I'm 35 yrs old and have suffered from palps most of my life but nothing to scare me until recently.During a work period at the end of the day my heart decided to take a dance for 3 hours by that time I was in hospital getting blood tests and an ECG but everything was normal they said. I wore a holter 3 days later and am still waiting for the results. I dont smoke, drink much and love to exersice, weights, bushwalk and dance alone when no one can see me LOL. The point is I have researched alot in the last week and from what it looks like there are many causes to this problem and because we are all different sometimes finding the way to fix it yourself may or may not help others. Food additives, lack of water, caffine, alchohol, not enough sleep , stress, anxiety, heart disease, the list goes on. Help yourself by doing the research and try different things like diet, exercises etc and also try to just be strong for yourself and tell yourself you will find the answer and that you are not alone with this. So many people suffer from palps it boggles me. Take care everyone.

I have had heart palps since I have been 14 yrs old. I am now in my early 50s. I have always been a very active person. A couple of years ago after my heart palps lasted over 4 hours I ended up in the emerg. After stopping the palps. they did all types of test, could not find anything. I was referred to a cardiologist. Took more tests, including an angiogram. Was told I had a very strong and healthy heart. The palps were caused by an extra electrical circuit in my heart, which I had since birth. Apparently 2% of the population has this problem. Not serious, can be controlled by drugs, minor surgery to have the extra electrical circuits taken out or figure out what triggers the palps. I found that tannin triggers my palps. Tannin is found in many things such as red wine, tea leaves, barley(beer)..... My palps also are triggered when I get my mens., thus one of the reasons why they started around 14 yrs of age when I started mens. Hopefully I will be free of that "trigger" soon. Since I have been avoiding anything with tannin I rarely get palps. When I do, they do not last long. Good luck to everyone!

Okay, I am 45 yrs. old. I have been having these "skipped beats" for about a month now. Just out of the blue they've appeared. Don't know why! I did cut out 90% of my caffeine intake, but they are still there. I don't know if hormones can cause this?? I am wearing a holter monitor right now as I type. I've always been an anxious-type person and have been on Xanax in the past for it. Then I went several years without taking anything. Then, here we go again! I get them whether I am watching TV or sweeping the floor! It comes regardless as to what I am physically doing. Maybe this is perimenopause?? I do not like it!!! Thanks for listening!

Please explain why did you not take the prescribed ZOLOFT.

TAKE ANXIETY MEDICATION. HEART PALPITATIONS ARE USUALYY CAUSED BY THIS. I HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR CASES AND WAS PRESCRIBED ZOLOFT. I NEVER TOOK THE MEDICATIONS FOR THE REASON I READ ANXIETY FOR DUMMIES FOUND IN YOUR LOCAL BOOK STORE. THIS HELPED WELL ENOUGH THAT I DONT HAVE TO TAKE MEDICATION. I ALSO TOOK HERBAL MEDICATIONS PRESCRIBED BY AN ACCUPUNCTURE.
BEST WAY TO HELP YOURSELF IS TO UNDERSTAND ANXIETY AND NOT TO FEAR IT.

I've had palps on and off for the past three years. I went to the cardiologist and he said all was fine; my heart was strong; and the palps were benign. Just hearing that and the palps went away. They returned about a year later for three days and as I sit here and type, they are back. Magnesium worked great for me so I've started taking it again. I'm also going to take the AloeSoft gels. I think anyone having palps need to be seen by a cardiologist to get some peace of mind. Once he tells you the palps are benign, then you can try and figure what triggers them and stay away from that. For me, I had some chocolate cake. I will probably palp a good week for that! Wasn't worth it!

Hi all! I can relate. I've had palps for around 20 years. Worn a holter twice in that time. Supposedly all is well. Mine are skipped beats, i guess. Alcohol and chocolate do it to me. There is something called a valsalva maneuver. Read about it here and ask your doc. I will try the aloe vera gels!! Thanks and know you are not alone! I used to be scared and now I'm annoyed by them.

Hi everyone, yes I feel the same out of rhythm beats all the time. I had a bad one this week and is scared me really bad. I have had all the tests done and nothing, although I do have a heart murmur and have had high blood pressure for about 7 years, yes I take meds for it but you feel like you are having a heart attack. I plan to see the doctor next week and ask him about it again. I go on with my normal routine and just go with the flo. Keep your head up and live!

Don't assume palpitations are from anxiety. I was misdiagnosed with panic disorder for 6 years, when in fact I have psvt, an extra electrical pathway in my heart. There are many different arrythmias, many harmless but still frightening. The only way to diagnose is catching it on a holter monitor or EKG. If your at home, try putting your face in a bowl full of super cold water (I use ice in it). It slows your heart down. It's the only thing that ever worked for me besides just trying to stop, relax, and slow my breathing down and get full, deep breaths. It doesn't always work and sometimes I end up in the ER, but always worth a try. See a doctor, try to count your pulse if you can so you have some information for them. I also had alot of skipped beats when I started taking motrin regularly. Everyone has their own triggers, if you can find yours, you may reduce your episodes. Mine are also triggered right before my period, so I try to take it easy around that time. Aloe vera sounds worth investigating. Just make sure you get the right kind.

hay i am 14 yrs old and i have really bad anxiety attacks, and they cause my heart to feel like it stops. I went to the E.R. twice because of it but both times the doctors said that i was fine. It's like my heart will make this hard beat then nothing for about 3 seconds and another hard beat and after that my heart is racing
recently like 4 days ago i was laying in bed about to fall asleep when my heart felt like it stopped and i got really light headed, my vision went out, and i couldn't hear anything...i was able to stand up and say "oh my god" and all of the sudden i hit the floor. when i came to i was stiss scared
now my cheast will start to hurt and my whole left arm will go numb...
it is just soooo scary i am afraid that i am gonna die!!!!!!

some one please help me

I'm 29 years old and i've just returned from a day in the emergency room, due to a racing heart and palpitations (i actually felt like my heart stopped and started beating again) or as some people say missed a beat. I do suffer from anxiety and i'm controlling it naturally i don't take madication. All my tests have come back normal i've even had brain mri's done besides all the heart tests and everything is fine. Does anybody know anything besides medication to help with the palpitations?

I couldn't beleieve it either as I have struggled with tachycardia since I was 12 (now 29). I had a catheter ablation performed which cured my tachycardia but I ocassionally had some palpatations (felt like skips) in my heartbeat which caused occasional panic attacks.
A friend of mine left a bottle of Omega 3 Fish oil and I heard that there are benifits from taking them so I figured I'd give them a try. I noticed that day that my palpitations stopped and didn't put two and two together for a few weeks. I now purchase them on a regular basis and haven't had an issue since! Praise God :)

I started getting heart palps after my grandma died. The first day I got them it was so bad I called 911, because I've never felt them before...after going to the emergency room 5 times and completing multiple tests the dr's tell me im fine and healthy. Anxiety attacks are my worst fear because of the way I feel when I get them. My regular dr prescribed zoloft....I can honestly say it took away the palps and I feel 100% again.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Leo

A loved one is being rather tetchy today. It won't take much to get on their nerves, even if you think they're being grossly unfair about it. Try not to make the situation worse by being sarcastic or provocative. Instead, encourage them to tell you what's wrong but without raising their voice. Once you know what you've done to irritate them you can start to put it right.
