Tulsa Mother Wants H1N1 Booster Shots Given At Schools

some people in this country actually pay for the healthcare and vaccinations that their children receive, I for one am grateful that the government has given the first one for free, maybe this will give the ones that think it's owed them time to cut back on their cigarettes and beer and put back a few dollars to find a way to pay for the second

These vaccines are dirty, and the efficacy hasn't been proven. The ego of Big Pharma and medical doctors to think they can manipulate the human immune system. The Human Genome Project only proved that we know NOTHING about the human immune system. Please parents: do your research before you jab your kiddos.

My children will not be receiving this vaccine no matter how "convenient" they make it. But for those that choose to vaccinate, I am astounded that you would have anything to complain about.. You didn't have to do anything for the initial vaccine. To get the booster you simply have to go to one of the many clinics and get it, for free!.. If you feel that strongly about this vaccine, this shouldn't be a problem. Quit your whining and take a few moments... that is if you feel that strongly about it.

Make that a "No thank you" for me as well. I'd be interested to know how many of the deaths were those receiving the vaccine. As for me and my house, we're opting out.

BOth of my kids have had it (one has asthma), and it wasn't all that bad. Just like a bad cold. I know it is very serious for some others though. Now, to this mom. Here's a thought-get off your rear, take your kid down to the health department or one of the other free walk up sites, wait in line, get the booster. Simple...but not as simple as complaining I guess!

They are already providing clinics where you can go and get your second dose. The whole point of them coming to schools is that it is better to get some vaccine than no vaccine.

What ignorant retoric! Vaccines have been used for many many years. The odds of being injured by the vaccine is way less than dying from the flu. Vaccines are not dirty or dangerous. Look at polio, small pox, whooping cough, the list goes on and on. Anyone what says otherwise does not understand how vaccines work. There is going to be a whole generation of kids that end up dying because the parents won't vaccinate.

There have been no deaths from the flu vaccine. But how many kids that refused the vaccine have died from the flu? Seriously people. Let's not give our kids the polio vaccine either. We haven't seen that disease in a long time so it must not be a threat. Read the statistics for yourselves instead of jumping on the stupidity wagon.

You're right vaccines like polio, small pox, whooping cough and such have been used for many years. That is the key word MANY YEARS. Why in the world would I give my child something that was rushed to make and the first time that it has been used? Pharmaceutical company's make medicines all the time that claim to be the miracle pill and then BAM 6 months to a year later they are recalling it and getting sued because of the side effects, sometimes permananent side effects that they cause. NO THANK YOU. I will wait and see how the many people react to this so called miracle vaccine. I will not take a chance with my kids or the one that I am carrying in my stomach. That is my input. If you really want your child to take this vaccine or get a booster then take them to the health department.

Well tulsa has clinics open till 7 pm no appointment needed. The rest of the state isn't that lucky! I took saturday off work and took 3 kids to 2 counties to stand in line when getting to the front was asked if we had an appt. Well when you call and try to make one, they are are only there, or doing this 9-3. So you have to take off work again and take them out of school. And the doctors office you can forget that- they don't know when they might get anything- it's all been bought by the government to give out to the health depts.

The h1n1 vaccine is essentially the same thing as the seasonal flu vaccine, so it has been used for many years. If the swine flu problem had started a few months earlier, that strain would have been included in the seasonal vaccine, and you would not be hearing anyone worry about the safety of it.

Why is this news????? Her child got the vaccination, and can go to many different places to get the booster shot - FOR FREE! The problem is.....?????

It's been used for 60 years and has been proven safe.

She does sound lazy and whiny, but the problem is that she is right. The health department should come back for follow-up visits. Yes, they make it very convenient to get the 2nd dose, but parents are lazy and won't come back. So, those first doses are wasted. If they are wanting to make sure kids are vaccinated, the health department should come back for the 2nd dose. You just can't rely on parents.

I don't have an answer for you, but a friend of a friend just had a miscarriage 2-3 days after getting the shot. She was 7weeks. She had no previous history of m/c... No one can answer if they're related...it hasn't been out long enough and there haven't been any studies done on pregnant women. I will tell you, that it has made up my mind on getting it...I won't and I'm not going to get it for my DD either. My daughter and I both had H1N1 last week, and although it truly sucks...I think I'll take my chances. One doctor will tell you to get it and the next will tell you not too...you have to do what's in your heart.

If you are a pregnant mother, please do not take the H1N1 swine flu vaccine. Instead, do everything that you can do to avoid public places and make sure to wash your hands more than you usually would. The truth is that if you do take the vaccine and then something happens, you will NOT be able to sue anyone (thanks to Congress). You will have to bear all the responsibility yourself. The reality is that the swine flu vaccine is untested and unsafe. The vaccine manufacturers have been given blanket immunity by Congress so you cannot sue them if something goes wrong. There are going to be many more serious side effects and many more deaths from the swine flu vaccine. Make sure that your family is not the next vaccine horror story.
