No thank you.
To all of you that believe Mexico is not for you. Great, stay home.
But be aware that the swine flu "epidemic" was manufactured by the US press. To be sure there were some case of the flu, and some people died. People die from the flu in every country all the time. It is usually because they did not or could not seek medical care in time. And during the entire US press hullabaloo about Mexico, there were more cases of the swine flu in the US.
By the way there is universal health care in Mexico, can you say that about the US?
During the CNN coverage and other hysterical stories about swine flu, we were enjoying sun, fresh air, jumbo shrimp and peace. There were no cases of the flu at all in the entire Baja Peninsula during that time, yet we were victimized by fear mongerers in the US.
It is safe here, and right now the first week in November the weather is glorious.
Keep in mind more people are killed on the streets of US cities than in Mexico. where is the population armed? Where are you shot because you cut someone off on the freeway? Where are children snatched off the street?
Where are children murdered by other children in their schools?
Where are children going without immunizations? Where are children and their parents that have no medical insurance? Where is that? the good ole USA. Don't be so smug about where you live, the richest nation in the world, the most powerful nation in the world cannot offer health care to all of its citizens, it cannot control handguns, and is overrun with gangs. And now deeply in debt to other nations. And it cannot rebuild one city that was devastated by a hurricane 4 years ago.
To be sure there is a serious problem with drug cartels in Mexico, this is localized trouble and it is usually the criminals killing each other. The government is working hard to combat this.
What about gangs in your cities and schools?
I read this in a newsletter:
A friend asked me if it was dangerous to drive from Northern California to Mexico,. I said "It sure is, you have to drive through Los Angeles to get here."
Living here for 10 years and I have never felt unsafe for a minute.
But I am flabbergasted by the untruths, misinformation and exaggeration in the US media machine about Mexico.
