Due to limited supply, the H1N1 shot is not yet being given to people 65 years and older. That age group has statistically a lower chance of getting H1N1 flu (perhaps due to partial immunity acquired decades ago) but if they do get the H1N1 flu, it hits them hard. The most lethal complication of H1N1 in older adults is ordinary pneumococcal pneumonia, so adults who don't get the H1N1 shot should be sure to get the pneumonia vaccine that has been recommended for years already. Only a small fraction of older adults has been immunized against pneumonia, however. If you or anyone you know is in the older age or doesn't qualify for H1N1, get the pneumonia vaccination -- it may save a life. Ask your doctor.

think carefuly before injecting your child .... listen to shows like Democracy Now on NPR stations or Alex Jones on 1340am here in SC, Coast to Coast AM ... available on the internet. "The swine flu has hit children especially hard since arriving in the U.S. this spring. Half of the county's 24 confirmed cases have appeared in children nine and younger, though hundreds more are suspected to have gotten the virus. The county only tests cases requiring hospitalization." so that's 12 kids .... tragic ... but how many kids die everyday from car accidents or other illnesses?? how many were in bad health before catching the flu?? how many kids die from the flu in a normal yr ?

Yeah, and we all know with metaphysical certitude that vaccines cause autism, and fluoride is used for government/space alien visitor mind control. Stay away, everyone, stay away (so that there is some left for me and my kids).

Unfortunately, there isn't enough vaccine available for those of us (young and old) who WANT to be afforded some protection from the H1N1 virus.

Get used to standing in line for health care/treatments/vaccines. Also bureaucrats making health care policies and decisions and promises. AKA "death panels". Remember, BHO's secretary of Health and Human Services promised 8 or 9 weeks ago that there would be plenty of vaccine by mid October. She was wrong about that too. By the way, her family got immunized.

@ Pete Thats really really old info you have there, I think its from last year actually... Current Stats on H1N1: http://www.cdc.gov/H1n1flu/update.htm From the link: "In addition, 18 flu-related pediatric deaths were reported this week; 15 of these deaths were confirmed 2009 H1N1, and three were influenza A viruses, but were not subtyped." Thats 15 pediatric deaths THIS WEEK ALONE! Come on now people, there is a small chance of having serious reactions to the vaccine (one in million. literally) but 15 deaths last week and this thing is only getting started! Here in nor-cal its been confirmed that if you have the flu, its something like 90% possible its H1N1. I know 10 people who have gotten it.

Not Enough Vaccine wrote: Unfortunately, there isn't enough vaccine available for those of us (young and old) who WANT to be afforded some protection from the H1N1 virus. Tell me about it. You want to hear something truly infuriating? In a KGO7 news story last week, announing a free vaccine clinic in San Jose, the reporter interviewed (translated) a Spanish-speaking man of around 30 years. He was perfectly healthy and so not in the priority group. The report had just stressed that only those who were the high-risk groups should go to the clinic, and had pointed out that no proof of residence or other identification would be required, so "immigrants" need not be afraid to come. A woman who was going to be working int he clinic was vague about what proof of health satus would be required for those in the 25-65 age group (in that age group only those with serious health problems are considered at risk). So after that lead-in, this healthy and obviously (the report made this very clear without actually saying it) undocumented, young man told the reporter that he was glad to hear that ID wouldn't be required, and that since he was in contact with a lot of people when he was looking for work (read: day laborer), he would be going to the free clinic for a shot. And then there are those of us who have health concerns that aren't deemed serious enough to get on the "list" with our medical groups, who have tried to get a vaccination -- to PAY for one out of our own pockets -- and can't get one. So are we supposed to lie about our health record or our age, and go line up for a free shot? Meanwhile, it was reported that Wall Street financial firms were issued as much or more vaccine as some New York hospitals. I am so disgusted with the way this has been handled. I have no trust in our government to fairly and efficiciently handle a more serious health crisis. This is like a dry run for managing a terrorist's biological attack on this country -- and it doesn't look good for the US. If the bio-hit happens, I predict that the very wealthy, the connected, the powerful will get treatment first. The "rabbble" will have to fight it out at free clinics. And those of us who follow the rules and trust the instructions of our medical groups, and who would never go to a free clinic because we believe that they should be for those who can't afford treatment or who don't have doctors (we are, admittedly, a little gullible in this respect, but are rapidly becoming less so as time goes by)...those of us who play by the rules...will be royally s-crewed.

Hey, that's life. I've found some people like being "infuriated". It gives one such a nice sense of superiority. Maybe you should learn to get a grip. Or not. Who cares. @ Santa Cruz Why is that bull? Given the high number of people infected right now, especially in the schools, these kids have allot of exposure to the sickness. It takes about 2 weeks for your immune system to build up antibodies with the vac. The flu can be in your system for about the same amount of time before you have a response to it. Example: Little Timmy gets sneezed on or shares a drink with Bobby, who is just about to get sick. The virus gets into little Timmys system and starts to do its thing. A few days later Timmys mom gets him vaccinated. A few days after that Timmy gets real sick. Mom thinks the vac made her kid sick because she doesnt know about Bobby, who was out of school for a week with the flu. Just because you cant understand how the vacs are made or how a virus works does not mean its a bunch of bull. I bet you believe the 1918 Spanish Flu was the result of a vaccine too.

DNA modification? Thats a new one...
Ya all go ahead and not get the shot. Its your choice. But don't belittle those who have decided to get it. Some of us have listened to research from both sides of the argument and have made our decision. Allot of the naysayers are the same people who believe in "chemtrails", the Illuminati, or the secret FEMA death camps. Not exactly reliable sources of info Im afraid.

The current issue of The Connection Magazine has some excellent articles about the H1N1 flu shot that give very good reasons for not taking it. Some of the shots contain squalene adjuvant, which is now recognized as a key player in auto-immune diseases that occur in people who have had squalene-containing vaccines. Over 3/4 of the Gulf War 1 vets are now dead or disabled due to the experimental squalene-containing vaccines they received as soldiers. They were exposed to many other toxins in that war but the common denominator was the vaccines. This occurs because our own bodies make squalene. Unfortunately, when squalene is added to vaccines, it is coupled with material that our bodies recognize as foreign invaders to be defeated. This results in the body mistaking its own squalene as a foreign invader which triggers an auto-immune reaction for the rest of your life. And the squalene in the vaccine isn't even necessary. So why are they adding it? The mercury/thimerosol added to vaccines is also unnecessary. So why are they adding it? Why aren't they paying attention to the latest research that shows that both these ingredients cause problems? If you still want to take the shot, at the very least, read the insert of the actual shot you're taking, including the potential side effects. At least you won't be surprised if problems occur later. If you want to avoid the flu, eat healthy, eat organic, and take lots of Vitamins C & D (1000's of units of each on a daily basis). There are safe, natural remedies that are more effective than anything the pharmalogical drug pushers offer, and they make paying for your own healthcare easily affordable. I'm a healthy 63 year old. I've never had health insurance, and I never get the flu.

They dont even bother testing for it because everyone had it. B. How many children are dying each weak of obesity would be a better reply to my stats. @ el gringo See, responses like that are what make you people so hare to believe.
