gdogshit, you and shc are both puppets of the obama care scam. You bow to pelosi and barry, and you spout their lies.

lower rates of domestic violence. Dont know where you pulled that from.

stress-caused diseases & cancer. You visit the (health pannel) wink wink.

no lawsuits for medical liability. Sorry you cant sue the Feds.

MUCH lower employer insurance. Not affected by this bill.

and not one of their citizens can go bankrupt due to an illness or injury. Because to go bankrupt you have to have personal property.

If its so great move there. Your arguments are not valid.

Wow, you've blown me away with your fact-based arguments and alternative recommendations. I shall no longer attempt to think for myself and accept I am simply a stooge. I hope you will do the same.

It will add trillions to our national deficit & eventually will place the entire health care system under government control.
The federal government has totally botched the flu vaccine delivery this year. Severe shortages in not just the Swine Flu vaccine, but now the regular flu vaccine as well.
Yet the nincompoops on the left want it to take over 17% of the entire economy?
Ask your grandmother how she would feel if you got your way and took her government-run Medicare away from her.

I totally agree that some kind of change needs to occur in Health Care...but not this. I am tired of paying for everyone else! Why isn't there anything in this bill relating to mal-practice awards etc. Why am I going to be fined if I don't agree to buy insurance? Why didn't they put anything in this bill to allow for out of state insurance deals???
Next we'll be paying for the cap and trade, the 2nd stimulus and some other great ideas that this administration has come up with. How about jobs???
We have sunk to a new low. I am a democrate, but I am ahamed of what this party has become!

There was a wonderful program on the History Channel the other night that ALL repubicans should have been forced to watch.

Seems there is a thriving new business of providing "off-shore" medical treatment for people that the insurance industry "death-panels" have denied their members.

Get that, INSURANCE COMPANIES have DEATH PANALS!

If you're rich and the death panels deny you care you can afford to be treated here in the U.S. after being denied treatment by your insurance company.

If you're poor and are denied treatment, you're only options are to seek treatment overseas or die.

Kind of strange that the repubicans are screaming about phantom government "death panels" butt they support the insurance companies "death-panels".

WOW........

So how many of the folks ranting in are actually receiving government paid health care right now? Half of Americans already receive government paid health care. The other half cannot have a preexisting condition and are subject to being dropped if they get sick and then face bankruptcy as a result. What sense does this make? Why is this worth the vitriolic defense of the status quo I see here? The hypocrisy, and lack of understanding about the profit-motives of the private health insurance industry is astounding. I am a 40 year old small business owner working 60+ hours a week and do not have, nor can I afford, any health insurance. As a vet, I could "get mine" through the VA but I don't. I try to live a healthy lifestyle (no sodas, burgers, other corn-syrup based "food-like products"). Why do people in this country have to suffer the least efficient and most expensive health care system in the world. Pretty much anything is better than the status quo people, unless you want to completely bankrupt the country and let millions of people continue to suffer so that health care insurance companies can make fat profits.
Th US doesn't have the least efficient medical program. If we did, we would not have people come to our country on a daily basis to get the medical care they need. We would not have so many exchange students attending our universities to receive medical training...get it right and truthful. I agree there needs to be a change, but not like this!!! I hate to think about my children having to pay for the mistakes that have already been made, now this? I grew up in a time where America was great and strong...Now I feel like we are a nation of whiners who want everything for nothing!

GREAT Points Middle... This is the one fact these WINGERS Can't clarify.

Please by all means give me a reason why they would support A corporation to decide if grandma dies, but a government body with Oversight and scrutiny they think is evil!

Again I re affirm my belief that what the real issue is here is the Unpatriotic Nature of these folks. Making cowardly statements like "Obama the Nazi" and "America... The Death Panel Government" or Liberals are Communists etc...! Fricken Embarrassing that Americans like this exist to be honest!

Finally, It is with serious consideration and thoughtfulness that I am willing to Do my Part and Pay my Dues to make sure I don’t have to hear stories about "ANY" Fellow American being denied Medicine because it will cost other fellow Americans to much money! That (my Dying opposition to this) is frankly "UNAMERICAN"

You are right--I exaggerated. I apologize. You might agree that we have AMONG the least efficient, even while we have cutting edge medicine that offers the best treatments available for those with the money to pay for it. It's a conundrum, trying to have the best of all worlds. I still believe in the people of this country to figure out how we might get there responsibly and fairly.

The gov't. can't get people to buy auto insurance as required by law. Want to see the CF they make of trying to blackjack everyone to buy health insurance? Here comes "swine flu vaccine" screwup only a 100x worse. The government, especially, liberal governments, are nothing but dictators in not so subtle disguise.

So the Right wing Pro Life, No Marrying someone you love and Go To Church agenda isn’t a dictatorship? Seems to me the Liberals you speak of fight for these rights to be protected. I think we as a society can find a better solution to unwanted pregnancies, I as an American think folks who love each other no matter if they are Gay/lesbian should have the right to build a legally protected life together "WHO AM I TO QUESTION Either of THEM"? Your Right Wing Government thinks they can!

