You also seem to have a firm belief that by legalizing marijuana (or any drug) that the use of that drug in society will increase. There is no reason to believe this. There are many examples in Europe where formally illegal drugs are now legal and the use of those drugs actually went down. Not much mind you, and sometimes use increased slightly soon after legalization, but then fell to slightly below where it was when illegal.
For me, "personal responsibility" means I should be able to take part in any activity I want as long as it only effects me and other consenting adults. I do not need (or want) government to be my nanny. I can make choices for myself.
Now, the important part that goes with that, is that I have no expectation for government to fix my problems when the choices I make get me in trouble.
Get it? No free medical for herion users that got HIV... or alcoholics with liver disease... or smokers with lung cancer. No free housing or monthly checks for those you had babies they couldn't afford and don't want to work. No bailouts for corrupt financial companies or homeowners who purchased more house than they could afford.
Now mind you, I am all for any churches or charities that choose to help out any of the folks in the above situations, I am just not for our government spending our tax dollars on such things. You see, if the taxpayers are forced to pay for the bad choices others make in their lives, then the taxpayers, like yourself, start to feel that they should have some control over how other people live their lives... and then there goes freedom.
