my parents were never married. yes I was born out of wedlock. If anything I think it made me a better person. I am married with 2 kids of my own. Was married almost 3 years before I had my first child. To the person calling us "bastard" I guarantee if u have got that much sin in your life to make a judgement saying we will all go to HELL that will come back and bite u so hard on the butt U wont know what happened. The only thing is I pray that U remember what U have typed and put on TOPIX and anywhere else U have said it.

It would be great if all teen girls (and guys too for that matter) realized the benefits of being sexFREE when they're in middle and high school, but that hasn't happened yet. Until it does, all teens who decide to have sex anyway need to know all the medically reliable methods of contraception that PREVENT unwanted pregnancy. Even if no method is 100% guaranteed to prevent pregnancy from happening, using some form(s) of protection is ALWAYS better than not using any at all.

Also prengcy is alot more dangerus then abortions, more kids are abuse and murder by their OWN MOTHERS because they were force/pressure to not get an abortion or adoption when they want to in the first place and/or mental and emontionlay ill. Like it's NOT abusive when a mother forces her daughter to get an abortion she doesn't want?

Personally, based on my individual experience, I know that life tends to be much easier for teen girls who are NOT teen moms. Why? Because they aren't overwhelmed with adult responsibilities before she's even completed high school, that's why. Thankfully, I chose to avoid sexual activity as a teenager, so I didn't end up pregnant. Because I DIDN'T get pregnant and become a teen mom, I was able to complete all my classes, assignments, and tests as a high school student. I enjoyed all my summers between school years, doing pretty much whatever I wanted. I never had to worry about paying for diapers and formula. It's wonderful how much freedom a teen girl has when she ISN'T pregnant. Girls need to think very carefully about all they risk losing by having sex and possibly getting pregnant. They need to think about it BEFORE having sex for the first time, not afterward. If they only think of it afterward, it may already be too late. After graduating high school and having a two-month summer vacation, I began a vocational program in September and successfully completed it nine months later. A few weeks after that, I accepted a job offer in a great city, and things just got better from there. Working at my job gave me chances to earn a good full-time salary with benefits, take classes to learn more job skills -- at company expense -- and advance to jobs with higher salaries. NONE of that would have been possible if I had gotten pregnant at 16 and become a teen mom. Having a baby would have made even doing homework and studying for tests in high school very difficult, if not impossible. I might even have had to drop out of school, as some teen girls have done, and wouldn't have gotten my high school diploma. It wouldn't have been possible for me to go to vocational school or work full-time at a top company either. For me to accomplish all that I had wanted and planned for myself, it required me to be a FREE TEEN rather than a teen mom. Girls can do so much when they are encouraged by parents and community to pursue their educations including college or vocational school and then get good jobs and careers. I was very fortunate to have parents and a community that did encourage education and career for me and other girls rather than the "traditional" paths of marriage/motherhood and not much else. It is much easier for girls to have opportunities for a good education, good employment, and economic independence when they don't get pregnant and become mothers too soon.

If teen pregnancy is skyrocketing then simply abort the babies and make taxpayers pay for it....i dont see a problem. We could call it "exercising" our "choice"... Thats what women do isnt it?

I got pregnant when I was 17 and im doing just fine. My daughter is well taken care of and my fiance is in the mines. So not all teens pregancy's are bad. Think twice before running your mouth on all young parents.

Think twice before running your mouth on all young parents. Well, that is YOUR opinion, but you will never convince me that teen pregnancy/motherhood is a good thing. I see far more negatives than positives associated with teen pregnancy to support it, so I don't. I'll continue to express my view that teen sex is a BAD IDEA, as is teen pregnancy/motherhood. If you and other teen moms have problems with my saying that, too bad.

I hope more teen girls avoid the TRAP of teen pregnancy/motherhood by avoiding sexual activity with immature guys, or if they can't, be smart enough to use reliable contraception to reduce the risk of unwanted pregnancy as much as possible. It's wonderful how much freedom a teen girl has when she ISN'T pregnant. More girls keeping their freedom to BE teenagers, I'm all for that.

Like her not getting pregnant as a teenager somehow made the world a better place. From her arrogant testimony you'd think that she believes she did somehow. Maybe she'd like to share the cure for cancer that found, all due to her not having sex as a teenager. XD I suspect that virtue and determination played no part in her abstinence; it was more likely that she was buttughly.

It certainly made MY world a better place, since I WASN'T stuck with the hardships of motherhood before I had even graduated high school. You can imply I was ugly all you want if that is what makes you feel better. From all I have read and seen of the miseries teen girls who become moms have to endure, especially the losses of their freedom, their sleep, and their money, I still say there's NOTHING good about getting pregnant as a teenager. And I'm very glad that I DIDN'T. I hope more teen girls will make it a priority to KEEP their freedom to be teenagers by avoiding all forms of sexual activity while in high school. Once teen girls lose that freedom by getting pregnant, it will be a very long time before they get it back again.

While I believe it is unrealistic to expect teens to be abstinent, I think we should be trying harder to give them the knowledge and tools they need to avoid pregnancy.
