"Today the Bureau of Labor and Statistics reported that despite all of the Obama administration’s job creation claims, unemployment has risen to 10.2%. Instead of focusing on job creation, the left in Congress continues to pursue other priorities like their $1.5 trillion health care plan which is partially financed by job killing employer mandates. I have to see where the republican candidate stands on important issues. You can forget about it. The Democrats in Chicago and Crook County are SO powerful with the backing of the unions that the Republicans stand no chance, even if unemployment hits 20 percent. Who are the Republicans sending against union politician Jan Schakowsky? Some no name who has no experience or money. It's a joke. In an event, NO DEMS IN 2010

BTW-this topic is NOT about Bush. It's about the Democrats trying to ram down our throats an unsustainable trillion dollar government healthcare public option. And the dems want more government spending and programs. Because of the George Bush and the crooked Congress the last 8 years the Euro within the next year will be the reserve currency of the World. If it wasn't for the Chinese having so many investments in America the Euro would replace the USD now but for the value of the Chinese Real Estate owned in America and their investments in American Bonds. What industry is has Bush and the Crooked Republicans left in America to sustain Americans? You've destroyed yourselves. Another liberal nut job. Still blaming Bush? The primary reason for the economic meltdown was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ignored warnings from Greenspan and (gulp) President Bush that the mortgage lending was too easy and going out to people who could not pay back. Remember, in 2006, Barney FFFFFFrank and Chris Dodd said everything was hunky dory and that the Republicans were trying to prevent poor people from owning a piece of the American dream. Remember, the Democrats took control in 2006 about the same time the economy began to tank. It wasn't Bush' fault. It was the Democrats fault. Now, the Democrat and Obama are growing government and spending like drunken salors in the middle of a severe recession. No Dems in 2010

Jorge de P.Rico I agree, but as Jimmy stated (and I hate to agree with Jimmy) the majority of Puerto Ricans turned down statehood. My memory is a little fuzzy on this, but wasn't there some type of bombing of the capital (US) by Puerto Rican's against statehood? If memory serves me correctly, they are still in prison. So as Jimmy stated, it's an issue that has to first worked out by the people of Puerto Rico and the US cannot intervene in that. It has to be volunatary. As it stands, Puerto Ricans enjoy all the priviledges of US citizenship save voting in the Presidential election, if I am correct.

People calling 911 for minor injuries and other stupid stuff. And none of these people can't be turned away either. Yeah, I've heard quite a few good ones too when we had to rush our two year old to the ER a couple years ago. They had just had a mother in there a few nights before claiming something was wrong with her kid. They ran all kinds of tests and found nothing wrong. However, the mother insisted they keep her child overnight. After telling her they couldn't admit the kid because they couldn't find anything wrong, the mother told them, "Well I have a date tonight and who's going to watch my kid!" Great, this is the kind of crap we're going to have to pay for! I hope a bunch of you liberals die waiting for a doctor because they are all too busy dealing with crap like that to take care of people who are really sick!!

Yet as an individual EVEN if it means MY tax dollars, I have no issue helping individuals who NEED the help. . Barb: you say, "everyone is extremely selfish and greedy" in this country. But then say that you are "making good money", as well as your parents, so you must be "greedy" too, no? I'm thinking you have a late-model vehicle, nice home or apt., nails done weekly, daily bath, good food daily, latest clothing styles (at least up-to-date), regular hair appointments, social activities, dating, restaurant trips, vacations, etc., etc. It's rather difficult to swallow your rhetric about your good samaritan ideals being applied to all while you are successfully employed with a steady income. While it's true that you may give to some of those "less fortunate" I don't see how you can throw stones if you are to any degree better off than the worst case homeless human out there. Your Bulgarian friend should know more than most Americans that any "homeless" person in this country is certainly not nearly as disadvantaged as a "homeless" person in an eastern European country. Anyone in this country can find assistance in the form of food, shelter, and clothing just about anywhere near populated regions. I think the main issue that most people have with the "homeless" is seeing so many who are able and fit (not paraplegic, or largely disabled) and still continue to seek a free living without working. Some continue to have children with no means of support. Some teenagers throw caution or common sense to the wind and decide to take risks of having children while they have no skills, plans, education. All these people most certainly have the knowledge of those risks, so there's absolutely no excusing them. Do the math of these people bringing more people into the world and allowing the pattern to continue, and you get a welfare state where no one has initiative. Are the ones left with initiative responsible? Why? You want to punish the successful and reward the not-caring? I'm befuddled. You say, "There is something wrong in a country where there are people making millions of dollars and on the same end individuals barely making it." No, there is nothing wrong with that concept. The world, no matter where you are, will be that way. There will always be the folks with initiative and drive and responsibility, and then there will always be those who decide on being lazy and irresponsible. It's a fact. Sorry, but your utopian dream is exactly that - a dream. You say, "And after seeing how so many Americans have lost jobs, income, homes, dignity..." Good times come and go, and bad times come and go. We all go through some hardships at times. If I lost my job, home, income, or anything else, I certainly would NOT lose my dignity. If someone else loses his dignity, then that's his problem. I can go anywhere and survive, and I'm no one special, just think that I'm responsible for myself. I see "Help Wanted" signs everywhere, you just have to go do it. Remember, I'm not different than anyone, other than I don't expect you (or anyone else) to support me. Remember to do as you prescribe and give all your accumulated earnings to those less fortunate. Yes, that means all, and not just a paltry few bucks. You should not be living the good life as long as a single irresponsible person is living anything less.

Dude wrote: <quoted text> Many Americans are living paycheck to paycheck due to poor money management. It's a fact that Americans tend to live above their means as well. Buying things we want but don't necessarily need. For instance, during the whole clunker ordeal, many went out and purchased cars knowing they were on a limited budget. The solution is simple. The rich should stop being greedy, the middle class should cut back on their wants and the poor (the one's who are abusing the system) need to pick up their slack, so no one else has too. If each class was being responsible, this wouldn't be an issue. But once a class become irresponsible, everything is thrown outta whack. And like I said, the rich has been stealing for some time now. Anyone who pay taxes should not be struggling in this country. Either we are living above our means or our money is being abused somehow. and its gubberments job to stop all that isn't it ? what in the hell have you been listening to ? you cannot make people wealthier by taking more of their money . you do not make people wealthier by mandating that they pay and then fining them if they can't , our government is out of control, and thats provable simply by asking yourself one question . who gave the people who work for us the power to punish us with fines for doing what they say to do ? last time I looked it is supposed to be them doing what we tell them to do .
