""Approximately half the people who have died from this H1N1 infection have been previously healthy people," Fukuda said, adding that this was "one of the observations which has given us the most concern.""----- and yet every time the media reports a death, they claim the person had "preexisting medical conditions". I don't trust the reporting of the swine flu anymore. I think it is much worse than what is being reported.

I drive a passenger vehicle and sick people always sit behind the driver, they should have masks on commercial vehicles for sick people to where.I remember 1 person showed me the scars from flesh eating desease he had. I think there are people out there who would give everyone swine flu in a heartbeat. the guy who shot up the holocaust mus. in washington is only the tip of iceberg on the sickos out there. the me generation will not go down without taking people with them.

Thousands of people die every year from the flu. This swine flu has been around a long time. Calmdown people, there is no pandemic happening.

Wait a minute; out of nearly 7 billion people on earth, only about 27,000 cases of suspected swine flu is a pandemic? Why not classify the common cold as a pandemic -- far more cases, and probably just as many deaths attributable.

All "pandemic" means is that the flu is widespread, it doesn't mean that people are dying by the thousands. I'm not saying the H1N1 flu isn't serious but it seems to me that the media is trying to make this a much bigger problem than it is. If we keep getting the "chicken little" approach from the media and government, when something deadly really DOES strike, people won't be paying attention.

Strange that it is still spreading during warm months and half the people who died are young and healthy. Very similar to the 1918 flu. I'm still not going to worry about it unless it mutates.

The way I'm thinking of it, things were a LOT different in 1918; sanitation wasn't as good, communication wasn't as good, not as much decent health care, etc. I guess if there'd be some really weird mutation of the virus this this flu could be really bad, but other than the normal precautions we should all take during flu season, I'm not obsessing over it.

Doesn't a virus usually mutate after a vaccine or antibiotics are made to stop it? That's what would cause it to mutate the way I understand it. So not to worry, that would take a while. If I'm wrong, anyone with a science background please correct me. In the meantime, take reasonable precautions and enjoy life. jmho

Oh my msm is just feeling that warm tingle up their collective leg over the “P” word! Pandemic! The sky is falling! They finally got what they wanted! They have been salivating for WHO to use the “P” word for so long now.

OK, a pandemic simply means something is/has spread over a large geographic area instead of staying localized. With air travel the common cold is actually be labeled a “Pandemic.” However the msm seems to be titillated by the word, and will use it in every way possible to frighten the sheeple that let the media do their thinking for them. It sells papers, boosts ratings.

How about the big scary numbers from the article;
“On Wednesday, WHO said 74 countries had reported nearly 27,737 cases of swine flu, including 141 deaths. The agency has stressed that most cases have been mild and required no treatment…” We’ll average this out in a minute, but the money quote after the facts (if one can believe the msm will actually provide FACTS) is the scare tactic to keep the sheeple on the edge of their seats…“…but the fear is that a rash of new infections could overwhelm hospitals and health authorities — especially in poorer countries.” OH! Sounds so frightening I’m going to lock myself away in a big plastic hamster bubble!

If we average the facts from the first part of the statement it tells us that H1N1 has produced and average of 375 cases PER country, and of those cases, the fatality rate is 2.7 people per country. When you break it down, doesn’t sound nearly as “End of the world, kiss your a)ss goodbye” as the msm wants you to think.

Is H1N1 real? Of course. Is it a pandemic? Semantically, yes. Is it the end of the world? NOPE! Unfortunately, more people will probably die in car accidents today in the US than this flu has killed so far.

Wash or sanitize your hands frequently, keep your fingers OUT of your nose, eyes or mouth, and you should do just fine. Use your brain logically, don’t let the msm think FOR you.

Actually this is a new virus.

There have been other swine flu viruses in the past, but this is a new virus.

And it is a pandemic...

It is a new virus. It causes severe disease in people, and it has spread over wide areas. This is the definition of a pandemic.

Colds don't meet the criteria of a pandemic. They don't cause severe disease - flu viruses do.

Cold symptoms: sneezing, runny nose, mild cough, no fever.

Flu symptoms: fever-usually high, muscle aches, headache, cough, sore throat, severe fatigue, red & watery eyes, pain around eyes.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Scorpio

Don't let yourself be caught up in a crowd mentality. Just because someone else makes a major production out of what should be a simple matter, doesn't necessarily mean that it has to affect you adversely. You might be able to bring down the volume with a tap on the shoulder and a meaningful look. Even though it might not seem like it, your cool head is definitely appreciated at times like this.
