I am the sister to Luke and it is disgusting that people in Seymour do not have the compassion for what has happen. To all the people that think they know what really happen, I think until you have a walk a mile in my brother shoes you have nothing important to say. This just shows me that people are not godly people anymore and I will pray for them. That if you are an animal lover that this never happens to you. Whatever happen to people just have compassion for their neighbors. I am thinking to some people it is just an animal but to them (the family of Macy) it was part of their family. To all the people that have nothing better than to gossip, I hope that you will get a life, and uses it to better use.
I think you should learn to spell then teach your brother who is not smart enough to fight this fight.By the way, What happened to his christianity?

I still think what they did to Lukes dog was bull. I hopt everyone doesnt forget all this anytime soon. & as to the vaccination debate: how many people acctually have their dogs up to date on rabies shots? Not that many. Especially if their arent lose.

Oh & I get it if you dont like Luke or his family and I can see how you might think that this was his fault but hes not the one you should be thinking about. Macy couldnt have done anything different so could you all be a little more respectful?

She was a family member, not an object & I find the way you all talk about her very offensive.

There is no debate. The city has a law that says to vaccinate and register your animal. The city is responsible for not enforcing that law and Luke is part of city government. Regardless of it being a bad situation and sad for the family, the fact is he chose to ignore a law he took an oath to uphold, and it cost his dogs life.

I dont care, I didnt ask if there was a law I said nobody listens to it! We should have the right to raise our dogs how we want. The cops need to worry more about the dope heads and less about everyones lives.

I honestly feel bad as a dog lover to hear of anyone losing their pet. It is upsetting, and maybe could have been handled differently. But the right, as you say, to raise our dogs how we want would totally bite every single one of us in the ass in the end. Laws and vaccinations for our pets should be taken seriously, as there are unfortunate, completely avoidable conciquences.

I believe there is some "politics" going on with what happened. The family was NOT offered the alternative to have their dog observed. The dog was NOT held for the required amount of time that most AC facilites hold the animals for observation. The dog was killed within 20 hours. I hope that although the owner of the dog did not have rabies shots for the dog (have you ever known anyone being arested for not getting their pets rabies shots).....that the proper protacol was also NOT taken. I hope that he continues with a lawyer and this 'good ole boy' attitude of do what I tell you to do and not what protacol is never is done again.

Laura U, you don't know what your talking about. The owner was offered the alternative and didn't want to pay for the dog to be locked up for 6 months. He would rather risk the lives of his kids for a dog!!! This is just stupid. The dog could have gotten rabies and then got loose and bit other kids! The health dept. did the right thing even if the owner didn't want too. Yea I would rather see a kid die than a dog!!! You people are nuts... The owner should never be a loud to have dogs again if he won't take care of them!!!

I have to tell you that some people do not have a soul anymore. All they want to do is to bring people down. Well I have news for Marshfield person that said that, the owner should not get another dog. You make me sick it is people like you that have no idea what you are talking about. If you knew the family you would not being saying that. They are caring parents and their dog meant alot to them. For all the people that can not get their story straight. You need to shout the HELL UP!! Some people have nothing better to do then to say stuff out their ass.

Seymour, I know the whole story and they did not have the vaccines done on the dog bottom line!! If you don't want to take care of your dogs (vaccines) then you should not have dogs. Everyone is so worried about the dog, what about the kids in the community that could have got rabies if the dog had got them!! If would not have been a issue if he had got the vaccinations done like dog owners should! Take some responsibility instead of blaming someone else!!

Although I would never side with this guy on the dog issue(if he had gotten it vacc like he is suppose to it would of ended diff) I think there are exceptions to shooting a firearm in city limits, I know he isnt a cop but would a cop get a ticket for firing a gun in town in an emergency situation...no, he done the right thing in shooting the skunk had he not there could of been many more dogs or even humans in contact with the rabid animal. So to say he should be fined for shooting a firearm in town is just down right stupid

No it's not stupid. He has no right to fire a fire arm in the city limits. And I think he should get a ticket since he is making such a big issue of the whole thing. Why doesn't he just say he made a mistake and forget it. You are right he's not a cop...and he was wrong for what he done. And he needs to be punished.. Instead he is trying to blame everybody else for what he done

Isn't the issue here:
Health officials said, for an unvaccinated dog that came in close contact with a rabid skunk, the options were either a six-month quarantine or euthanasia, and the final decision was really up to the dog owner.

They had the owner going in circles and confused, because later the state vet called and said the owner had no option. Over the phone...not in writing.

What does the law say? Read it in writing! Offer the link to the law. I certainly can't find this any place on the web. I WANT TO KNOW! I am going through almost the same thing.
Glad I found this page-

Marshfield, you are so wrong. My dog has been vaccinated. He picked up a small, dead varmint.(A stiff one that had been dead a long time, not a fresh one.) Anyway, I called the vet to see if he could get sick. Wow, what a mess I created. They contacted the health dept. and told me to call them too. I provided papers of his shots to the Health Department as they asked. He was quarantined for 45 days. On the phone, I was also told they can come in anytime, take the dog, and send in the dogs head for testing, even though we elect to have him quarantined. What a shocking and awful thing to hear from anyone! My attorney said it should be 10 days, not 45! The state disagreed! So who is right?

So, you must be Amy or Christy? Next time, just get your animal vacinated. I believe that's what I heard Luke say on ky3, I guess I should have gotten her vacinated. Yeah, I think that would have solved the problem.
No, That would not have solved the problem. I can't believe it, my dog has been vaccinated. But I am hearing the same thing, they will, then he changed his wording, they can take our dog at any time, cut its head off and send it in for testing. How gruesome to hear. Couldn't it be said any other way? I try to do everything 100% correct. And to think this would not apply to us since our dog has had every shot, on time, every time! I learned other wise in 2012.
