I didn't even read the supposed facts of the lawsuit. What a CROCK. These people have no reason to falsify ANY documents. The ones I have had contact with via having 6 teeth crowned, are of the highest calibre! Dr. Terry is just the BEST!!! This clinic has treated me better than my own home dentist (whom I have known her and her family all of my life)! I am seriously considering going twice a year for routine cleanings. I live in a small town in Florida but each trip I have made has been well worth the drive. If anyone with a brain will read the above messages and evaluate the grammarical mistakes and general lack of at least spelling and composition of letters knowledge, I think that will explain some of the complaints-again based on my experience. Too many people have been here for tooth extractions and dentures for this to be correct. 15,000 people can't be that stupid!!!!!

I went in September 2008 and had 13 teeth pulled and a full upper denture placed in. My work was done by Dr. Scott who was very profesional. The only pain I felt was the shots in the roof of my mouth. I had no pain from the extractions. I got in the chair at 7:45 a.m. and was in my car driving myself at 8:30 a.m. I returned at 1:00 p.m. for my dentures and was gone at 1:40 p.m.
I also was given 15 pain pills for 13 teeth pulled and only had to use 5 of them. Dr.Scott was a very good dentist to me and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. |

Finally came back to read some more. To the people bashing anyone who made negative comments. You have no right to bash someone for telling their experience. If their experience involved negative outcome, then they should be able to tell it. We're here to talk about our experience. If you want to start a new topic called (people who bitch about stuff and what I have to say to them) then fine. Grammatical errors and whatnot? That's just "you" trying to be smart and has nothing to do with someones experience at Sextons.
I said some negative, and some positive. I'm not posting here to gain or lose business from Sexton. As a matter of fact, I'm going back in about three months to have my permanents made and hopefully correct my under-bite. My wife is going back soon for her reline. It appears by what I've read that probably 99 out of 100 people have a completely good experience (as can be expected) but it's nice to have a heads up about what "can" happen, not just what you "think" will happen. |

I went to Sexton early 2007, 19 teeth removed, full uppper and lower denture. The shots by Dr. Scott were the most painful and callous I've ever experienced. He screamed at me to close my mouth when he finished and I couldn't - my lower jaw was dislocated. He grabbed my chin and shoved my lower jaw back into alligment - even with sedation it felt like a bolt of lightning going through my jaws, they ached for weeks and I had huge bruises on my cheeks and chin. The immediate dentures fit ok but remember, the newly damaged tissue is able to mold and grow to any shape that it's forced into. I went back to get my permanent set in late summer 2008, paid for the "Signature" and got an upper that is twice as thick as it should be and hurts more than I can tell you. The lower is so big, I can't speak without it popping up when the muscles on the sides of my mouth move - as in talking or eating. They only touch the gum line in 2 places. I was told "lower dentures float". I didn't expect any suction like an upper would have but I didn't expect floating to mean, no control over where the denture would sit. When I asked for an "adjustment" I was told that I should get some Poligrip. Not what I planned after spending over $600, not including hotel and travel expenses. I asked for the dentist to look at the upper because they rock from front to back. He told me that is way they are supposed to fit and they could do nothing else and don't bother asking or coming back. If you are considering this as an option for dentures, the better plan is to mail Sexton a check and forget about going there. You will leave with nothing you paid for and have to suffer the anxiety of being dehumanized and insulted. Go to the bank for a loan, sell something, save up or do whatever you have to do but don't give them the pleasure of ripping you off for your hard earned money and still end up with dentures you can't wear. I don't know you, I have nothing to loose or gain, have no reason to lie to you. Don't take a chance of being in the group of people who have had bad experiences. Trust me, it could very well be you next month telling others on this site about the nightmare you experienced at Sexton.

I live in Florence and has gotten work done at Sexton. This is news to me. I have only heard good (positive) things about Sexton's Dental Clinic. This is really shocking.
If enough complaints are made maybe they will ask this dentist to vacate. Oh, by the way. I was online reading about the trick or treater that was killed in Sumter last night and acidentally ran upon this. |

Its very unfortunate to hear so many negative things being said of the clinic. Granted, these dentist do not have time to chat or to hold your hand but they provided a good service. I have been a couple of times now and have gotten what I have paid for and saved a lot of money. Folks please keep everything in perspective, if you are having several teeth pulled, nothing anyone does is going to make it a pleasant experience.

