What a great idea. It is high time for some one in public office to know and understand the uncomfort second hand smoke imposses on the inocent by-stander. Banning smoking from both work and public places can only create a safer and healther enviourment for all.

Thank you Joe!! The average time a person sets in a public place and eats is a est of 30 minutes. If I person can't wait that long before lighting up it is time they get some much needed help. Smoke before you get in the building or wait tell you get outside. Not everyone wants to share you second hand smoke.
Well put Joe, THANKS

wow ---now thats rich---check it---i smoke--and if you don't fine---but i have the right to smoke---i'm over 21 yrs old ---i make my own decisions--its my right to smoke a cigarette if i want--they have taken soking out of most resturants from planes from fay. and yet you still want more taken from those that do smoke--i read a study on second hand smoke on the enternet and its crap---it says something is bad in one sentence and then a few paragraphs later it says its not going to hurt you---its like you non-smokers think you are better than me just because i smoke---thats the message you give no matter how you put it---ooooooo its second hand smoke -------ooooooooooooo can breath there is to much smoke---heres an idea --the next time you think we as smokers need to go outside to smoke--you take a trip outside when its cold and stand there freezing---see how you like it.

ok shorty I will agree with you on this..preach on...I am really tired of the government forcing their morals on everyone...it should be left up to the owner of the property it is their business and my money and where I spend it is my business...and stop trying to tax me out of existance

I do not smoke. In fact, I can't stand it! I wish no one smoked. Regardless of my personal preference, I don't want the government telling business owners what they can & can't allow. Smoking is still legal last time I checked. The government wants to tell people they shouldn't smoke in public, but they won't make smoking illegal, because they make so much money from tobacco taxes. Sounds a little hypocritical to me.

Shorty as I suggested in my note earlier above, if you can't wait just few minutes after you eat to light up, maybe you need some help. Don't care where you stand when you smoke, just don't stand next to me.Just becuase you like the smell of smoke don't think I do, or is it just all about you? That second hand smoke screen your putting up that you saying is crap. Well I have a friend who just found out he has lung cancer and his wife smoked in their home of the past 20 years. So don't give me that no proof crap.BTW she is already dead from lung cancer.

and thats the point 20 years in the same room sure I can concede that as second hand smoke related cancer; however, my puff in a restaurant ain't gonna kill ya. I go to a restaurant or a bar to enjoy myself and smoking is a pleasure to me and not illegal "YET". I have respect for the non smoker I don't light up in a restricted area, I always lower the window in the car, never in someone elses house unless invited to, but if I am sitting there enjoyed my liberty to do so and you walk up and do the non-smoker cough hint at me...kiss my butt! We are tired of being pushed to the side. I too give you my support in this matter. We may not see eye to eye on everything but that is our liberty to do so..ya'll gonna take that away from us too?

Hey I have allergies. Do I pitch a fit when someone sits by me with perfume or cologne that has the same odor of mosquito spray and causes my nose to shut down...NOPE..think about this people when the government sells us a new restriction under the "public health" cover that is another something that is taken from everyone..where will it end? An untied shoelace is a hazard someone might trip and fall so outlaw shoelaces right.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has classified secondhand smoke as a Group A carcinogen, which means that there is sufficient evidence that it causes cancer in humans. Environmental tobacco smoke has also been classified as a "known human carcinogen" by the US National Toxicology Program.

Secondhand tobacco smoke contains over 4,000 chemical compounds. More than 60 of these are known or suspected to cause cancer.
Secondhand smoke can be harmful in many ways. In the United States alone, each year it is responsible for:
An estimated 35,000 to 40,000 deaths from heart disease in people who are not current smokers
About 3,000 lung cancer deaths in nonsmoking adults

More great news!!

On Monday, Gov. Bill Owens signed legislation making Colorado the 13th state to enact a statewide smoking ban. The law takes effect July 1.
