This may be of interest to some ...

Forunately or unfortunately, I see several doctors in addition to my primary care physician. All are specialists eminently qualified in their respective fields.

I have now had an opportunity to discuss government health care/ Obama care with each one of them. The last of mys pecialists whom I saw I saw this very morning.

WITHOUT EXCEPTION they admanantly oppose Obama Care or any government health option/ "the public option". They are extremely upset about it. The doctor I saw this AM assures me that he will retire ,if and when, government run health care takes effect. He figures even if they pass something today it will take a few years to be put into place. He will continue to practice in the interim and has advised his family that he will quit working if govt run health care becomes reality.

I asked him why the AMA was endorsing Obama Care when NOT ONE of the doctors that I personally know (including my own father) is for govt run health care. He said that the AMA does not speak for him and that he quit belonging to that organization long ago. He said that relatively few doctors actually belonged to the AMA in terms of percentages. He said they had become a hollow mouth piece and a bunch of whore dog lobbyists with a different agenda than to serve working physicians.

This brought to 100% across the board, the number of my own treating physicians who oppose govt intrusion into health care.

I realize that my poll is less than scientific but I believe that it is representative of the general sentiment prevailing in the medical community- at least im my area. Each one of these folks is considered the "tops" in my area of FL. They have all been in practice for a minimum of twenty years.

I find this very interesting that the govt and Obama are telling me one thing and my doctors are telling me quite another.(I trust my doctors.)

Any doctor that thinks the current health care system we have is wonderful must be taking more than his share of the happy meds he prescribes. These all knowing doctors must just love the insurance companies that they have to deal with. All my doctors recognize that changes must be made to the current system to assure that business and consumers can afford the health programs they get. Your conservative answers are all insurance company oriented.
You had power the last 8 years and did nothing.

Obama will certainly get some changes passed that will begin to make our health care system more favorable for those that receive care (employers too).

Have you actually seen a doctor lately? Or are you just stating your own views?

I ask this in all sincerity since I have yet to encounter a doctor, in real life, that feels as you suggest they ought. I have seen talking heads on TV that favor it. Not in person.

I have my own views and they are fiscally conservative. However, I asked my doctors for their own views. One of my doctors actually had on display a lot of literature and books she had purchased concerning the govt health care / public option debacle. They were in each of her exam rooms. She also had reprints of various articles decrying the proposed changes in all her exam rooms.

Do you see a doctor in the private sector? Or, are you on medicaid or other subsidized program? Why do you think that health care would be enhanced by govt involvement? What changes do you most eagerly anticipate? Rationing? Fines for failure to purchase insurance? Taxes on your insurance benefits if the govt deems them too good?

My doctors, all of them, are specialists in practice for themselves and all are recogized as tops in the Orlando MSA. Funny your doctors like the idea. Or is it that YOU like the idea of govt health care?

You conservatives are amazing. You refuse to see anything right about our proposed new GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE. Anything run by the govt. is horrible, according to you. How about our military that you proudly claim as your own? Gee it's run by the govt. of the US. How about Medicare? Everyone on it loves it. It too is run by the govt. of the US.

In terms of our US military, I'm sure you are proud of the long military service of Dick Cheney, Rush Limbrain, Parrot Hanitty, and Brain dead patriot Beck. NOT. None of your beloved spokesmen ever served. I did. Cheney was too busy with school and his three deferments. Limbrain had a persistent boil on his butt. The two others ran like rats from the military recruiters. Beck was to busy mourning the suicide deaths of his mother and brother.

The conservative values of a strong military, hard work and self reliance are fine with me. However you took the politcal power you had and ruined your image. That's why you were thrown out in the 2008 election. You started unnecessay war, you failed to regulate Wall Street and the Banks, and you allowed the rich to become more so, while the middle class lost most of their retirement.

How can you now think you have the right to criticize what Washington is trying to do in cleaning up your mess? Just go away in shame.

