'Viva Viagra' ads don't reflect life

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Erectile dysfunction has gone from something men were ashamed to admit to their doctors to something they sit around bars and sing about.

Up here in Canada, neither the pill nor Viagra are covered (both may be partially subsidized, but then again who knows the real cost of a drug... that is another debate).
The irony that you and Cheryl the columnist are missing is that Viagra is NOT an aphrodisiac for men. Instead though, female partners regularly report increased sensation (joy) from their partner's use of Viagra.
So Tamara, your perceived injustice/female victimization by health insurance companies is unfounded (i.e., that in the states, Viagra is sometimes covered but birth control is not).
No Jim, I am perfectly aware that viagra is NOT an aphrodisiac. I haven't even thought of it as an aphrodisiac. Prostrate cancer among other medical conditions can and do cause serious problems for men. As usual, you have this really odd perception about me and frankly I'm not really sure where it comes from. Do we know each other??? Have we met? I simply said, I would love to hear the debates (if any) that the insurance companies have (and not just about this particular coverage). No attacks, nothing more.

J-Go,
Re-read my post, I said that it creates enjoyment for women only... not for men. You should be happy some health insurance companies cover it.
As far as the pill... it's the woman's physiology, that makes the difference.:) And her attitude.
As for your comment that "sexism" hides behind the word "equality," while prepetuating a condition that is not at all equitable. I wholeheartedly agree!!!
That's why a greater percentage of women who choose to have a career (not a job) in corporate rise and rise faster up the ranks than the percentage of men who choose to have a career (and not a job). If you compare salaries by adjusting for years of experience, then women's salaries exceed men's.
We have a big sign up in our HR department that says women earn .70 to the 1.00 that men do. I can see how the HR department would like to promote that.

Our culture's obsession with satisfying sex has reached epidemic levels, and our relationships are suffering for it. I have gotten to the point where I no longer associate with some women friends who talk about little else but the condition of their sex lives. Viagra, Cialis and the like only perpetuate the myth that it's important to have HOT sex, no matter what the impact is on health, emotional or physical. I understand men with physical disabilities or illnesses who consider these "miracle" drugs, my question to them would be, why introduce another drug to your body, when you're already probably taking drugs to deal with your medical condition? Why not have the patience and openness to explore alternatives to "sex like you're 20" with your partner? These drugs only mask one symptom of a problem that has physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual roots.
I have to agree! We are such a sex obcessed society. As you get older you need to be able to accept your limitations.

They reflect the greed of big pharma out there advitersing a Rx drug to get you to buy it. Direct to Consumer advertising of Rx drugs should be banned by Congress. They spend more moneyu on advertisements that they spend on R&D trying to develop a drug that may really work for something. I would estimate that out of the millions upon millions of Viagra pills sold, less than half actually went to men with ED. They need to use the generic name for Viagra in these ads "mycoxafloppin". Perhaps they could even reap more business. We can fine a pill to give you a boner, but we can't find a cure for Aids or Cancer. Hey Big Pharma!, just put some more money in your Congressman's pocket and you should be OK.
Maybe it's easier to find a cure for a limp dick than cancer op aids? I wouldn't blame "big pharma" for that.

Washington DC (AP): The FDA announced today that after careful review and consideration of potential names for a generic version of Viagra, a team of government experts has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.
As a result of a generic being offered, Pfizer Corp separately announced today that Viagra will soon be available in liquid form. Through a licensing agreement with Pepsico, it will be marketed and distributed as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer. Pfizer and Pepsico announced in a joint statement that iIt will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one.
Obviously, the public can no longer call this a soft drink. It also gives new meaning to the names of "cocktails", "highballs" and just a good old-fashioned "stiff drink." Pepsico said it will market the new concoction under the brand name "MOUNT & DO".
Thanks for a good laugh!

I'm not sure what it's like in Canada, so I can't comment, but one of the Catholic Hospitals (the name escapes me) took over West Suburban Hospital in a suburb of Chicago, the doctors, nurses, etc. were no longer allowed to even prescribe birth control. So maybe you should really only discuss what you actually know instead of being a big know-it-all pompous jerk and acting like you know anything or everything.

Birth control pill uses - Control and regulate overly heavy, painful, or irregular periods, and, in at least one person I know of, she was given a script for the pill to modulate her hormone levels as part of her treatment for her bi-polar (which was a use I hadn't heard of before, but then, I'm not in the medical field, and it seems to work for her..).

Oh - and to prevent pregnancies (some of which should be prevented not just for personal choices, but for medical reasons), thereby allowing women to enjoy a complete and satisfying sex life with their partner, providing intimacy and pleasure to them both.

Viagra uses - helping men overcome E.D. that is a result of various medical problems, such as prostate cancer, diabetes, psychologically based sexual disfunction (ie - so afraid you can't get it up, so you end up not getting it up), ED as a result from other medications for other health issues, etc.

OH - and it allows men to be able to enjoy a complete and satisfying sex life with their partner, providing intimacy and pleasure for both.

Yes, we're comaring apples to oranges, but that's because the "trees" are different - but "fruit is fruit" - and if one is covered, they both should be.

Oh, and I just have to say, I'm from the US, and I did live in Canada for awhile - we lived in Gander, Newfoundland, and it never ceases to amaze me how many people on BOTH sides of the border seem to think that just because we're similar in many ways, we must be the same in ALL ways -
Just because something is true in Canada doesn't mean it's automatically true in the States, and vice versa. So, just because one might not have a problem in a particular area doesn't mean that people who believe the other does have that problem are wrong. That's like saying your neighbor doesn't need a plumber, because your toilet works fine :-)

I remember a while ago SNL had a spoof ad for a Viagra-like drug. At the end there was the usual rapid-fire litany of warnings, one of which was:

"If you experience an erection lasting longer than 4 hours, call up your friends and brag about it."

I have used http://goodgeneric.com for about 3 years and find their products to be reliable and speedily delivered. The Support team are very promt and helpful in solving any issues that arise, caused by my errors not the company's. I was a little sceptical initially about buying generic products rather than brand names. However, the Mens' Health products I have bought have been equally as efficatious as the brand names at a fraction of the cost.

I've been using expresspharmax.com for awhile now, and so far they have not let me down. The constant refill reminders via e-mail are a bit irritating, but other than that, the product is as promised and delivery is very fast. I like the fact that they're easy to reach by phone, too, in case I need to check an order or ask a billing question.

Naturally, I am skeptical of everything online. http://edx-airstorepills.com is legitimate. I placed my first order for the smallest amount possible. It arrived sooner than expected. I didn't pay the extra money for speedy air mail. I placed another order that was much larger and it came right on time. I will definitely use this company again for even larger orders now that I trust them. They also give you discounts every time you place an order which is cool. One thing to keep in mind is if you place a larger order, they will send half in one shipment, and then the other half after that to avoid customs scrutinizing your package. I am very happy, I no longer need to pay tons of money to see a doctor and therapist (and have them tell me a bunch of stuff I already know) in order to get my medication.

I ordered Cialis soft tabs from http://goo.gl/I9xquY once in the past and they arrived in about 2 weeks, no customs payable and they seem as good as the non generic product. An acknowledgment of my order would have been nice but when i phoned them they were polite and reassuring. I used the trackable service.
