I was a nurse inside a private facility and exposed to second hand smoke. I left and found other employment due to this fact. This new law applies to private facilities and I applaud NY State for taking these actions!
If you are afraid that second hand smoke will hurt you, what do you do when the heat in the summer time along with sunshine and vehicle exhaust combined with surface ozone mixes together, which creates a very serious health issue for everyone especially for the very young and people with respiratory problems and the elderly? Do you get the gas mask out and put it on your face to purify the air you breathe? I bet you don’t. We don’t hear you bitching about that but second hand smoke you make a big deal out of it. There are tons more things that we are exposed to every day that are more dangerous than second hand smoke…

I read an interesting article today about a woman who was getting high levels of radon and radiation from her granite countertops. It seems like that is a problem being discovered more often these days. Granite has become very popular. One just never knows where the danger will come from. California recalled the cooler type backpacks they were giving out to promote healthy eating because they contained lead. They came from China. It’s always the little things you don’t see that get you.

I've been addicted to narcotics for 5 years now. I've kicked around the idea of rehab for a while now, but I enjoy smoking. I smoke less than a pack a day, but it really is all about the ritual for me. I can say with 100% certainty, that I will NOT be going to rehab in NYS now.

Only people who have had narcotic withdrawals will know that when you kick, your body freaks out, and also you lose every single scrap of energy you had...as well as your will to live. By taking away something that helps and is comforting, all they are doing is making the road to recovery that much harder. way to go again, NYS. Can we get this blind bastard out of here already?

I hope that you will find a way to beat your narcotic addiction somewhere out of NY. Adding an additional difficulty to your problem is clearly causing those who are ill to avoid the treatment that might save their lives. You will be in my prayers.
