This doctor needs to be put away. The poor girl knew she had a problem, went to get help and she got help alright. Help right into the grave. I feel so bad for this woman's family. This doctor is walking free because he has family in the right places. UNBELIEVEABLE. Can't anyone report him and have something done about this? Can the DEA be alerted to this? He basically murdered this girl by giving her 310 oxy pills in 11 days, knowing she was abusing them. She went to him because she needed help. Unfreaking believable. This doctor needs to be put away and for a very long itme and be made to give all his money to fund Narcotic education and get his family off the boards they are on for pete's sake while we are at it. They are encouraging him to write more prescriptions by not letting him get into trouble, they are probably getting a cut of the cash he is rolling in for their silence. Sad and pitiful.

the doctors are always doing what they think is best for the patient unless they r totally dodgy. if she took that many in 1 week well why should the dr be responsible??
regardless if he gave her 1 lousy pill or 200 pills, she could have od'd either way... its ppl lying about their pain condition and more than likely dont have a tolerance then od, simple as that but yet no one seems to be learning the lesson to be had!

a dr can prescribe anything, but the patient can do what they want with their meds...

its kind of like filling up ur car with fuel, it then blows an engine and its like blaming the petrol station for it....same scene i beleive

Are you insane? I am all for doctors writing for pain. I am a patient myself but this article clearly states she went to this doctor for addiction help and he kept supplying her pills. In 2005 another girls parents are saying he caused her death as well. It is not the scenario you played out.

This is ridiculous. A pain management physician and any other physician prescribing opioids' need to create a "safe" environment for their patients.

This means implementing diversion polices, educating on dangers and benefits and screening records, along w/ working w/ previous physicians' to help a patient in pain, etc., etc., etc.

A patient w/ an addiction is completely different and needs special treatment from an expert in the field of addiction. Not handfuls of pain medications.

This physician was totally irresponsible!

what i hate is usually when you really need pain meds for terrible pain, they talk to you about NOT BECOMING ADDICTED, but if you don't need them boy they have their hand out with a big script.

Right on PF. It was totally and completely irresponsible. Did you see the video next to the article. I am appalled at this doctor and look at his body language, like he is annoyed he has to answer any questions regarding someones death. GRRRRR. This makes our life more difficult that's for sure. This kind of practicing is going to not help the pain management situation at all. Not at all. And this is why the pain community gets blamed for all the deaths.

at first it seemed he treated her with methadone for the addiction... then as time went by she may have conned him into eventually supplying the oxycontin, there is always more than meets the eye and drug seekers can be very manipulative but 240 oxys in 11 days, no one is in that sort of pain!

Nope that should have been a clue to shut her off when the methadone was not good enough. The reason it wasnt was because it did not get her high and that is what she wanted. She even said how much it made her feel better. She wanted that warm and fuzzy feeling and we all know an addict or anyone maintained on methadone does not get high.

Well its off to school with the kiddles.

My thoughts exactly. No way the dr. didn't know what was going on, and what part he was playing while it was happening.

only she and her dr will know what really went on... sexual favours in exchange seem to be popular with some drs...not saying with this girl but it does happen and alot of drs are easily manipulated when they have something they want flashed infront of their eyes

The first patient that died he didnt even do a physical exam on her he stated in the deposition. And for that red flags should have gone up right away.

Sounds like the govt creates all these addictive medications and ciggeretts and cell phonesto keep that tax money coming so we can bail out all these jackass companies that are ruining people's lives. When will college blow up? When it's 80K a year or is it there yet?

His family members are on pharmacy boards or something to that effect so they have kept him in business when the pharmacies have tried to get him out.

This girl was my niece , yes she went for help . Only after her death was her journal found .She lived with her boyfriend so we only saw her a couple times a week & she was clean , her mind became so polluted with drugs. Why on earth would he give someone the same drug she said she was addicted to? Because he never wrote anything down he forgot!!

let me tell you alittle story . I suffer with opaite addiction ( subutex/subxone) and methadone a few months ago.I'm also prescribed zopidem/valium/and 2x antidepressents so in totla 5 MEDICATIONS off 3 different doctors they all know etc .

yet i don't use all my zopidems , zopidems are higher than zopiclone same drug etc , i've ovwer 12boxes of 28tablets of zopidems i've 500mls of methadone and god knows how many subutex 8mg pills plus dff118s dydrocodiene tablets.

None of these doc over prescribed me any of the tablets i have saved up it was my falut i just didn't need my tablets on somedays so they're in a box kept safe .

But still surely being on 5medications handing me out loads of pills plus i've a suicide attempts on my name surely docs would be more careful but they aint.

If i wanted to die tonight i could .

i don't know whos fault that would be if it happened but i dod know if it wasn't for the prescriptions from docs given , we wouldn't have the tablets in first place.