I ALSO WENT TO SEXTON TO HAVE A PARCHEL ON THE UPPER AND LOWER. I WAS ALSO TREATED BADLY MY THE DENTIST. HIS NAME IS DR. SCOTT!!! HE GETS A GREAT DEAL OF JOY OUT OF MAKING PEOPLE HERT!!!! HE ALSO LIKES TO GIVE YOU A BAD TIME.
EVERYONE ELSE AT THE CLINIC WAS GREAT. I HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH THE WORK. THE COST IS LOW ENOUGH TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME TO HAVE WORK DONE |

We have had a very difficult time with a dentist in Chattanooga Tennessee, Dr. Drew Shabo, DDS; several of his past-injured patients now eat baby food. If you feel you been subjected to mal-practice, you have three options;
1.Do nothing and live with it. 2.File a claim with the state board of heath (I strongly suggest this option because there is no enforcement of state medical laws until you complete and file this specific claim with the state the dentist operates in and it cost nothing.) 3.File a civil suit.(Civil suits will cost $20,000 to $30,000+ by the time everything completed. One consistency, we found with bad doctors is, falsified professional credentials which can be checked out. Use the American Dental Assoc. or go to this thread for details; http://www.topix.com/forum/city/chattanooga-t... |

My parents (who are now deceased) both had dentures done there years ago. Dad's NEVER fit, my Mother's barely fit. I had dentures done in 2006--the worst F'n dental experience I have ever had. My dentures didn't fit from the jumb, they told me to come back another day, which meant another day off from work for me. Sorry, I don't think so. My sister said she would eat sh** b-4 going back, her experience was that bad. She tears up everytime she talks about it, and this is one of the "hardest" women I kno. It's inexpensive, but their is ABSOLUTELY nothing good about it. From the wait to the service. If you can go somewhere else...please do.

In response to Mr. Turner's reply.
I have been to Sexton in MB, twice. Once for my temp upper plate (did not have the teeth extracted there) and again 2 years later for a replacement. The office staff were extremely pleasant and reassuring. The dentist, however, is a whole different story. He was the same dentist that I had seen the first time to get the original upper. I have been in medicine for 21 years, and if this doctor had been my PCP, I would report him to the State of SC Medical Board. He is beyond obnoxious and belitting, actually vicious when pushing down the substance used to take the impression for the denture to the point I almost vomited and when I pulled my head back, he felt my lower teeth, thought I was biting him, snatched his hand away and said "forget it." Luckily the impression gave me a decent denture and I had it sized by a friend who is in NC and does denture preparation. I now need a lower and all the gum/jaw surgery is nothing compared to the trauma of knowing I will have to deal with this idiot. I realize this is a boring as can be, same routine every day. If you dont like patient care, time to move on. |

Hey i'm planning on driving down to sexton dental in a couple of weeks to have upper and lower dentures. I have been reading the comments posted does anyone have any info on the office in mrytle beach? This seems to be the only affordable place but I'm really nervous and I only have enough money to have this done once. If the service is screwed up I can't afford to go somewhere else to have it fixed. ANY ADVICE WOULD HELP!!

I WENT TO SEXTON ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO ME AND MY COUSIN FROM POLK COUNTY, FL. THE NURSES WERE VERY NICE. THE DENTIST IS A DIFFRENT STORY, HE WASNT ABLE TO DO MY TEETH DUE TO FACT OF ME TELLING HIM THAT I DIDNT WANT HIM TO PULL ALL MY TEETH, WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT HE SAID FINE THEN I WONT DO THEM, WHICH WAS FINE WITH ME, BECAUSE I DIDNT LIKE HIS ATTITUDE, MY COUSIN HAD TO GET 1 TEETH PULLED AND A PARTIAL, SHE WAS VERY PLEASED......I WAS THINKING ABOUT GOING BACK, BUT AFTER HEARING ALL THIS STUFF ABOUT THEM HELL NAW I HOPE THEY GOT RID OF HIS ASS OR I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I HOPE NOBODY ELSE EITHER FOR THT MATTER......THATS A DAM SHAME AND THIS WAS THE ONLY PLACE THAT PEOPLE COULD REALLY AFFORD WITH NO INSURANCE .....IF THERE IS ANY ONE OUT THERE THAT HAS ANOTHER CLINIC THAT IS GOOD AND THE SERVICE IS GREAT AND THEY DONT HURT YOU ON PURPOSE PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP.........SIGNED....NEED TEETH :)

I just went there on 2-16-2009 and had 25 teeth pulled and full upper and lower dentures put in that day all for 853.00 dollers if i where to have that work done in florida it would have cost me 4300.00 dollers and thats was with INS. I have not been able to smile for years and truest me its not like any dentist office you have ever been to thay move you throw very quick and the Dr who pulled my teeth was a mean hartless old fart but he did his job and it took him all of 10 min to pull all my teeth , so if your like me and have no money and you cant smile and your willing to do anything to like the way you look agean then go if not pay a Dr 5000 to do a job sextons can do for a few hundred dollers , im very happy with sexton and will tell anyone who will listen to go there ,,.