Yeah....Damn fine job our military did the other day when that known Islamic terrorist took out so many of his fellow soldiers. Politically correct BS. I for one am sick of the liberal tree hugging crap that is sinking out country like a brick in quick sand. There are currently 3,500 Muslims in our military. Have they been vetted? Was Hasan vetted? Witnesses have come forth that say there had been many complaints about him and his terrorist leanings. Why was nothing done? I am afraid that I know. Are we not at war with Islamic Jihadists? Washington is making the mess. From Fannie and Freddie to spending more money in the first 9 mo. of office then all other US Presidents combined. Go peddle your Liberally twisted BS some where else...Americans do not want to pay for abortions or for Heath Care for illegals. Nor is it in the Constitution that any citizen should have to pay fines or go to jail for not having the Gov't Health Care plan. Let's see now....3,500 unvetted Muslims in the military....if they all should pull the same stunt that Hasan pulled there would be 108,500 new graves being dug today. I for one am sick of traitors be they foreign or domestic. You probably think that it is ok to spend another trillion or two on this ridiculous bill. YOur guy will just get soeone to print up some more money. Socialism is not for America.

Here is a fact:

Medicare is a mess. Please do some research before you indelibly brand yourself as completely ignorant. It would not require much of your time. You can do it ( ie become informed and aware) right from where you sit. Medicare is poorly run, shoddily administered, fraught with waste and abuse, riddled with criminal activity, and last but not least- it is bankrupt. It is collapsing in upon itself. It is also causing qualified people who might otherwise elect to become doctors to consider other professions. Medical professionals disdain it and they laugh about it. Talk about red tape and paperwork. Talk about inefficiency. Talk about poor benefits. If MEDICARE is your model government program you, quite simply and quite clearly, DO NOT UNDERSTAND much about medicare.

What people like you tend to like about medicare is that they see it as FREE. Which it is not.

Are you aware of how many doctors now simply refuse to accept medicare assignment? They won't even file it for you. YOU have to do it. They are sick and tired of the mess. The doctors have gone to a system where they treat you, you pay them yourself directly, and then YOU deal with the govt to get your money back. They wised up a long time ago.

Please, before you open your moth in this way again, please do some research.

People love anything they think of as "FREE". That is the key to the love of medicare.(This was the key to the Obama election, BTW.)Yet, it is broke. Completely broke. If you ran your household the way the govt runs medicare you would be on the street and homeless.

Ask your doctor next time you see him/her what he REALLY thinks of medicare. Maybe you don't care very much what the guy who is treating you thinks of working for a master he doesn't like very much.

I don't think Medicare is free. I paid mandatory contributions into it for 43 years from it's inception in 1965 to July of 2008 when I hit 65 and became eligible for benefits. Accordingly, for millions of people like me, it's the only practicable game in town, unless they want to pay all my 43 year's worth of contributions with compound interest back to me. That option would be acceptable to me in a New York second. As always, I enjoy your well-written posts, BAH

You are a moron. Are we suppose to have a private army? After 9/11 should we have done nothing? Should we have let Iraq stay in Kuwait? Carter couldn't even get the hostages out of Tehran. Terrible military mishap in the desert. Clinton had chances to get Bin Laden but was too busy getting his weenie Lowinskied. Yes we conservatives are amazing. Only 3 more years and this lame duck experiment nut job will be run out of office. So how about sticking ACORN up your fat ARSE!

Thanks, Lewis. It is a pleasure to hear from you again. And, your rejoinder is one that I anticipated from those who have LONG paid into the system. It is similar to the rude awakening some of us "younger" taxpayers fear may occur with Social Security. Paying into that system against our wills for decades only to perhaps receive little or nothing in return. It is indeed, as you point out, a catch 22. You paid in all these year, as did I, and many others. Now, what can we reasonably expect in return? This is an open question with an answer that can not be readily ascertained.

One thing is certain. The current level of medicare benefit CAN NOT be and is not sustainable. Reductions in benfit levels is one solution. Increases in premiums is another. There are many others being bandied about.

Folks who did not pay into medicare will have no entitlement to MEDICARE benefits of any kind. That is a given. There are other govt programs ie "entitlement" programs for these folks. Tax payers like you make these entitlement programs possible.

