My husband has had angioedema for almost 4 weeks. We have not been to the specialist yet but i think it is an allergy to chemicals. He had an instant tongue swelling when he was near spray paint. He smokes, and i believe it is a chemical in the cigarettes as his tongue is up all day - worse as the day goes on. He controls it by taking 4 phenergan a day. Could smoking be a cause? He has cut out most food ( does not have hives, vomiting or diarrhoea) items as they are hard to swallow or aggrevates reflux.

Phenagren is for nasuea not hisamine reactions. He need Zrytec,Benadyrl, Hydroxyzine, Singulair, and zantac. He also needs an epipen for emergencies. I also have a hiatal hernia, from a pregnancy, and sometimes my stomach swells from the angioedema andn causes sever pain. When this happens i add some Nexium to my list of pills. And if heis having sever reactions where he has difficulty breathing he must go directly to the ER.

I have had angioedema for about seven years. Nothing I tried in the past has ever seemed to eleviate the swelling. The swelling occurs on my tongue, hands and feet, arms and legs, genitals, lips and eyes. It sometimes causes my small intestines to swell as well. Fortunately, that done not happen every time. When in involves the S.I., it is almost unbearable. I have seen doctors who have no answers. I tries acupunture which seemed to help a little bit. Lately I tried an acupunctuist who pescribed a homiepathic remidy specifially made for angioedema and it was amazing. My upper lip started to swell and usually when that happens the swelling migrate to my lower lip and to other parts of my body. As soon as the swelling started in my top lip, I took the remedy and it went down in about a hlf hour. then my bottom lip started several hours later. I took the remedy again and the swelling went down. Then my feet started swelling and I took the remedy again and the swelling went down and that is the last time I had any swelling. I has now been five days and the angioedema symtoms are gone. I am truely amazed! If you would like the name of this acupunturist, you can email me at doneover4u@hotmail.com Good luck to everyone and thanks for your support! Bobby

i,m glad that you found some relief. I have had angioedema for over 10 years. i have managed to keep it under control by taking one 4mg tablet of an antihistemine called cyproheptadine hcl. you can ask for it from the pharmasist. It takes about a week to get into your system. any smelling bouts are mild and fizzle out instead of becoming full blown. sometimes i have to take more if i feel im losing the battle, but still is a very effective drug. Worth trying for anyone who hasnt been able to gain control with angioedema. May want to consult a doctor first. I hope this info can help. I know what you are going through.
