Estimates, cost, contract, licensed man power, and proper permits for the work aside; is it rational; the work requested could be completed start to finish in the 60 day time frame set?

The Judge ruled in favor of the city. The "imminent danger" the city claims still allows for the nuns and 14 staff members to live on site. Guess their lives are as important!!!!!

The judge denied ARH's for a preliminary injunction and that means residents are going to have to be moved. The judge also said that
the city should have a clear permitting process that should be in writing for everyone to see. He also faulted Terry Vrshek for giving ARH only a week to install a sprinkler system.

We will have to see if AHR will appeal this decision.

The bigger issue to me is how did this group get moved into MOS without the knowledge of the city council? All permits have to be approved by the community development committee and this committee says they had never heard of this group before they were moved in at MOS. In fact, they had rejected the permit requests of other groups because of a lack a sprinkler system at MOS. So how AHR get in the door? Don Peloquin has the answer to this mess and the taxpayers will pay for all of it.

Get RID of those people making the decisions in Blue Island. You residents deserve better than this outcome! It seems to me the people who are making the decisions are DRUNK!

It is a shame. 43 men had to find alternative housing in the critical stages of their recovery.

Do not let the City tell you they didn't know. The Mayor, Dave Minderman where in a meeting when this all took place. The Mayor even wrote a letter of support.

Dave Minderman gave permission to this organization to move clients in. Maybe he forgot.

As citizens of this town we need to stand up and speak up. How do we get an audit of the city financials and investigation on the politicians.

I am up for the challenge to head this investigation and plan on doing my homework. I will be at EVERY City Council, Planning, etc meeting that they have and I will be taking notes.

Shame on you Mr. Mayor and Fire Chief Vrshek. Beware Citizens of Blue Island, if this happen to them it can happen to you.

They bully people, they do not allow growth in the City. When going for a permit you have to jump through hoops to get it.

Appeal will be filed and here's to a trial by jury.

The City wants that property for something else. Section 8 housing, CVS or Strip Mall. We plan on letting Affordable do all the upgrades and sprinkler system and still not approve them at Zoning and City Council. See, us at City Hall have no compassion for another human being we've become insensitive to our fellow americans. I feel good about making veterans who lived in that facility homeless. I say I deserve a pat on the back.

A couple of years ago, CVS explored the Beggars property located on 127th and Western. Beggars purchased the sub shop to ensure enough land for the building and required parking. What went wrong?

Wish I knew. It is complete devastation. One word of advice: When you work with the City make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing. If they refuse send a followup email with the discussions you had. When sending the email make sure you request a response or set your email to read request.

Only time will tell what the City really wants to do with this property. They have really upset the sisters that still live here. Their only request was to live their life out here without this mess. They will continue to live on site with the protection of 14 men of Affordable, not the police who clearly did not protect them before when vandalism ran rapid in this beautiful historical building.

Life has obstacles and we need to remain focused on our Mission to help others. God will provide.

The City is now requesting a combined meeting in regards to Affordable Recovery Housing Foundation. Meeting set for August 21 with Planning and Zoning.

Has this ever happened before? What could be their motive?

The motive is simply to prevent the greasing of the Democratic wheels of progress. No good can come of this! This is a scheme devised to quickly show the Judge, that public hearings were given, and there is no need to go past Summary Judgement since there is no case. The proper way should be a two week hiatus so both sides would have a fair amount of time to prepare for another hearing.

Blue Island to require sprinklers in new construction

BLUE ISLAND — Officials recently updated the city’s fire and building codes to require fire sprinkler protection in all new construction one- and two-family homes and townhouses effective immediately.
he new residential fire sprinkler requirements were adopted as part of the 2012 editions of NFPA 1 Fire Code and the International Residential Code.
NFPA 1 is a model residential fire code from the National Fire Protection Association that is widely accepted across the U.S. and has included fire sprinkler requirements since its 2006 edition. The International Code Council’s IRC has required fire sprinklers since its 2009 edition. It has been adopted as a statewide measure in California and among numerous local jurisdictions nationwide, including the Illinois villages of Hoffman Estates and Gurnee.
“Congratulations to forward-thinking Mayor Donald Peloquin, the City Council and the fire and building departments for investing in the future safety of Blue Island residents and firefighters,” says Tom Lia, executive director of the nonprofit Northern Illinois Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board (NIFSAB).“They truly understand and recognize the important role that fire sprinklers play in protecting lives and property, making Blue Island a model fire-safe community.”
According to NIFSAB, Blue Island is now one of 79 municipalities and fire protection districts in Illinois that require fire sprinklers in one- and two-family homes through the adoption of the model codes provided by the International Code Council and NFPA. Blue Island marks the fifth jurisdiction in Illinois to pass residential fire sprinkler requirements this year, joining Gurnee, Manhattan Fire Protection District, Glencoe, and Flossmoor.

Blue Island is mostlt low incom people, who can not afford sprinkler systems. You will have to go elsewhere to make some money! Vote out the Mayor and his cronies.

This change in water sprinkler policy was implemented because the city is a defendant in a Federal lawsuit, for illegally evicting a group of people. The city is trying to cover their behind cva .

The judge will see right through them. Even thought the initial ruling was for Blue Island the case is still open pending an appeal.

I can't help but think the Mayor and his cronies didn't think this organization would fight back. SURPRISE!!!!

Now they are grasping at things. It is so obvious the deception this city has gotten them backed into a corner and they are trying every which way to get out of it.
