What a great way to spend your vacation that you've saved up for, made plans for and took off of work for.
Next time go on an Alaskan cruise. None of the germs can survive the cold. |

Oh, man, you couldn't get me on a cruise ship for anything in the world!

this is what happens when people don't wash their hands. there are so many slobs on these ships it's amazing this doesn't happen on every ship.

I had something a few days ago. Man it was terrible, all sorts of vile stuff was leaving me from both ends. Thank God I was at home and could call in sick

Some slob brought it on board. I've cruised a dozen times and never got sick. Follow the same rules on ship as on land:
1. DON'T shake hands, 2. DON'T stick your fingers in your mouth or nose, 3. WASH hands frequently (especially if you violate 2.)! |

Oh Yeah? Since when are YOU an epidemiologist? IT STARTED THERE, YOU INLAND IDIOT! Norovirus: What You Need to Know The highly contagious Norovirus strain until recently was largely limited in its plague to ships sailing Alaska in summer (in 2002 alone, passengers on Alaska-Northwest Canada-bound ships including Princess' Ocean Princess -- now P&O's Oceana, Royal Caribbean's Radiance of the Seas and Holland America's Ryndam, were afflicted in significant numbers). But with outbreaks being reported on ships more and more often, awareness levels have been significantly raised. Norovirus suspected in cruise ship illness Vomiting, diarrhea afflicted 125 aboard the Celebrity boat The Associated Press July 20, 2006 VANCOUVER, British Columbia - For the second time this summer, a wave of illness believed to be from norovirus has hit a Celebrity Cruise ship along the Alaska coastal route, health officials said. Kevin Carlisle, a Health Canada environmental health officer, said nausea, vomiting and diarrhea afflicted 105 of the 2,282 passengers and 20 of the 952 crew members on the company's ship Infinity, which returned to Vancouver on Sunday from a seven-day Alaskan cruise. Those who were ill responded well to treatment, according to a company statement. Carlisle said the symptoms were consistent with norovirus, which was blamed for illness among 115 people on the Celebrity Cruise ship Mercury during a weeklong cruise between Seattle and Alaska in June. Later in June a 37-year-old American woman complaining of severe abdominal pains was taken by a Canadian military helicopter from the Mercury, which was near the north end of Vancouver Island, to a hospital on the island. It was not clear whether that ailment was norovirus. The short-term but uncomfortable illness is as prevalent in the general population as on cruise ships, Carlisle said. While it is not considered a serious ailment, "it is a public health issue because of the number of people impacted," he said. After the episode in June, Celebrity Cruises blamed an increased in norovirus cases on land for the increase on their ships. The company instituted a new illness prevention program focusing on increased sanitation, enhanced cleaning procedures and special cleaning of "high touch" areas. The company also added two additional doctors to Mercury's crew, bringing the total number of doctors on the ship to four, along with three nurses. http://list.uvm.edu/cgi-bin/wa... |

Thats a good idea, at least in theory. They also have some antartic cruises that some people might enjoy taking. Go visit Norway, I'm usre a travel agent can get people great deals if the demand arises. |
|
Wow, you are really vile. |
|
By the way, are YOU an epidemiologist? I'm no expert and NEVER CLAIMED to be. If you can't handle an opinion, I suggest you stop reading these posts. |
|
Didn't mean to respond to you in my last post, excuse the annoyance I felt. |
|

I was aboard the Liberty (Carnival) where 700 got sick. The staff did what they could, but to no avail. I will never take another cruise.

I lived on the beach in Broward County for 23 years, so much for your theory that I'm an INLANDER. I dated a person whose father was the DIRECTOR of the CDC for many years and IS a world-renowned epidemiologist. So I do happen to know a LITTLE. Save your venomous comments. |

Who you think started it? Mormon |

Why do you suppose there has been such outbreaks like this on cruises the last couple of years? We took many cruises back in the 60's, 70's and 80's and you hardly heard of such problems. Anyone have any ideas why these viruses are such an ongoing problem now? Perhaps because of the massive ship sizes now with thousands rather than hundreds of passengers? Travel nowadays with all the sicknesses aboard cruises and the threat of terrorists aboard flights really makes traveling very unpleasant.

Don't worry. There's plenty of Azzhole Only Cruises, Jagoff |
