Although all 6,000 Morningstar users are warned to boil their water until tests determine the contamination is cleared, only residents of the Anasazi Estates subdivision were individually notified prior to a news report published Thursday.
Anazazi residents were notified on Wednesday evening of the issue. After observing several samples being taken I called the company and asked if there was a problem, the response, You will learn about it in the news!! |

As being a Morning Star User I never heard, got a phone call, or any notice about what was going on. I even called my Uncle that works at XTO they did not find out until Noon on the 9th about the chance of having E Coli in there water as well. No one seems to have been notified. I think there should be Strong action Taken! Our health was and still is an issue that never seemed to matter to Morning Star water! I think we all need to stand strong on this and let our voice be heard.

The sad part is...their customer relations have improved so much since being bought out.
I got a text from one of my friends who read it online!!! Then I called my mother, who drinks about 8 glasses of there crap water everday and lives a few blocks from the actual morningstar building, was never notified either. Had she gotten e coli it probably would have killed her. Wake up morningstar...your customers are human, your product is something that humans need...need to be safe to drink... Eight days of possible exposure sends a chill down my spine. My mother doesn't have long to live...I would appreciate it if the people who are <allowed to be> in control of her water not try to shorten her life further with their insensitive, uncaring, and very unprofessional ways. |

Those of us who have lived in crouch mesa prior to animas valley land and water were hoping when they bought the morningstar business we would get an improved area in which to live. They put a letter out of what they were going to do and the water prices and rent went up. Now after they have been in charge things are showing no improvement. There has been no parks and no improvements to the area as they promised and now we have ecoli in the water and they do not choose to notify us. A couple of months ago my neighbor had sewage leaking out onto the ground for approximately 2 months I kept complaing and was always treated rudely with inquistion about my name. They informed me it would be 5500 to repair the system and this will take time. I told them that animals were drinking the discharge from the septic and was told this is acceptable it will not hurt the animals. My question was what about the children that play with those same animals. Long story short I called the state environmental department and left several messages and in a couple of days after that morningstar water repaired the septic tank. The gentleman who I spoke to called me back on the line I used to contact him and inquired about whom I was. It was like he was going to find out whom I was and stop me. Morning star we your tenants do have rights and you must give us a safe place to live with safe water and septic systems. We do have rights. So glad that the newpaper showed that animas valley did not notify us. Couldnt believe in the paper when they say we were notified. Guess we were supposed to think you guys did the right thing. My question is were are the parks and walk ways and when are you going to begin on them. When will you clean up the business of mechanics and such that work in thier homes and the junk lets not forget the junk. When will we clean all the trash off of properties. In my neighborhood there are persons who have whole beds of thier trucks full of trash and flys and we all live close to the dump. Come on animas valley you raised the rent and the water give us something back or sell us to someone who cares.

we had no idea about the water problem untill yesterday, july 9th, when a neighbor came over and was conserned because she new our 2 month old baby uses formula and we use tap water for it. i am very upset morningstar didn't give us any notice. they are sure fast to let you know when you are late on a payment but they won't let you know when the water could possibly have e-coli. i would love for them to be fined.

what are you willing to do to resolve the problem? i have contacted the environmental department and am waiting a return call. i also called avw and was told they followed protocol by contacting radio and television. the local environmental stated more is required. obviously they [avw] lied . a class action law suit is needed.

dont worry I do believe one is in the works and will be forthcoming

I was very shocked to receive a call from my neighbor bright and early yesterday (7/09) about our water. But I am very thankful I did get that call, because I didn't receive notice of any kind from anywhere else. Let's all not forget to look after one another, even this day in age!

Has anyone who is a paying customer looked into suing this company for it's knowingly neglectful ways? This is pure disregard for the health of it's paying customers and I am not knowledgeable enough about the law, but I can smell class action. My wife has had related stomach ache problems for the past week and a half, now we know why. This jerk company has knowingly put the public at risk and I think it's time someone do something about it.

We only received notification yesterday that we should have been boiling water for the last 9 days! We don't get the paper. I would participate in a class action lawsuit against MorningStar for their negligence. Now we are very nervous about contamination because we have old folks in our home who are very high risk to such infections. |

These people need to be punished, i did not learn that my water was contaminated until yesterday! This whole time i have been drinking water as the rest of my family has. These people were completely inconsiderate and were too worried about scaring people away from their business than making sure others were not getting sick. The companys corruption is what really makes me sick.

I live in the Wildflower area. I didn't even find out about the possible contamination until the 9th. I just happended to look on the internet. When I called to AVW(finally got through on the 4th try) the lady said the warning was mainly for the crouch mesa area but if I wanted to I could boil my water juat as a precautionary? Our neighbors' septic has been leaking into our yard and we have been calling and calling the AVW and they just keep saying it is up to our neighbors to take care of it. Were lucky we don't even let our dogs outside or our 6 year old play outside. Our water pressure is ridiculous, we have a tankless water heater and it needs pressure in order for the water to get hot and we have called so many countless times about that too. We have to turn on the sink faucet and the shower faucet so the water gets hot. These people need to live in our shoes for a day or two, they just look upon us like we're a nuisance and expect their rent and water money on time.

Just remember those who water there gardens with the hose insted of irrigation, your crop MIGHT be contaminated. i'm unaware of any test the common person can do or afford.I'm so sorry I did not post that thread till the next day. after i herd it on the news the night before, or Tue night, but ch 4-13 were very vage, as to who is. they just said San Juan Cty needs to boil.

The boil water order doesnt cover just drinking water! You cant use it for ice, brushing your teeth and doing your dishes. As far as I know showering is ok. pets should not drink the water either unless it is boiled

SANTA FE, N.M.(AP)- New Mexicans have a new Web site to learn about how environmental contaminants might affect their health.
State Health Secretary Alfredo Vigil announced the launch of the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Environmental Public Health Tracking Network on Thursday. The site provides health and environmental information in one place. The Health Department says the network allows scientists, health professionals and the public to track environmental exposures and some noninfectious health conditions. For example, it lets people know about possible health risks from contaminants such as air pollution and the relationship to asthma. The Health Department is developing a similar network specific to New Mexico and expects it to be available in the fall. go to MSNBC home pg., look under local, and the story is there, and you should be able to pull up the CDC web pg from there. Hope it helps. If I broke the rules of Topix i apoligise but this is a health matter and the quicker the better we know what we locals must do. |

So I to believe that there is some action that needs to be taken. My septic tank has had problems for a year and a half and the only thing they have ever done was come and replace the clean outs since they had been broken for over a year just got that done in Feb of 09. They said if I had anymore problems to let them know and they would get a Permit to redo the leach lines since they are very bad on the road I live on. Ok here it is JULY and still nothing they dont return my calls have yet to come by. I have even been leaving them messages with the answering service and yet still no call. I have 4 children and we where all drinking the water never knew anything until the 9th do to a friend calling me to inform me she had seen it on the news. We all need to make a stand since they dont care about our families we need to show we DO!!! LAW SUIT ANYONE????

this is typical morningstar/animas actions. this along with property increases, refusal to honor contracts, faulty septic lines, etc... perhaps its time the residents of morningstar/wildflower unite as a community to address these issues.
|
||||

i think a class action would be appropriate. i personally am not interested in money, but a change in management.
|
||||
