Schumer: Premium hikes shows reform is needed

"Senator Chuck Schumer says the big rise in health insurance premiums in recent years is one reason the country needs health care reform". The reason why premiums are going up and up and up is because the great State of NY increased the surcharges or tax on medical claims….what people do not realized is that back in 1997 HCRA or the Health Care Reformed Act was reformed to tax medical claims….NY basically taxes your health payments…. the surcharge was increased this year and it was done after the State budget was passed after April 1st which forced health carriers to increase their premiums after Jan 1st….premiums are high because in NY there are mandates the insurance carriers need to follow….just like your property taxes….so its tax ….tax…..tax ….in New York...everyone thinks that a national health insurance is the answer and it very well may be ...but lets not let our Politicans decide what it should be...they are not doctors...they are Politicians that got us in this mess to begin with....we are in big trouble....

"Critics say the government would do no better running an insurance company than the private sector". and besides the Health Carriers in NY State are heavily regulated by the NY Dept of Health so government already runs what goes on as far as what health carrier’s can do and can not do …again Government does not need to be involved in our medical lives….do we realize the bureaucratic red tape that government will create if it gets involved in our health ….image calling customer service and no one answers the phone if you have a question concerning a health question…..give me a break !!!

Has anyone looked into WHAT factors are causing a rise in premiums? We don't need Government-run Health care, we(THEY) need to reduce baseless lawsuits and get fraud under control. Health care is just fine.