My husband recently turned 65. The "major relief" I anticipated when he reached medicare age has not materialized. Between his various medicare premiums and his supplemental coverage the savings is not all that significant. Medicare coverage, without a supplement, is not great coverage.

We know that in our society medicare (and the senior voting block)is sacrosanct. It will be interesting to see what Peter is robbed to pay Paul going forward. No promises as to the safe keeping or investment of funds paid into the Soc Sec or medicare systems have ever been kept- by either party. Demographics have assisted in a lot of hocus pocus in the past. The fact that we aging baby boomers will vastly outnumber wage earners going forward is problematic. Changes will be necessary and changes will be made. From an economic standpoint, they must be made. They will not be popular among affected senior citizens in my opinion.

My major point is that my informal polling reveals that doctors do not support govt control of health care. 65-70 percent of doctors do not belong to the AMA. Thus, I conclude that doctors do not, in general, support the AMA b/c they perceive that it does not serve their best interests. I further conclude that the news that the AMA supports Obama care is not very significant. The AMA is as helpful as the AARP has been. Not very. Good doctors in my area don't want government control of health care and they do not favor a public option.

Bah, is it possible that Doc.'s don't agree cause they won't be able to charge an arm and leg for a 15 min. visit ? Just wondering, cause I just paid a lot ( 135.00 ) for 15 min's. and really didn't diganose(sp) crap for me.. Hospital run was where I had to go. Which again cost me a couple thousand.. Out of pocket.. This is killing us and taking all our hard earned savings.. We are self employed, self pay and now self broke..!!
Thank Goodness B has VA.. He's surgery cost 75.00... That's a health care program. I could pay 168.00 a month payment's to the gov. if it will cover pre-exsisiting and med's.. Who wouldn't..? They estimate the cost to be 8,000.00 a year for a family of 4.. Wouldn't that meant 2,000.00 a year for me ? Trying to understand.. Illegals and abortions have and should not be part of any of this.. That I do agree with..:)

Good afternoon all! At this point, I am not sure who/what conservative/liberal definitions would turn out to represent. Seems to me that they are all run together in some instances. I thought I was one thing now I am not sure what I am to call my thinking! Is anyone else confused? Or am I the only one brave enought to admit the confusion I feel??? The current thinking in D.C. is "follow the leader" and don't dare make any comments??? In my day, we made up our own minds about our beliefs and didn't care what others thought. AND voted that way. Then if you didn't like the results you only had yourself to blame! Can any one tell I am hacked???? Have a blessed day all! Yes, I am a Christian and a proud one as well as a proud American.

Good Afternoon everyone,,,, Just dropped by to see how things are going. To me it doesnt matter who's in the White House, they are going to do whatever they want. It doesnt matter which party. As far as medicare my husband as been on it for 14 years he was involved in an accident in a dept store and was deemed disable. He also has BCBS from his pension plan. I'm only on BCBS not old enough for medicare. We have no complaints for we only have a $300.00 deductible yearly. Today he had his last FNA done. While there I asked the doctor about the health care bill. He said and I quote "Like all bills theres good and bad. The good thing is most doctors won't be able to line their pockets with "Big Money from THE DRUG Companies. The only negative thing is Trail and Error, but we have to do something. Things cant stay as they are."
I used to work for six doctors. I saw how they operated. The Sales Reps. would come in with all the new drug samples and sure enough thats what the doctors would start prescribing. We had an older black gentelman I will never forget him, his name was MR. McGowen. He had lung cancer and didnt have long to live. The doctor prescriped him one of the new meds only because he The Doctor would make a profit. Well Mr. McGowen couldnt afford it. I gave him the money for the script. I had a very heated talk with the doctor. The next month Mr.McGowen got his old script back ") I'm not sayin all doctors are like that but theirs quiet a few. Theirs pros and cons to everything. Just live for today.
Mya")
I refuse to get stressed over something I have no control of and quiet frankly neither do any of you all. ")
