DUH, treating ADHD with STIMULANTS is stupid for one! Why would you give a child pharmecutical speed? NOT HEALTHY, I would never do it personally.

I have a 71/2 year old son, who is ADHD. He has been on concerti 27mg, once a day for the past year. When we saw my son's neurologist this past Feb., 08, he recommended that I take my son to his pediatrician to monitor his blood pressure, because he found it to be significantly high (120 over 98). For one week, the school nurse took my son's pressure, and it was around the same 120 over 98 or 120 over 96. Although, my son’s pediatrician took my son's blood pressure, and confirmed that it was rather on the high side. The pediatrician did not recommend my son to cardiologist. Do you recommend I STOP giving my son the medication (concerta 27mg) on my own, due to the risks associated with this medication, and seek the advice of a pediatric cardio specialist?

Bernice, yes, maybe an EKG if you feel your child needs these stimulants. I would be questioning deeply the need for the meds vs your sons health. I bet there are alternatives to the treatment that would be effective. I have never been for drugging our kids, how many are just labeled with ADHD? I think that the diagnosis is used more than the condition actually exists.

Seek out an allergist too, you son's behavior might be related to artificial colors & flavors or many other things in our food chain. Just a thought, I wish you all the luck and hope your son isn't at risk.

True, do test no matter what. People die daily while doing sports and people say it is drugs, but then truth shows that it was heart problems. Even kids die from heart problems because no one checks as part of regular exams.
