Get over 6,000 On Demand shows and movies at no extra charge, FREE standard professional installation FREE handling & delivery NO extra charge for local channels NO startup costs & NO equipment to buy
Here's what Direct TV gave me - charged me:
(and no these charges do not come from paper view or any other movie rentals)
08/22 Dtv*Directv Service 800-347-3288 -$87.19
09/22 Dtv*Directv Service 800-347-3288 -$87.19
10/22 Dtv*Directv Service 800-347-3288 -$87.19
11/22 Dtv*Directv Service 800-347-3288 -$135.00
12/22 Dtv*Directv Service 800-347-3288 -$145.60
On Dec. 22nd, I called and asked customer service why they are not honoring what they advertised.
They gave me credit for charges they had been charging me for the 3 months of HBO, Showtime and Stars towards my account in the amount of $163.66. They said they would have to send my case 'upstairs' because they were unable to issue me the rest of the credits I deserved (Free HD DVR & Free receiver upgrade, Free HD Access for the past 4 months of service; from Sept. through Dec.) and should take approximately 2 ot 3 weeks.
I should have only paid $159.96 for those 4 months of service. Direct TV had taken out $542.17 of my account through auto pay.
I then instructed the Direct TV employee to put me on the cheapest plan (which was $29.99) and to take back the HD receivers since they were billing me for them (and they were not free as advertised). When I got home from work that night, I noticed that the Premium channels had all been shut off.
The next month I did not receive the rest of the credits (nor have I ever) and DIrecTV charged me:
$97.99 for January 2012 and $97.99 for February 2012
DirecTV used up what credit they did give me and then deducted an additional $65.62 from checking account on 2/23/12.
On February 23rd, I called customer service to complain AGAIN. I told them I was over billed AGAIN. I told them I should not be billed $97.99 for January and February because I had called in December a requested the Entertainment Package for $29.99 per month. They were unwilling to give my any credit. The lady said another DirecTV employee went into my account after the first employee had switched me to the cheapest plan and he changed it back from the basic package back to the Premium package. The lady on the phone said he “must have had a reason, so I can not give you any credit”.
I told the lady it’s not my problem if one of your employees makes an error. A charge of $97.99 is a far cry from $29.99 and I want my money back. I also feel that DirecTV is in breach of their contract with me because they have not lived up their end of the agreement – they have not provided me with the service promised, as promised.
I asked again for a refund of the monies DireTV has taken and to cancel my service due to DirecTV breach of contract.
I was told DirecTV will be keeping the $65.62 they just took out of checking account, they will not be refunding any monies, and they will be billing me the early termination fee as well.

A directv installer driving one of their marked vans was driving erratically not liking me going the posted speed limit in a residential area. He then made the decision to speed around me in a double line lane, 20 mi/hr school zone, with children present; proceeded to then weave in and out of traffic. When i called the 877 number on the back of the van it was for inquiries on service. I called the customer service number and the rep I spoke with (Lindsey) was horrified and concerned. I was then transferred to the install customer service rep (Jamie) who seemed to care less seeing that they are contracted out; I don't even think she wrote down the information I gave her on the vehicle. I will certainly NEVER EVER sign up for directv! dissapointing!

Direct TV customer for eight years. Had a huge gathering planned on April 1st for the Nascar race. Was informed by Direct TV that they could not come to terms with Fox so I would not be able to view the race. Appears as if that's just the way of the USA these days. I canceled service and now they are trying to charge me mega bucks. Seems as if this has become the trend. Suits are always more important than the customers that are paying for their service. Let's start standing up and saying "NO"! I, for one, am tired of being a doormat. I DO NOT recommend Direct TV to anyone.

Here is another horror story to add to the famous Direct TV board. I have Direct TV but no contract. I made sure of that. I read the paperwork they gave me and questioned everything. Anyway, Overtime, I had been having problems with my box. The first time they came out and replaced the box. The I got something in the mail that said I would be charged an additional fee because my service agreement to fix any problems had expired. I didn't think much of it and though it was an advertisement UNTIL I called once again with problems that the box was doing something annoying. I was told that since my service agreement expired, I would be charged $99.00 for a technician to come out to my house to diagnose the problem, not necessarily fix it, just diagnose it. I checked my paperwork and yes, it was in there and I could get my contract back if I agreed to a new contract. Well this is all bull and I don't need the additional fees. I never had this problem with Dish TV and will go back to them The only reason why I changed, was Dish TV fees increased over time and it got out of hand. I do not prescribe to any pay channels and the feels for Dish TV got too expensive. Now they are looking good to me. Also I installed an additional antenna on my rood for local channels at no cost to me. Direct TV is still trying to figure out what these antenna are doing on the roof and they want to know who installed them. I told them, that they have no request from me about installing any additional antennas so this is not their problem.(I actually had an electrician friend install the antenna's) I may consider dropping both companies all together because I cannot afford any additional charges and may just stick with the antenna I have and live with that.
