Karamanlis has most probably resigned (indifferent as he claims to have become over politics), so that to create a shock wave in his ranks and for his mates to ask him to stay; anyhow, the shock he created in his party helps him, whether he'll stay or go, not to have his image tarnished so much!
Of course we must wait and see the extend of the cost to the greek economy the Karamanlis's reign has been and the real cost of the scandals in MILLIONS OF EUROS !

Karamanlis is finished as the leader of ND. To bring him back as the leader is to admit that the party has nothing new to offer to the country's electorate. The new government won on a platform of change... To go back to Karamanlis would show the electorate that ND can not change, or be creative. His future (at least for now) is to be a face of ND for those that support his family.
