Why do teenagers drink?

Developments of alcoholism amongst youths.

I think that most of all teens that drink start by peer presure. Now there might be some cases where the parents of the kids abuse them so the kids drink because it makes them feel as if there problems are all gone. I am a 14 year old male, and i have only tried drinking one time. Now I am totaly against teen drinking. And am doing a persuasive speech against it.

Not only is it peer pressure but the beer commercials, they make it look cool to drink, but really its harmful and deadly.

Teen's drink to try to be more mature. They see their parents drinking, or their role models, and they assume that to be more like them, they should imitate their behaviour. This is a foolish plan. To be intoxicated is to be immature. What the teens are doing is acting immature to be mature. The only wise decision one can make in a situation where all their peers are making asses of themselves is to obstain... That is the only way to actually be mature. Granted, I have never tried alcohol. I'm not about to. Perhaps, someday (when it is legal and my brain has stopped developing) I will. But until 2009, it is ILLEGAL, and until 2011, it is HARMFUL to my brain. What fun drinking is.

There is no uniform reason for teens drinking. Situations are different for most. I tried drinking for the first time because I was desperate to find a way out of reality. Alcohol clouds the brain, making it easy to distort what is truly happening in life, if only for an evening. Becoming dependent on the substance becomes extremely easy. I am not in favor of teen drinking, as it has brought me to depend on it almost daily, but I do know that it is extremely difficult to give up when one has learned to view it as an out. I would kick the habit in a heart beat if I could.

Blame the classic perception "rite of passage".

teenage drinking iz retarded... people should just be themselves and try not to be like their models, because if they copy their models with everything they do and they try to copy them, then they're just not being theirself. it would be like living for someone else.

Yes I tried drinking alcohol It was not bad nor good But I decided not to become like my grandparents They drink everyday Its shameful
I think drinking is just what people do to get away from things But that is no way to solve a problem

I think that teen dating isnt just "peer pressure" or "beer comercials" I drink to relieve stress and to just get away from it all. I like who I am when I drink... fun loveing... care-less and it just feels like I'm happy when I drink... but when I dont.... well when I'm sober... I'm always not happy... so Get over teen age drinking.... maybe you should ask them why they do it.

I think that teens drink to be cool, or look cool around people. For me even drinking by myself makes me feel mature, and on top of the world. My parents dont beat me, and i dont have a bad life at home or school, i just like to drink. I like the taste, and the feeling. I have never been drunk, and i am good at containing myself. Maybe thats the Italian influence in me.

I'm 19 and an occasional drinker. I do it just for the fun of it. Not because I want to look cool, mature, or release some stress. I don't get drunk either because it makes me sleepy. To me drinking is more like a social thing and I have never been pressure to do it. It's just fun to do it here and there!

I really like cotton candy because it is soft and it melts in my mouth! And it is sweet and tasty! I wish I had cotton candy everyday for breakfast lunch and dinner! I LOVE COTTON CANDY!

i think teens drink only because thier parents and pears tell them not to but all of us should know that the first thing you do when your parents tell you not to do something we all go out and do it anyway but then we learn not to do it because of the consequences but then there are the retards who never learn and end up getting hurt and learning the hard way.

teenagers drink cause they can.im one of these teenagers that goes to parties and get wasted.teenages drink alcohol cause it gives them a great high/buzz and so does smoking drugs.im not aganist it im fully with it.so go out and get drunk.go and try it.you will love it!!

drinkin is awesome! i dont get wasted or nuttin but i love it! it calms me down and takes my stress away.

i agree with all of you i think that u should have to be ATLEAST 18 to drink.
