An unfair benchmark for youth
“Tiger has skewed the bar to an extent where a lot of times, the young players are judged on a little different scale, as opposed to being patient, knowing that in the peak of many careers, guys are in their mid to late 30s”
With two years left in his 20s, Sergio Garcia already has won 16 times around the world and seriously contended in the majors, including runner-up finishes to Tiger Woods and Padraig Harrington.

This article would be hilarious if it weren't so sad. Professional golfers are perhaps the biggest cry-babbies of any professional sport today. Learn to live with the fact that Tiger is just more talented than you, works harder, and is more committed.
By the way, I happen honor and respect Sergio Garcia and he is far from being a failure. Quit listening to sportswriters and others who can't play the game.

It is more than a little bit curious that we have people who consistently question, dig and otherwise beffudle fans about any and everything. This game of golf is not different.
Golfers compete on the course, and on any given day they best one another. That is as it should be. Tiger plays one hell of a game of golf. He is deserving of the accolades, the money and the public adulation. He is one gifted entertainer. Even on his worst day, we watch knowing at some point he may pull off one of those memorable shots. The PGA is a tour of professionals. They play the game for love and for money. I for one enjoy watching .... and playing. For those who have yet to grasp the game and its special place, to paraphrase that great American philosopher Jack Nicholson, pick up a club and stand a tee Box.

The problem is, Goodkarma, that a lot of people of today don't know, or don't care, that anyone can beat anyone on any given day.
They believe Tiger is the only person who deserves to be on the tour and everyonr else, including Jack, Arnie, Byron, Ben were all overweight bums who could not even carry Tiger's bag.

Russ, I would disagree on the History and the cat of today. As history goes, in anything, we know that improvement/advances are always around the corner. Someone once said, "Everything that will be invented has been invented" (or something close there to). We all know that the statement is ludicrous, just as the statement regarding this noble game. Each of the people named have a place and a lofty one at that. Tiger will have his place, when some young phenom comes out of the hills and whacks it 390, and has a wedge into the par 5s. I am an unabashedly Tiger fan, but I also love this game (actually it is my drug of choice). I have great admiration for anybody who can play it at a level where they can make a living at it.
One thing I have learned about humankind; It is difficult to get people to cut through emotion and personal conviction to simply look at facts. I don't ever want to be in a Court and have my (maybe) peers, determine whether I should still be allowed on the streets. Regardless of facts, or fact pattern, emotions weigh too heavily in view points these days. That makes opinions and jury decisions scary things. Long way around saying, people will rationalize based on their desire to be right, obstinate or some of both. All that said believe me nobody in their right mind believes anybody who played on the PGA Tour is a hack, especially the list you placed in your piece. I can tell you that if you posed such a premise(regarding Jack, Arnie and the like) to Mr. Woods, he probably would glare and not answer, because he knows. Neither would he dishonor the game. So goes the fallicy of such thought, but people do such things, don't they?
