this is just another example of some of the stupid rules of golf

Is there any warning mechanism like what soccer or basketball games have ? How about ranking the violations similar to "yellow card" system ? Rules are rules, but it has to be fair !

Rules are FAR more important than people. Any golfer knows that. Any human being knows that. That it is completely insane and evidence of just how stupid humans can be is completely clear as well. I often wonder how we morons became the dominant species on this planet. This behavior certainly didn't help - oops you didn't sign your scorecard, no wooly mammoth for you, just go over there in the corner and starve until you learn to play by the rules.

I agree, rules are rules! She forgot to sign her card. My gosh, everybody who has ever played in any type of tournament knows they have to sign their card. Now, I think the rules can be/should be tweaked. She did come back and sign her card. Maybe the rule should state that if you leave the property, rather than the tent or sign-in area, before signing then you are DQ. If you come back and sign before leaving then find, maybe a warning issued and if it happens again then D Q. But, the rules are as they are and she knows that the card has to be signed before leaving the 'sign-in area'. Her fault.

1 At the '05 Samsung, she made the drop and had a rules official point out where the drop landed and then deemed it back in play, why wasn't he held as the party responsible? And if a reporter can point out an infraction after the fact via a videotape, why can't things be corrected in reverse as signning once notified a minute and 20 yards from the area?! Rules are rules? Are we so gullible and mindnumb that we will follow even the asinine of rules? |

You forget one small thing. She was reminded that she did not sign her card by a volunteer who chased her down. If the volunteer did not do that, and they are not required to so, then she would have never signed her card. I think the rules should be changed, as I said, but at this tournament they were not and they should stand. Sorry

1 They did stand and Michelle accepted it, regardless whether the volunteer got her to come back 20 yards to sign, that had no bearing whatsoever. But if someone can view a video tape and determine a day later that the drop at the Samsung, which was OKed by a rules official, was invalid thus reversing what the score should've been, then I ask why can't a minute and 20 yard thing be reversed since it was found and corrected immediately? |

I have still not been able to find the exact rule the Michelle violated. It is not in the USGA Rule 6-6-b. If it is a LPGA Rule; which one?

It is a valid rule, even if it is a little outdated, it is a rule that leads to DQ. http://www.usga.org/playing/rules/books/rules... |
