I think all good liberal Democrat homeowners, renters and condo owners who agree with the esteemed Mayor should post, "THIS IS A GUN-FREE HOME," signs in their front windows.
I will help provide them along with the Democratic Party organizations of Evanston, Chicago and Oak Park. I'm sure this will assuage the feelings of moral superiority amongst those wonderful leftist Democrat property owners. And -- no way -- will marauders target those homes. Right? Progressive, neo-Leninists? I will provide the signs for you. What are you waiting for? And if you don't agree to it, maybe we should just stick them up on your lawns. Would just be apprising the larger community of your views, right? |

I believe the federal government needs to do something here. We have a man in power who is openly stating he plans on taking action to somehow defy a supreme court ruling and impede or deny several million U.S. citizens of their constitutional rights. It sounds like sedition and for all the feds I see rushing in to protect peoples rights, I've got to believe the mayor's brother in D.C. has a lot of clout. Or maybe all our U.S. Marshall's are too busy destroying contaminated petfood to be bothered with some silly old laws.
In order for evil to triumph, good men need do nothing... |

Yet every four years, the good people of Chicago vote this clown back into office.
He led this city from the brink of the abyss, cleaning up messes left by those who proceeded him (including his father), but he now thinks that his beliefs are above the law. Kind of sad when you think about it... |

Also, If a public official commits a criminal act, why does the city have to pay for his defense?

Is he for real do he really think this so called hand gun is working. Hey Mr Daley how about using our tax dollar for something obtainable. Oh yeah the old man is no longer turning in his grave he is doing flip. You can think of nothing the city needs other than you non existant handgun ban. Peace to all and please stay safe.

sorry should say handgun ban

I have to say that I'm surprised at how open Daley is when discussing the low regard he has for the people of Chicago. He thinks the people who vote for him are such scum that he needs to protect emergency workers from them.
What amazes me is the fact that people in the city are dumb enough to allow him to keep stealing elections every few years. He could save the city a lot of money if he could get them to just stop wasting time and effort on any more elections until he is ready to retire. |

One quick question to the legal experts out there. Doesn't the supreme court ruling make the city's buyback program a criminal act in respect to "no questions asked"

This is an example of Richie's neurosis trumping reality.
It's as if he is still trying to convince the ghost of his old man (who is lurking over his shoulder) that he is worth something. |

Contrary to what the Mayor tries to tell the public, guns are seldom used against emergency workers. When they are, the situation has already occurred in most cases. People that would use a gun against the police or any other emergency worker have no regard for the law to begin with. Daley is ranting like a moron.
He should work harder to ensure that people who commit crimes with a firearm receive mandatory minimum sentences, and by helping pass legislation that will speed up background checks for potential firearm purchasers. THE BAD GUYS DON'T CARE ABOUT THE LAW!!! I am also tired of Daley, Pfleger and the rest of the kooks calling for "common sense gun laws". If they had common sense, they would realize that the current laws don't work and only put the innocent law abiding citizens in the position as prey for the criminals. The guy that shoots on the street with a broken down MAC 10 didn't buy the gun in a gun shop or steal it from a house. It was purchased on the black market! He doesn't care about the law. WAKE UP! |
|

Come on now all you great investigative reporters, let's monitor where all these turned in guns go.
I remember when Richies father was Mayor and they had the scandal where the old "patch eyed colonel" a friend of Da Mayor, wound up with about 700 guns given to him, I am sure at the behest of the Mayor. Now come on boys , do your homework and jump on that story. I believe it happened somewhere between 1968 and 1973.......... |

"I don't look at this lightly—that,'Oh, because the Supreme Court's done it we're just gonna dismiss it and all of a sudden people can arm themselves,' " Daley said.
So much the better. Let the taxpayers of Chicago pick up the tab for the "Daley connected law firm" that will defend the city. The case will grind on for years, and for millions of taxpayer dollars, enriching said law firm immensely. What's not to like? Surely we don't want citizens to just be able to arm themselves. Far better the Wild West Chicago has become under Daley, and the increased murder under his puppet policeman, Weis. But don't worry, your mayor will be fine, he as armed goons 24 hours a day protecting him. Free Tip: If you are shot, and bleeding out in the gutter, simply pick up your cellular phone, dial 911, then die. Streets and San will be along to scrape your carcass off the asphalt for appropriate disposal. Happy Gun Buy-Back Day! |

With one of the highest crime rates in the country, Kind Richard still wants to play by his rules. He knows more than the Supreme Court and the Constitution. Let all of his
citizens become victims, and sheep. The gang-bangers rule. ITS BETTER TO HAVE IT AND NOT NEED IT, THAN NEED IT AND NOT HAVE IT. |

Seems like the walls of Dickiedoless Daley are starting to crumble.

Hey King Daley... Just because the Supreme Court rules on the meaning of The United States Constitution, that doesn't mean that the city should obey, does it? Chicago is in another country... isn't it?
You should unarm your bodyguards in case emergency workers have to come to your house... you hypocrite. |
|

"You have to look at a new ordinance in order to protect firemen and policemen going to the scenes of people that arm themselves in their home."
Because their guns are going to grow feet, leap out of drawers and start mowing down emergency responders. The only people he is restricting are those that follow the law anyway. The bad guys certainly don't and either are already armed or will arm themselves regardless of what statutes are in places. The registration system (such as it is) already exists. The bad guys still won't register. Simply reopen it for handguns and let the regular residents enjoy a little more freedom. Instant SCOTUS compliance without any statistically significant risk to anyone. Nevermind saving the city millions in legal fees for fighting the filed lawsuits. |

Apparently Dick Daley wants the people of Chicago to be sitting ducks and not protect themselves. Has this stupid handgun ordinance reduced the number of homicides? NO! The reason there are still homicides in the city is the black market. Try going after eradicating the black market instead of penalizing innocent citizens like myself who want to protect themselves, their families, and their property.

The audacity of hopelessness! I like Daley becuz he Irish. Now I think he does not know what he is doing? How can ANYONE in the great United States of Amerka even think about disregarding the supreme rule of the land. It is the Constitution for Chris's sakes. Maybe he thinks there is a Supremo Supreme Court. Thats it Dickey, its over, get used to it.
Does he know what country he's in? Lets see: the criminals are armed and shoot anyone anytime. The law abiding citizens must defend themselves from death by dodging bullets or fighting with their fists against bullets. Haw insane is that? |
|
|
Daley said "that if the gun ban was overturned the city would need to consider other ways to protect emergency workers".
Why not do what other cities and towns do? Nothing. It seems to work just fine everywhere else, or, is Chitcago that far gone? |
