Full story: Lake County Record-Bee

I am one of the lucky people. I have health care through my husband and we are fortunate enough to be able to afford health insurance.

Welcome to the world of rubber numbers.

Even our mathematically challenged President only claims 30 million and 12 million of those should be deported.

If you have a flat tire why take out the engine? That is what you are doing.

We need tort reform to stop the specious lawsuits. Eliminate the state insurance bureaus with all their corruption and payoffs by having a national market and one insurance bureau. Change the actuarial tables to include pre-existing conditions thus spreading the cost and have an assigned risk pool for insurance companies as a cost of doing business. Then, have hearings in Congress, gather data, do analyses and craft legislation in the light of that information. This process could have been started 60 years ago and we may well have had what we wanted by now, but the elected class got in the way. Shoot the bastards it they don't perform.

Big Pharmacy is behind most of this. They, like Big Oil manipulate and control the politics of this issue. National Health care would push this nation over the edge farther into insolvency. Those that have never contributed anything to this issue and society should not be rewarded by free anything. The deadbeats are as bad as the illegal aliens.

Linda:

Please do try to pay attention:

Everyone in America has had the right to see a doctor. I have never seen a patient thrown from the ER or a wounded person left behind by an ambulance because he did not have insurance.

Of the 50 million people you claim to be without health insurance, nearly half are estimated to be illegal aliens. And roughly two thirds of that number are expected to remain without insurance for the next ten years.

Our Congress considers the enormous price tag for this rush to Fascism to be negligible; but they are neither beholden to the Health Care Takeover, nor do they pay taxes. What have they to fear?

Us, as it turns out. And that fear will prove justified after election day when 220 members of Congress with no marketable skills will be forced to compete in an almost non-existent job market.

What we, as a Nation, should be ashamed of is selling our children (and theirs) into taxation slavery in order to pay for a socialist system that rewards the lazy and unworthy (rather than the truly needy) as it continues to punish the responsible.

And I am ashamed, Linda.

California and Texass are the 2 states with tort reform. It has done nothing to end the out of control spiraling costs. In fact, when the hysteria about malpractice has been evaluated factually, it accounts for about 1/2 of 1 percent of the total costs. While California is one of the most expensive states for health care despite tort reform, Texass leads the nation in uninsured and ranks near the bottom in every category. The only thing tort reform accomplishes is that the victims of malpractice are less able to seek justice. Only in a very twisted world like Adrian's is that somehow a good thing. Why does he claim to love America when he clearly hates Americans????

With cutsey, classless, in-bad-taste spelling and logic Lowell Grant has once again taken to his keyboard to tell us who he is and from where he comes philosophically. Yes, California and Texas (note the correct spelling) have tort reform, but they both also have insurance departments with "pay-to-play" bureaus that are corrupt. That is the problem.

We need national tort reform with punitive damages going to the state and not a penny to lawyers, judgments that make the injured whole, new actuarial tables to cover those with pre-existing conditions and assigned risk pools in which insurance companies must participate to be nationally licensed and the free market will resolve most of the issues. We also need regulation of hospital pricing where they are not allowed to charge $30 to $300 for one Aspirin,$3000 a day for a room Motel Six would be embarrassed to ask $40 for and so on. And finally, people who can stick to the issues and get off the party lines when they post. George Bush and Dick Cheney are gone and one who got very rich under them should show a little respect.

You talk about Lowell not being classy and being cutesy? Wow, AV you are in such denial. We are starting health reform and part of that is the internet and access to medicine from around the world. Cancer occurs differently in different parts of the world as does diabetes and other chronic conditions. You are lawsuit crazy and then hate women and anyone with an opposing position, which is the way you VIEW the world. You really want us to respect George Bush for his foreign policy? Cheney's policy because maybe YOU made a killing off of the health care mafia? You are amazing AV. A Christian who only wants to heal white males? Good golly molly! I am MUCH whiter than you would ever be in your dreams but I KNOW that we are all equal. Once you figure out that bombing your neighbor and saying it was Jesus who put you up to it the world might actually accept you as a human. You, AV, are unhealthy. You, AV, cause many of the world's ills with you attitudes and grandiose importance looking down your nose at those that you think are inferior. The world levels out, the pendulum swings and justice has a way of making things equiatable whether you believe it or not. Health care for all is attainable once the money mongers "get over themselves". We DO live fine without polio, and I guarantee there will be pandemics that are not man engineered. It's when you engineer them, like small pox, to destroy the Cherokees, or load up our boys with the swine flu vaccine to send to Iraq where this disease doesn't occur that you are messing with fire. Get a clue AV. We need health care for all and you need to have your head examined. Your portfolio isn't going to keep you alive in the end and as for buying women? You really haven't got enough cash for that. To think that you do? I mean maybe you ought to look at women as complimentary and then you would actually find love. Just a thought. You have every right to live your life with fear, hate and greed as long as its the only thing you know. In the end, and there WILL be an end, you will learn a valuable lesson. God bless you with light and truth, I think you have been living in the dark for a very long time. That just isn't healthy, AV.

Really? I don't post as a woman and pretend to be a man and hate homosexuals, dear. That would be you. Health care? You are a laugh a minute, but it isn't good to be cruel to the mentally ill, so I will work on having more compassion with you. It is apparent that you didn't have a parent. Your life might be better if you had. My apologies. I will try NOT to state the obvious. The truth is a little too truthful for you and confuses you. Then again posting hateful things on blogs is probably your only outlet for being abandoned.

This confirms your outhouse as "electric devices" are common in septic tanks; both pumps and aerators in the more modern systems.

Do you use the Record Bee to wipe? While scratchy it is cheaper than Charmin.

Yes there are many other problems with the health care system that need to be worked out, but it is safe to say that change is finally happening, maybe not perfect change, but certainly beneficial change. It does not matter what President Obama achieves, the republicans will still squeal and whine. As time has told, we must tare down the walls in order to strengthen them.

The electric devices in a septic system are in closed units FOR a septic. No I don't use the Record Bee to wipe and I wonder why you post on their topix and then bash them for having the site. Odd. I worked for the Clearlake Observer American almost forty years ago and that paper really got in and reported the news, but the times have changed and the county has really gone down hill. From a honeymoon destination to a place of corruption and greed. It is a very sad thing for everyone. There was a kinder and gentler time and happier for everyone. Hopefully times will level out and those times at least in part will return.

I don't complain about the Topix web system; they have nothing to do with that. I complain about the paper: It is ridiculous, but has long been run by people who are ridiculous so what can we expect.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a kinder, gentler time. We have a revolution, collapse and dark age to go through that will exceed the lifetime of everyone living today. Count on it. That is the way the world works. Take a lesson from nature. Earth has had at least five complete extinctions of all life and starts over trying the next time to get it right. This was but another experiment that failed. Waiting for the rock from space in California, Adrian

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Taurus

Keep calm! Your emotions are becoming increasingly heightened and intense today. As a result, you're likely to take things much more seriously than usual. That's wonderful if you're involved in a hot and heavy encounter with Mr or Ms Right, but it won't be such good news if you go overboard about silly trifles. If you're doing some last-minute shopping you'll want to be as extravagant as your budget allows. Or is it a case of Budget...? What budget?
