I only hope for the best for Amber and her family! I can only think that she probably would want to recover at a different hospital though!

THESE'OVERDOSES' HAPPEN MORE OFTEN THAN MOST PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT. THE NURSES THEN PROTECT EACH OTHER.WE HAVE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, ONCE AT RILEY AND ONCE AT METHODIST. WE HOPE THIS FAMILY IS WELL COMPENSATED SINCE THIS INCIDENT HAS REACHED THE PRESS.

Pray for the anesthesiologist as well. This wasn't done on purpose, and all of us have made mistakes. Ever run a red light accidently?? You could have killed someone..you have to live with that the rest of your life. This is a little girl who is still in school, pregnant, not married...I'm sure this isn't the life she "planned" either..but we will love her anyway despite her mistakes and she will learn from it. I do believe that she should be compensated for the error and helped as much as possible...but we shouldn't be too quick to judge the doctors and nurses. Anyone of us are capable of making fatal errors in our daily life. Life is fragile, thank God this little girl and her baby are alive first...then worry about getting her back on her feet. God Bless.

I also recivied a drug overdose and almost died at Methodist. The hospital tryed to cover it up and to date no one has even said sorry. And my insurance even had to pay for my ICU visit that the hospital caused.

we should know the name of the physican. If we are admitted to methodist hospital we should be able to request that he not treat us.

I think paying attention would solve/prevent most of whats going on at that hospital, slow down, recheck and take care of the patients.

Our prayres go out to Amber and her family as well as Methodist and the doctors involves. I also wonder if having a baby at 18 would also interfere with her future plans...I hope that it would. Be a good mom, and God Bless...

So, include the name of the young mother but don't disclose the name of the doctor who overdosed her on the meds?!?!?!? You have to love the medical community! HOME BIRTH HOME BIRTH HOME BIRTH HOME BIRTH

It is my hope that Amber will regain full use of her legs and be able to live a normal life.
I have had several bad experiences with Methodist hospital over the years.
A close friend had trouble just getting basic care from the staff a few years ago while critically ill.
My Father had the same problem a few years later after back surgery. I found the staff to be arrogant, nasty and lazy during Dad's hospitalization.
My wife died there due to a medical error and both the hospital, staff and physician got off scott free. I guess money talks?
So while I am sure they can do an acceptable job part of the time they certainly have problems in their hospital they cannot seem to see, understand or overcome.
No one I know will ever use their facility and my concern extends to the IU hospital's due to the "Clarion" connection.

You know, mistakes happen regardless of your profession. This is a fact of life. I have always worked in manufacturing and even in this field there are repetitive safegards for anything that will cause damage to people or machines. I find it incredible given that machines in medicine can cause this much damage to people, that there are not checks and rechecks by more than one person, in addition to stricter perameters programmed into the equipment.

My thoughts and prayers are with this young woman and her family.

It is a tragedy for this young woman. Hopefully she will recover fully. The Doctor at fault should be punished. Inattention and complacency have no place in a hospital. All medical staff have an obligation to be on their toes every second of every shift they work, peoples lives are at risk.