And I as an American was raised in the Catholic Faith... That faith is my choice and I don’t think the Born Again agenda has the right to force it upon everyone else. Bush jr. was one of those Wild Child Born agains and he tried to force it down our throats to no resistance from the right! Not to mention he forced his Halliburton agenda on us all!

I guess the 1 trillion Bush spent on Halliburton is ok but the 1 trillion Obama wants to spend on Healthcare and Americans is just UNACCEPTABLE! Fricken Laughable!

Even Elmer Fudd is smarter then this!

The headlines in the newspapers I have read today, not unlike the Times Standard's headlines, are editorializing.

It is a blatant fact the purveyors of news are dangerously slanted to one side of the political spectrum.

The totalitarian existence of the Soviet Union and the complcity of PRAVDA to mask the truth of the Soviet Empitre's evil is not far away.

In fact, it is very close to home.

Mike Thompson (D-CA), once a man who won votes from both sides of the aisle, now and in recent years he has shown himself to be a partisan tool. He was going to vote for this bill in the very beginning, before the Recess when they were trying to ram it through. Before anyone, including himself, had read it, before anyone knew what was in it. Before the Tea Parties, before the "nasty" Town Hall meetings, before the people started asking questions and before the people told him what they thought.
He would have voted for it no matter what was in it - and he has now done just that.
There is no reason for us to pay for Congressmen and Senators like him to fly to Washington and maintain an office there. We know how he will vote. He does not need to be present or to attend any meetings or read any legislation. It is all dictated for him. We can fill in the blank for his vote while he sits on a street corner begging for change.
Gone are the days when Congressmen were Statesmen.
There is an election coming. Register to vote if you haven't. VOTE even if you have been slacking. Make this one count.
Rose,

The beginning of the end in Humboldt County began when the balanced tipped between givers and takers. The givers, small businesses and industry have been over-run by the takers, government.

It is not surprising to see the pejorative comments by the liberal left.

We're done.

I'm just wondering if the people on the left, who complain about us "greedy" folks trying to hang on to our money, ever paid for medical treatment for a stranger out of kindness, or did they just wait for the government to take from the "rich" while they just sat by? As Margaret Thatcher once said -- the problem with socialism is that "other people" soon run out of money. It seems that being a deadbeat in America isn't what it used to be. I wrote to Mike Thompson to ask him if he actually read the entire bill before voting, and why didn't he put it on the internet in time for his constituents to read it. I wonder if he's in the habit of voting on bills he hasn't read. Sorry, Mike, but I'm spending the next year working on your defeat. Humboldt County has few enough doctors, but when this takes hold -- I wonder if Mike Thompson will personally drive me down to San Fran to see a doctor.

I guess you supposed greedy folks don’t understand that when you get your paycheck the Employer already pays for your unemployment and workman comp. The reason I want to have universal healthcare is that Employers pay for workman comp and it isn’t cheap... in addition it only covers the employee for when they are on the job. If Universal health care is enacted, then this money will go to health insurance that covers them when they are away. 24 hrs a day!

I assume you don’t employ anyone but if you do then you understand!

Your Paycheck wont change much, but I guess the New Americans on the right covet Greed before the greater health of the country!

This Democrat thinks when our country is at its best and we the people are strong we are unstoppable. The Right wingers have systematically taken this country apart… This started when Reagan Fooled you into spending 6 trillion dollars for his corporate friends and then when G “W” Bush spent an additional 5 trillion on Halliburton and friends!

You all voted him in and now your concerned with a measly 1 trillion for we the people? Truly unpatriotic!

Do you not think this new bill will have death panels? It wont be just denial of treatment either. It will be nice and welcoming counseling. Friendly persuasion to accept your fate. Or if you are in pain how about a nice assisted suicide? Hospice is now in this mode. So is planed parenthood.

My guess is YOU WONT!!!! You have already elected them and supported their agenda! Now you want Obamas Head on a platter for it!

DONT even start Middle of the DREAM.... So I ask you one question... don’t spin just answer!!

Your Grandma is in the hospital with a terminal prognosis, And your family is in the waiting room, Will you let Big Gov decide her fate or will you and your family decide it?

I know that when my grandma is in that situation, My Family will decide this, and we will make the final decisions!

You all are like scared little chicken over this bud, Maybe you should straighten your spine a bit and stand up for your family when needed!

I am sad for your grandma!

This farce of a bill will also make Alternative medicine illegal. I'm not talking about substandard vitamins here, but the real deal from home remedies to naturopathy, chiropractic, herbalism, traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, meditation, yoga, biofeedback, hypnosis, homeopathy, acupuncture, and diet-based therapies, in addition to a range of other practices. Granted some of these are questionable but some are truly valid. What do you liberal hipster think of Barry now?

Mary Anne,

Your "facts" are a little fornicated-up. I'm paying for "your" war, I'm paying for "your" highways, I'm paying for "your' law enforcement; I’m paying for “your” fire protection, fact is YOU and the rest of "your" repubican friends love it when "I" pay for "your" socialism so I find it quite disconcerting when "you" don't want to pay for public services that I want.

You and “your” kind have had over 50 years to fix the problem so either so me something better or shut up!

Don't like democracy, go to a country where you can live under a dictator.....
