Does anybody wanna help me get rid of my hypochondriac type nervousness. I had my appendectomy 2 weeks ago tonight. I feel pretty good having bowel movements that are normal, but I still have some pain in my abdomen which is above my appendectomy belly button scar. Could I have torn something from (sorry for this) pushing out bowel movements. I'm going to Miami in 1 week and I don't want to have problems and not know about it and be away from my normal doctor/surgeon. Thanks in advance....

I'm 28 weeks pregnant though. I was in the hospital just over night. My husband and I had sex 3 days later. Couldn't move around great but it worked ok. I'm not sure what the rules were on having sex depends on her, I guess. Good luck

Had mine taken out monday 4.15pm was out of hospital in much pain 10,30am tuesday, plenty of pain moving around and sore back from hunching, getting in and out of bed hurts but must be done, 2 weeks off work 6 on light duties, these things have to be done to heal properly i wouldn't recommend any physical excersise, i think if it feels fine, stop the pain killers and see how it feels? not take more so you can do what you would normally plenty of sleep and lots of water

Teenage Daughter had hers out friday 27/01/12, hadnt ruptured thank goodness, but was starting to weep, she is walking upright after 4 days, climbing up and downstairs helps her move the wind and she likes to stand hugging and slightly swaying, as this appears to move the wind too. Still has a slight pain in her shoulder and neck, but only asked for one dose of paracetmol and broufen yesterday. One, first thing and one before bed. Having 2nd shower today and removing the dressing. Stomach is soft, has had two BM but stool was hard. She is now asking how long before she can go dancing, she is planning on two weeks? She likes to set herself goals, any ideas? At the time i didnt even think of asking when she could commence exercise. Really wasnt and isnt that important to me, but is to her. She is not due a follow up, which confuses me? and because i didnt ask the question i really dont want her to start to soon. Should i leave it to her judgement or put my foot down and say amonth??? she does appear to have quite a high threshold of pain.

Mine was removed almost 4 weeks ago now, and am just feeling like myself. Pain stopped after a couple of weeks, but I still had headaches, fatigue and muscle pains. Doctor thinks it's unrelated - virus infection they said. Am now down to 2 tylenol a day and I'm flying to the West Coast for business this weekend. 2 weeks off work is about right, though I only took 6 days off, and worked at home for 4 of those.
I think I could start to exercise again this weekend if I wasn't travelling,

Hi Paranoid Mum. My 12 year old daughter had her appendix out on 3rd Novmber 2011. She was off school for 2 weeks but the hospital told us that there should be no physical exercise, PE at school, or sports for a further month. She stuck to this at my insistence, even though she was fed up about it and did no sports til after Christmas. We have had no problems at all since then. They need time to heal inside as well as what we can see and I am sure that stickingg to what we were told has helped. Some people seem to have an awful time afterwards, but we have been ok. Just a word of warning - my daughter was very low mentally 7 days after the op. I wasn't expecting it but apparently its quite common. Good luck.

Brenda wrote: Wow, you guys must either be real young and heal fast, or have a very high tolerance for pain. I had my appendix removed 12 days ago and I am still in a lot of pain. Lots of bloating. Nights are horrible, can't sleep because of pain on right side. Has anyone else had these symptoms? How long did they last? I thought having my appendix removed was going to make me feel better, not worse. My appendix just got taken out on wednesday night. Nights are good for me thus far. Its like nights are the only time im not in super bad pain cauz im sleeping.

Jenni, sounds like your wounds got infected because they kept weeping. Another reason that may have happened is because the wounds aren't closing enough - the weeping is from cauterized fat from the original operation. Your situation is not usual.
