Well gang, we are in Portland Or today, at OHSU for his pre op. Came last week but they had the wrong records and had no idea why we were here. Tried to tell hubby there wan nothing wrong according to the ct scans. Yup, the ct scans of some 72 year old man, my hubby is 44. I wonder what they did to the other guy! Anyway surgery is the 25th , house foreclosed and were selling everything we own. Its not just the loss of health, ots loss of everything weve all worked so hard for. Hating life right now but I refuse to give up on hubby, hes worth my life.

God Bless you and your Husband, Patty. Hope all goes well. Still in the fight and have got the OCI involved now. Ethicon is ignoreing all the complaints coming in and the FDA is not doing a thing. So we are putting on the pressure any way we can. I'll be thinking of you and hopeing for the Best.....

I had a hysterectomy back in 2006, and they did use a surgical mesh. Recently I started having a drainage from my navel, and it is bright red, mostly after intercourse or exercise. I also have soreness and swelling off and on and a low grade fever from time to time waking me up with sweats during the night. Anyone with similar problems from hysterectomy and mesh implants?

Great info. Were you able to definitively link your symptoms to the mesh? If so, how? I am talking with doctors who are all over the board with what they think it is. I'm going through money and time like crazy. I want to stop the music and make some clear headed decision about the exact connections between the mesh and the symptoms.
Still no word from the surgical practice on exactly what batch and model the patch was. I'll post it and keep the forum updated.
Doctors are human and know what they are taught and mostly taught by the big pharma, so in saying that I had to find out the truth through research. However, I knew the truth from my own sufferings. The illnesses, allergies began immediately after the mesh implant. I knee how my body was like prior to the mesh and then the downturn after the mesh. Although the implant surgeon and so many doctors denied it could be the mesh, I knew it in my heart. Hind sight is 20/20, they were all covering their a@$!. Even if they didnt implant they dont want to be supeonaed for any possible lawsuits. I have lost faith in the doctors, hosp, FDA and the big pharma. I went to so many doctors over the years I couldnt remember all of them, even though I found the true reason for my illnesses just last year. I recently found few more doctors office notes AFTER the mesh surgery dates. One of the doctors noted "Pt never GI issues until she had the above mentioned hernia surgery", hmmm. I gave so many doctors the answers but either was ignored or didn't want to believe it for whatever the reason. Just had yrs of run around, about 7yrs. I only found the truth through other victims on the internet, if not for the internet I probably still believe it was just me, or in my head as so many had suggested. No, it was not in my head but the mesh all along. I have the explant pictures to prove it and doctors can't deny it. After researching the materials and what it does to the body, it totally makes sense why my endocrine system is messed up.
Btw, the hosp is where you will get the product info, not necessarily the doctor's office.
The more you read, the more emotions will arise, from shock, to anger, sadness etc...

Remember, I had to do my own research and bring black and white documents to my doctors for them to do the right tests to give me the proper diagnosis. Most dx has no cure only can deal with the symptoms. Even if your thyroid blood work comes back normal, but you have all the symptoms of hypothyroid, you prob do have it. Because sometimes the "normal" amount maybe in your body but your adrenals or other organs may not work insync to make your thyroid function properly.
It will be a struggle to get the truth but all you can do is fight for the truth...Best wishes to you.

I filled out the website questionnaire on NIS's website a couple of months ago and was sent an e-mail reply from Dr. Petersen and a voice message from a receptionist at NIS telling me to call back to set up a phone consultation.

I did so and a day and time were arranged for a phone consult with Dr. Petersen. Well, Thursday at 5:00 arrived and departed with no call. I called his office at 5:30 (2:30 Vegas time) that same day and talked to a receptionist and she told me he had left for the day and said they were sorry for the inconvenience. We proceeded to schedule another phone consultation for the following day (Friday) at 12:30 p.m.(9:30 a.m. Vegas time) Once again, no call from Dr. Petersen. A half-hour later I called NIS to see what was going on and nothing but voicemail. I never did hear back from Dr. Petersen or his staff.

I've remember reading another comment by someone on this forum who said that the same thing happened with them. I'm checking out Dr. Desarda in India - maybe I'll have better luck with him. I don't really want to fly all the way to India for surgery but my options here in the US seem to be diminishing and my pain level is becoming unbearable. Hope that helps...

OK I would still try to give Dr. Peterson a try. I am not sure the Desarda Repair is any better than those surgeons doing Desarda repairs in the US.

Question? Why hasn't insurance companies gotten involed in on this mess? Anyone of them has paid out on surgery hospital etc... Or even Medicare/ Medicaid?? Looking at all political arguing of our medical, SS Medicare /Medicaid going broke. It seem any more any channeyou flip to see hear ads of lawsuiter bad drugs medical devices etc.. where is big brother at? FDA was the asholes that put them on the market begin with. So is watching FDA ? To me it looks like everyone has their hands in the hernia mesh payout jar, all that is but the victim.

There ARE surgeons who remove mesh and do not use the mesh to repair hernias. There are two at UCLA, do some research and call around. And Cedar sinai in LA has some too.

I have heard of many people having their mesh removed. Often times it is replaced with a different mesh, as in a "light weight' mesh, etc. But I was in contact with a women from Seattle, WA who had her hernia repaired by a Dr. Allsion Perrin at NW Hospital. She had only repaired for the most part baby hernias and some younger kids using the old "stitch" method and as I remember had not done any on adults. But the principle is the same. This women had posted on Dr. Goodyear's board and basically was pooh poohed.
Well, she is doing just fine and it has been as I remember about 5 or 6 years and is athletic and has no pain. So this proves to me, that mesh is not necessary for inguinal hernias. Her name is Kim if you want to search for her on Dr Goodyear's board. There is a search option there for you to do so.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Cancer

The question of who and what you should believe is never far away today. Someone could easily mislead you, although it's a moot point whether they do this intentionally or not. Or there could be a communication glitch that means no one knows what's going on. Be very careful when handling money because there could be lots of silly mistakes, and if you're really unlucky there might also be some double-dealing too.
