I would gladly comment on this news article. It's quite ironic that when hearing that the bird flu had reached Turkey, I wagered $100 that the deadly avian flu would arrive on the shores of the northern Cypriot shores in a matter of weeks. Have you ever been there? Northern Cyprus is one of the poorest cities I have ever seen. I'm suprised that the speculations for terrorist training aren't true. I greatly resent the Turkish government, and especially the Northern Turkish government for their uneducated and unprofessional governmental policies. Northern Cyprus is a waste land, frozen in time. Isn't there enough evidence now, so to not to let Turkey into the EU. How pathetic is that the USA is only advocating Turkey's admission into the EU for personal military power in the Middle East. Thomas Jefferson said it best, "I have never been able to conceive how any rational being could propose happiness to himself from the excercise of power over others (1743-1826)."

One should not be surprised of how back in time and poor the north part of Cyprus is. For political reasons of Turkey’s own benefits the north part of Cyprus is kept isolated. EU has made funds available to them provided the funds are channelled through the one and only recognised Republic of Cyprus. But Turkey’s policy is not to help its Cypriot Turkish brothers, but to have the north of Cyprus recognised as a separate state; therefore the EU funds have never been taken.
Then Turkey talks about lifting the embargo to the north of Cyprus because (they say) the people there suffer. Well Turkey if you are so sensitive about your brothers in north Cyprus suffering let them take the available EU funds! The way to come out of the isolation is there.
But let’s not kid ourselves; Turkey has been surviving for many years on USA hand-outs in one way or another. Have you been to Turkey? And I do not mean Istanbul or the tourist areas. I mean the real Turkey, were people sleep with animals to keep worm during the winder. Well the primitiveness and poorness there makes the north of Cyprus look like a paradise. No wonder there are 30,000 or is it 40,000 settlers in north Cyprus. It makes you wonder how the US hand outs have been spent!
In my view it does not matter how much money in aid, loans, military funds, development funds, antiterrorist funds, etc, call them whatever, are given to Turkey and indeed the Turks of the north Cyprus. All they can do is ask for more!

Silence from the Greek Cypriots on the atrocities from 1963 to 1974. No apologies for the murder of British troops on the island in the 1950`s. No questions about Greek subversion and infiltration from the 1950`s to date. It appears that Cyprus like Northern Ireland has a pretty much one sided history. Oh and what about all the Greek Cypriots who disappeared following the Sampson coup ? All very interesting........

It seems to have occured in history on several occasions. Living in a sparcely populated area might slow the spread unlike the crowded places where it would pass quickly from lifeform to lifeform.
It would be a devastating event if it happened.
Complacency is not the answer...

I ask myself this question after hearing him on the news tonight saying that Israel has the right to self-defense in its attack on Lebanon. How can the president of the United States declare that Israel has a right to self-defense when Israel is killing many innocent lives with reckless long range bombings? How can the “leader” of the “free world” say it is self-defense when the attacks of Israel include Civilian Airports frequented by innocent people?

After asking this question I had to look at how this “leader of the free world” reacted recently in “protecting” its own civilians. The “enemy” was then decided to be the people of Iraq. Not just Saddam Hussein, because if he thought he was the “enemy”, then the “most powerful leader of the world” surely could have organized a way for him to leave. So he decided self-defense meant killing thousands of innocent civilians by bombing cities with long range missiles.

We are now told that this country has been rid of the evil and “freedom” has returned to the people, they have their own “government” now, can elect their own in “free and fair” elections…nothing is said about the death and destruction this has lead too. Infrastructure and buildings are still left devastated. There seems to be no end in violent escalations between factions, mostly wanting the foreign invader out of their land! Depleted uranium used in the American weapons will be a legacy left behind that will cause countless diseases and more hardship for the “free people of Iraq” for generations to come.

All this happened because the world was told a lie. He and his administration told us that Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction. Nothing was found! Thousands of innocent people died because of a lie! I get really scared when people like George Bush say Israel has a right to kill innocent people, because this is what he is saying when he condones Israel’s attack on innocent people. When “leaders of the free world” think many innocent people may be killed to get one “evil” one, we as a human race will never be safe.

What next, use an atomic bomb and take out millions in a city to get the five “terrorists”? At least a couple of countries are speaking out against the Israeli attacks on innocent people. I just wished they were there when the innocent people lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. The longer crimes like these continue while the world remains silent, the more the chance will be that no one will sleep peacefully in the future. Maybe this is part of plan.

Spot the difference...

1/N.ireland/S.ireland

both christians,
both speak the same language
both write using the same letters.
"they have a right to self determination
and must be kept seperate"

2/N.cyprus/S.cyprus

one side christian, the other muslim
one side speaks greek, the other turkish
one side writes using greek alphabet, the other uses latin alphabet
"they must unite and be one country"

something doesen't seem right somehow, does it?
